Abstract

All nations may have similarities and differences in value systems. The values, which are considered noble by each nation's culture, are generally similar, but the hierarchy of believed values is different. The hierarchy of values is a specific historical product of each nation. Hatta explained that main ideas of Pancasila as the state ideology is formulated in the Preamble of the Constitution (Undang-Undang Dasar 1945). An issue that should be considered is to formulate Pancasila as an ethical norm of Indonesian life. The ethical norm is formed as the basic for building Indonesians dignity in the future. The ethics of Pancasila is an ethical norm as a guidance for the State and people of Indonesia in implementing Pancasila. In implementing Pancasila, the State must provide a guarantee for people of Indonesia in practicing their religious beliefs, obtaining a decent livelihood and their human rights, promoting the establishment of unity in diversity, majoring consultative dialogue and rejecting authoritarianism, and also actualizing the social justice through political and economical justice.

Abstract

This research studies one of the local wisdoms in Toraja society which is longko' or culture of shame. This culture contains values of religious ethics and communal spirit to maintain self-esteem and vigilance in order to be not humiliated/ shamed (kalongkoran). The longko' of Toraja is observed from the ethics perspective of Lawrence Kohlberg to analyze ethical values of the culture. The result of this research indicates that, according to the Kohlberg's theory of moral development stages, Toraja society tends to be at the conventional level and the third stages which is characterized by a social morality where the union with familiar groups becomes the highest value. It is in accordance with communal ties which are very strong in the Toraja society and known as tongkonan. The longko', as an internalization result of understanding varieties which is held steadfastly by the Toraja society, contains not only values of honor, self esteem and shame, but also other positive values such as work ethos and spirit. Kamalamburan (honesty) and karapasan (harmony and peace) are the main values of Toraja society. The Longko' is quite relevant, especially in relation to the national efforts to solve the problem of corruption through the cultural approach.

Abstract

Traditional batik, which was raised from local cultural roots, is rich of local wisdom that is described in "batik language". Reviewing the traditional batik is similar to reviewing values . The values of traditional batik are results of acculturation process among Javanese, Hindu, and Islamic culture added to cultural influences of immigrants. One of the traditional batik motifs/patterns is Kawung. This research shows that the traditional batik of Kawung contains values of local wisdom which are described in its patterns, colors, names, and functions. The Kawung symbolizes an ideal order of society. The Kawung gives a message that someone should be an excellent, kind, and useful person.

Abstract

This study aims to explain legitimacy of power which is the basic of Taqiyuddin An-Nabhani conception of power from the perspective of political ethics theory, and to understand its relevance to the political movement of Hizbut-Tahrir in Indonesia. The results of this study are: first, the power in the basic concept of political ethics orients to benevolence and social welfare; second, the An-Nabhani concept of power is closely related to dakwah (propagation) of Islam; third, the ethical dimension of his concept of power has an objective to continue Islamic life and spread Islam throughout the world by dakwah; fourth, Hizbut-Tahrir, as a manifestation of Islamic political movement which proclaim re-establishment of Daulah Khilafah Islamiyah and implementation of syariah, in practice, will face the diversity and plurality of Indonesia.

Abstract

This research starts from the problems of education in Indonesia in which Heru Nugroho call them “intellectual banality”. The intellectual banality is a situation which is characterized by unconscious superficiality of thought, and degradation of intellectual and academic quality. Basic idea of this research is to look for roots of the intellectual banality at the level of philosophy of science because educational practices presuppose a perspective to science. Roots of the intellectual banality in this research are: first, there is a priority of quantitative perspective to measure intellectual quality. Prioritization of the quantitative perspective can be viewed as a romanticism of induction method triumph;.second, ignorance the aim of science which is create the humanitarian welfare in general, not only one or a small group of person.
