Abstract

This research is conducted based on the observation in SMP Negeri  3 Jatinangor that many students do not join  in any extracurricular activity and have the low social intelligence. This research aims to know the influence of the activeness in joining extracurricular activity on students’ social intelligence. The method of the research is correlational method with analyzing technique using Rank Spearman correlation. The subjects of the research were 137 students at Class IX SMP Negeri 3 Jatinangor. The instrument used in this research was questionnaire to measure the activeness in joining extracurricular and students’ social intelligence. The data were analyzed by using t-test assisted by SPSS 22.00 for windows. The result of the research shows that there is positive and significant influence when the students are involving actively in extracurricular activity at class IX SMP Negeri 3 Jatinangor with the high correlation level. This means that being active in joining extracurricular activity can be one of the significant factors to influence the students’ social intelligence.Key words : Extracurricular, The activeness, Social Intelligence, Correlational meth

Abstract

AbstractThe use of learning models in classroom civic education becomes substantive. Improving student learning outcomes and motivation in the classroom is the main goal of the project citizen model. The learning steps in this model invite students to be active, think critically, be able to work together, be creative, and get an effective learning experience. The control class and the experimental class are subject to quasi experiment. The results show that there is a significant increase in students' intellectual and participatory skills in students who use project citizen models. The creativity and ability of the teacher to use the learning model project citizen has implications for student motivation and open classroom climate. The implication of this research is that building a democratic society requires education so that its citizens can criticize and understand existing problems. Thus the civic education will produce a democratic education by giving birth to a smart, open, independent and democratic future generation.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research is motivated by concerns of authors to the implementation of the order in the SMP 12 Bandung. Of all the rules of conduct, the author wants to memfoskuskan on three chapters contained in the rules of conduct on the implementation of presence and neatness it is intended to look at the implementation of the rules on the implementation of the role and the presence of tidiness effect on increasing the students of SMPN 12 Bandung character class VIII- D. This study used descriptive qualitative approach. Data collected by interview and observation. The results of this study show that: First, an increase of 5 main characters of this value through the implementation of the rules at school by choosing the dimensions of presence and neatness, on the implementation of the order shows that school teaching and learning activities is not maximized. This happens due to lack of optimization of teachers in supporting the establishment of rules consistently; Second; Implementation presence in SMPN 12 Bandung views of punctuality when attending school, students attend school information, student activities conducted at the time of school hours attendance order dimension into forming values that must be owned by the students; Third, the neatness of this D class VIII in terms of appearance is shown in the environment of the school, from clothes, hair, accessories and footwear worn / shoes; Fourth.

Abstract

The main objectives of the research were to understand and to analyze 1) the sustainability of sport-specific class in the 4th Public Senior High School (SMA N 4) of Tegal City. This study was a qualitative research with descriptive approach. Data were collected through observation, document analysis, and interview. The results of the research were as follows. 1) The sport-specific class was active during 2013-2016 and closed in the fourth year in 2016/2017. Considering the result of research, it could be concluded that sport-specific class has run poorly with some achievements running fairly well for 3 years with after-school achievement building conducted, but it was closed in the 4th year due to limited fund and policy changed by the government.Keywords: Class, sport, achievement

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe background of this research is by the problems found during observation, among them the lack of respect for differences of opinion among students, lack of ability to build closeness with friends other than close friends and lack of empathy that students have. The purpose of this study was to determine the role of peers for improving social intelligence of students. The approach in this study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The research subjects used were class VIII D students who were determined by purposive sampling. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, observation and documentation studies. From the results of the study, it is known that: First, peers provide assistance in improving communication skills so that students are able to build social relations, second, an increase in problem-solving skills, reflected in how students help each other complete tasks, third empathy attitude the participants have increased because students have a sensitivity to the feelings of others, fourth, the attitude of respecting differences of opinion held by students is still lacking, this can be seen from the attitude of students who still insist in maintaining their opinions, fifth, the role peers play a role in increasing the ability to understand and control emotions possessed by students so that they can have a positive impact in dealing with others. Keywords: social intelligence, peers, communication skills, empathy, respect for differences

Abstract

This research was motivated by the results of preliminary research on social studies learning activities conducted by one of teachers in Al Musyawarah Lembang MTs which indicated that the implementation of project based learning (PBL) model could increase the responsibility of students in social studies learning. The PBL model needed to be developed by teachers during the process of learning activities so that students have a sense of responsibility towards themselves, society, environment, and nation that students are able to bear the risk of decisions and have the provision to face challenges in future. The method used in this study was a descriptive method and the participants was social studies teachers and students of class VIII-AB MTs Al Musyawarah Lembang, consisted of 42 students divided into 21 female students and 21 male students. Data collection techniques used were observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the study showed that the implementation of  PBL model could enhance students' sense of responsibility. This could be supported by observational data on students' sense of responsibility in participating learning activities in class and completing project assignments that could be developed through PBL learning models that showed the increase of responsibility such as diligent, active and enthusiastic in participating learning process.Keywords: Project Based Learning Model (PBL), Responsibility.

Abstract

The low level of teachers’ competencies in carrying out learning activity will affect the low students’ learning outcomes in social science subject (IPS). This research was conducted to investigate whether there was a correlation between the competencies that the teacher possessed and the students’ learning achievements in the social science subject. The method used in this research was a correlation study by using quantitative methods. The population of this research was the 303 eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Bandung. The research was employed by using a simple random sampling technique which gained 76 students as the sample. The data collection techniques in this research were questionnaire and documentation. The instrument of this research was a questionnaire with close-ended questions using Likert’s Scale. The data analysis technique in this research used a Pearson Product-Moment Correlation technique. The result of the data analysis showed that the z-test score was 0.382 which meant that Null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected and Alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted. Meanwhile, the significance level was 3.555, thus, Ho was rejected. It meant that the correlation between the teachers’ competencies and the students’ learning outcomes in social science subject was significant. The findings of the research showed that there was a positive correlation between the teachers’ competencies and the students’ learning outcomes in the social science subject. The correlation was categorized as low level of correlation. Therefore, the low-level of the students’ learning achievements were not only determined by the teachers’ competencies, but also determined by the other factors.

Abstract

This research is motivated by researchers' interest in the cultural program of the 19th Bandung Middle School, namely GDS (Student Discipline Movement). The factor that caused the birth of the GDS was due to the school's concern for the lack of attention of students in the prevailing discipline in the school. So that the school creates a school culture in the form of activities that empower students with the hope that students can train character education especially in discipline in carrying out school rules. Therefore, this research was conducted with the aim to find out several things including the first driving factors for the birth of GDS, secondly the description of GDS activities, the three efforts of the school in facing the discipline characteristics of students, the four impacts of GDS on the discipline character of students in carrying out the order. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods of data collection carried out through study documentation, observation and interviews. Based on the results of the study, it was found that the driving factor for the birth of GDS activities in 19th Public High School in Bandung was due to the restlessness of the surrounding community towards the behavior of students. Meanwhile, GDS has become an institutionalized activity in upholding school discipline in SMP Negeri 19 Bandung. The efforts of the school in dealing with the disciplinary characteristics of students at 19 Bandung Junior High School by involving students through GDS activities to discipline students so that they can adhere to school discipline. The impact of the GDS can reduce student violations even though they have not been effective due to the lack of support from the school.

Abstract

Abstracts. This study examines how rubrics and peer assessment can be successfully applied in a classroom to maximize learning outcome. Students find obstacles in assessing the quality of their works.  Furthermore, the lecturer is not able to facilitate all students’ working process. Online platform is also used to cut the complex procedure which affects teaching and learning effectiveness. Data were collected through the result score of students’ works and questionnaires which were analyzed using T-Test SPSS software. The students submitted the work twice on the first work submission and the revision. After getting peer assessment, students revised the work and submitted the work. The finding revealed that rubrics and peer assessment help students to maximize their work. There are some significant progress from the two version of works. However, it needs preliminaries process and learning environmental readiness which limit them to be used in wider context.Keywords : Rubrics, Peer Assessment, Students’ work.
