Abstract

Abstracts. The results of Widarto's research, Putut H., Prihatno K., (2018) show that the score of work discipline culture and innovative culture in the implementation of learning of industrial work culture in Diploma – III Mechanical Engineering students is still low. Each scored 2.78 and 2.67 on a scale of 4. The current study aims to: (1) Build a culture of work discipline and innovative culture in Diploma – III students of Mechanical Engineering through the implementation of the Explicite Instruction learning model; (2) Measuring the effectiveness of the Explicite Instruction learning model in enhancing the work culture of innovative aspects and the culture of work discipline in Diploma – III students of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Yogyakarta State University. The method used is classroom action research (CAR). The subject of the study was 15 Diploma – III students of Mechanical Engineering. This class action research design consists of four stages of each cycle, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results showed that: (1) Implementation of Explicite Instruction went well as expected and can be said to be successful because it reached the targets set as success criteria. The optimal implementation of Instruction requires 3 to 4 cycles; (2) Explicite Instruction is effective in enhancing student culture and innovative culture. This can be seen from the increase in the average score of discipline culture in each cycle in a row: 2.85; 2.98; 3.53; 3.67 and an increase in the average score of innovative culture each cycle in a row: 2.71; 2.84; 3.29; 3.42.

Abstract

Abstracts. The ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) encourages competition in the fields of human, economic, technological and industrial resources. MEA has the potential to open up opportunities and more challenging expectations and force to work hard to be able to take roles and opportunities in the competition. The purpose of this study are 1) developing a vocational school-based economic collaboration model, 2) knowing the feasibility of a vocational school-based economic collaboration model. This research is a research and development study using the 4D model, namely define, design, develop, and disseminate. Data comes from literature and questionnaire studies. Research data analysis techniques using descriptive statistical analysis. The results of the study show that the model of economic collaboration based on vocational schools requires collaboration and collaboration between institutions and the community to create sustainable and mutually beneficial synergy. Vocational school-based economic collaboration models produce collaborative models that involve industry, retail, MSMEs, farmer groups, and start-ups. Expert assessment of the collaboration model falls into the "very appropriate" category. The implementation of collaboration needs to consider several aspects, namely regional characteristics, local government regulations, school readiness, community readiness, and local industry characteristics.

Abstract

Abstracts. Organizations teaching softskills and hardskills are useful for social life, but organizations are not being priority for students. Therefore, this study aims to find out whether the organization can influence the readiness to become teachers and softskills from the students of FT UNY. In addition, this study looks for whether the GPA that is used as an orientation by students also influences the readiness to become a teacher and student softskill. In this study, data was collected using a questionnaire with a sample of 116 students. This study has six hypotheses that have been tested using simple regression and multiple regression, all of which show ha is accepted and h0 is rejected, namely that there is a positive influence between activeness in the organization and readiness to become a teacher. There is a positive influence between activeness in the organization of softskills. There is a positive influence between GPA and readiness to become a teacher. There is a positive influence between GPA and softskills. There is a positive influence between activeness in the organization and the GPA jointly towards readiness to be a teacher, and there is a positive influence between activeness in the organization and GPA together on softskills.

Abstract

Revitalizing OSH (Occupational Safety and Health) teaching materials is needed in line with the essence of OSH in the scope of education, work environment, and social life. OSH teaching materials used are still learning-oriented content, while the demands of the learning paradigm have shifted to Life Based Learning (LBL). OSH teaching materials in PTM (Mechanical Engineering Education) Study Programs need to be revitalized. The purpose of this study is : (1) producing OSH teaching materials; and (2) evaluating the results of the implementation of revitalized OSH teaching materials. The method used to achieve the research objectives is the Research and Development (R&D), which adopts the ADDIE (Analysis-Design-Development-Implementation-Evaluation) model. The instrument used was a questionnaire based on the feasibility of teaching materials based on students' apperception. Topics covered in this OSH textbook include the fire chapter, First Aid for Accidents (P3K), Occupational safety and health Management System (SMK3), occupational nutrition, radioactive and noise hazards, personal protective equipment (PPE), and ergonomics. The results of expert assessments (industry OSH experts and university lecturers) obtained an average rating of 85.6% as follows. The test results on 54 students showed an average total response of 83% showed that OSH teaching materials based on the LBL paradigm were very suitable for use in tertiary institutions.

Abstract

Abstracts. This study aims to determine the readiness of 2017 Electrical Engineering Education (PTE) students in facing Industrial Practices (PI). The existence of Higher Education (PT) especially vocational education plays an important role in the nation's development going forward, because the current condition of globalization requires professional and skilled workers who must be able to work in accordance with their competencies. The development of increasingly sophisticated technology requires an increase in the quality of Human Resources (HR) who inevitably adapt to these changes. This research is a qualitative research using a descriptive approach. The population of this research is eight lecturers of PI supervisors and 32 PTE fifth semester students. The evaluation results show that PTE students are ready to do PIs, this is supported by the level of student knowledge, socialization carried out by PTE study programs as well as adequate basic skills of students. In the PTE student activities implementing PI has been going well which is supported by the ability of students to adapt in the industrial environment. PI assessment is done by paying attention to attendance, discipline, motivation, work quality, initiative, creativity, behavior and work skills.

Abstract

Abstracts. The supply of wood that is quite durable and of high quality has not been able to meet the needs of building construction at the present time, especially in the future. Sengon wood (Paraserianthes falcataria) is a fast-growing type of plant that has a large increase (volume of wood per hectare per year) which is around 28 - 48 m3 / ha / year. To fulfill various human objectives, the majority of Sengon wood can be collected from the age of 6 years. With the use of lamination technology, wood remnants can be utilized to be made into wooden blocks of various sizes and various shapes. Lamination can make the strength of Sengon wood higher than solid wood beams. The test is carried out by physical and mechanical tests as well as the Sengon wood laminated sliding block test. In testing physical and mechanical properties based on ISO 1975 regulations. Testing of physical properties of Sengon wood includes wood density test and moisture content test. Testing the mechanical properties of Sengon wood includes fiber parallel compressive strength test, fiber perpendicular compressive strength test, tensile strength test, shear strength test and flexural strength test. Testing of Sengon wood laminated sliding blocks to determine the strength of lamination has a variation of 30 MDGL, 40 MDGL and 50 MDGL slurry adhesives with 3 replications of each shear test. The average density of Sengon wood is 0.315 t / m3 and the average moisture content of Sengon wood is 13.539%. The average compressive strength of fibers is 26.85 MPa and the compressive strength of fibers is 9.62 MPa. The average tensile strength of Sengon wood is 61.48 MPa and the average shear strength of Sengon wood is 5.31 MPa. In testing the flexural strength of Sengon wood an average of 43.18 MPa. Testing of Sengon wood laminate sliding block for 30 / MDGL obtained an average of 0.05 kg / mm2. In the shear block 40 / MDGL obtained an average shear strength of 0.02 kg / mm2. For the 50 / MDGL laminate shear block an average shear strength of 0.08 kg / mm2 was obtained.
