Abstract

This study aims to determine the distribution and trends of student thesis research on science education master study program University of Mataram, in terms of the type of research, the focus of study and research subjects. Data obtained through documentation techniques. Data were analyzed by descriptive qualitative tehniques and continued with FGD. The results showed that 73% of the student's thesis research themes included in the education and 27% belong to the natural science (Biology, Physics, and Chemistry). Education research was dominated by learning methods (50%), media applications and media development (17%), respectively, followed by the development of learning tools (13%) and the competence of teachers (3%). Thesis research subjects was dominated at the level of high school (70%), followed by junior high (25%), S1 (2.5%), and teachers (2.5%). Analysis based on the year thesis from 2009 to 2014 provided information that there were increasing trends on topics related to the development of media and the development of learning tools. Focus Group Discussion recommended that the topics for thesis research in the future which need to be improved are the topic of media development, development of learning tools and topics related aspects of critical thinking. Keywords: thesis research, trends, subjects, education

Abstract

The aims of this study were to: 1) generate interactive multimedia of colloidal system which is suitable to be implemented in schools, and to test the effectiveness of the interactive multimedia by: 2) knowing whether critical thinking skill of students who use context-based interactive multimedia is better than critical thinking skill of students who do not use context-based interactive multimedia on subject matter of the colloidal system. The method used in this study was research and development (R&D) according to the model of Borg & Gall’s development. The results of the expert validation by 4 validators and limited testing by 10 students showed that the interactive multimedia was very suitable to be used, with scores of 4.21 and 4.36 for expert validation and limited testing, respectively. Field trial  using a non-equivalent control group design with 2 class samples, resulted in the critical thinking skill of probability value of 0.00 (p < 0.05). From this research we can conclude that: 1) context-based interactive multimedia can be developed by means of analyzing the materials in each sub materials as the basis for developing primary form of product, then tested for it’s feasibility, effectiveness, and revised through an expert validation, limited field testing, and main field testing, consecutively, so that the resulting product is considered to be suitable for learning process, and 3) critical thinking skill of students who use context-based interactive multimedia is better than critical thinking skill of students who do not use context-based interactive multimedia on the subject matter of the colloidal system. Keywords: interactive multimedia, context learning, concept mastery, critical thinking skill

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate difference of influence between inquiry integrated by science generic (IIBSG) student’s work sheet and experiment verification (EV) student’s work sheet learning on students’s phisycs learning outcomes, difference of influence between high and low achievement motivation level on students’s phisycs learning outcomes, and interaction between student’s work sheet and achievement motivation on students’s phisycs learning outcomes. Method of this research was experimental method with a 2x2 faktorial design. Data analyzed with two-way ANOVA. The conclution of this study include there was difference of influence between IIBSG student’s work sheet and EV student’s work sheet  learning on students’s phisycs learning outcomes, there was difference influence between high and low achievement motivation level on students’s phisycs learning outcomes, and there was no interaction between student’s work sheet learning and achievement motivation on students’s phisycs learning outcomes. Keywords: IIBSG student’s work sheet, achievement motivation, and student’s phisycs learning outcomes
