Abstract

This research was aimed at finding out the comparisons of students study output of Class VIII of SMP Negeri 19 Palu, done by the implementing connected model of integrated learning - based cooperative learning and conventional model. This research was quasi experiment with pre test-post test control group design. The research sample was chosen through purposive sampling technique with two classes involving experimental and control classes. Those were Class VIIIA as the experimental class while Class VIIIB as the control one, who have the same class average value. The technique of collecting data was essay test consisting of five test items. The data analysis result showed that the average of post test and pre test score difference of the control class was 4.84 while the experimental one was 10.92. The result of statistical calculation of these two classes which tested through U-Mann Whitney Test with and 95%, degree of freedom was Zcounted < Ztable (-4.594 < -1.96). It means that there were significant differences of students study output between experimental class and control one. Therefore, the integrated learning can be applied at school in order to increase the students study output and the meaningful learning of students.

Abstract

Clay is very important mineral in human life, especially as raw material for the fabrication of ceramics. Clay forms a mixture of minerals, which has a variety structure. The purity and type of mineral of clay as raw material determines the product quality of the resulting caramics. In this research, the type and structure of mineral has been characterized by XRD, XRF and SEM techniques and olso physical properties of the formation of clay ceramics have been axamined. The results of XRD characterization revealed that clay from Desa Lembah Bomban, Labuno, Parigi Motong regency contains kaolin, quartz, anorthit, cristobalite. Based on the results of XRF analysis, the clay contains SiO2 56.26%, Al2O3 23.18%, Fe2O3 4.99%, K2O 1.99%, MgO 1.73%, TiO2 0.980%, 0.841% Na2O ; CaO 0.840%. Physical characterization showed that from Desa Lembah Bomban clay was a less plastical type with linear drying shringkage of about 8.08%, linear firing shringkage 0.66% with total porisity of about 48.02%, and the compressive strength at 9000C about 8.135 x 106 (N/m2). SEM analysis results showed that the clay that has burned more dense than unfired.

Abstract

The research regarding the extraction of copper ions with liquid emulsion membrane has been done. It used a laboratory experiment method by using dithizone as a carrier compound, paraffin liquid as the membrane, a solution of HCl as an internal phase, Span-60 as surfactant, and a solution of copper(II) as the sample solution. This study was conducted to examine the ability of dithizone as a cation carrier and to determine the optimum conditions for the extraction of copper(II) ions in a solution that includes dithizone concentration and copper(II) ion extraction capacity with liquid membrane emulsion technique. The dithizone concentrations used were 0.005 M, 0.010 M, 0.015 M, 0.020 M, and 0.025 M. On the other hands the copper(II) solution concentrations used were 348 ppm, 512 ppm, 689 ppm, 857 ppm, and 1029 ppm. Concentration of copper(II) ion in external-phase was determined by using SpectroDirect Spectrophotometer. The result showed that the use of 0.020 M dithizone, 50 mL of liquid emulsion membrane could extract 857 ppm copper(II) ions with the extract percentage was 84.13%.

Abstract

The aims of this research is to increase result of learning student at items of thermochemistry of class XI SMA Negeri 7 Palu. One of effort used to increase result of learning the by applying model the study of co-operative of type STAD (Student Teams Achievement Devision). As for which this research background because items termokimia represent the items assumed difficult by this items and student also of vital importance comprehended by student of class XI. So that is not assumed difficult, draging on and is easy to comprehended by student hence teacher have to give a pleasant study model with the model of study of co-operative of type STAD (Student Teams Achievement Devision). this Research Population is all student of class of XI IPA SMA Negeri 7 Palu of school year 2012/2013 consisted of by 3 class and sampel used consisted of by two class that is XI IPA1 as much 37 people as class of experiment and class of XI IPA2 as much 37 people as control class determined by purposive sampling. Data collecting done to use the instrument tes in the form of tes result of learning is tested by the student chemistry of validity, reliabilitas, mount the difficulty and energy of the difference. Data examination result of research use the statistical analysis test the t one party (right) with the prerequisite test, test the normalitas, and homogeneity. At this research obtained by a mean score result of learning student by using model of study of co-operative of type STAD is 13.20 while mean score result of learning student following conventiona l study 8.93. Pursuant to hypothesis examination statistically test the t one party (right) obtained by value t calc > t table that is 6.88 > 1.67 with the belief level = 0.05 and dk = 72. The result refer that result learn the student chemistry use the model of study of compared to by better type STAD co-operative result learn the student by using conventional study model.

Abstract

The analyses of Copper (Cu) has been performed in the sample of drum waste (tailings) gold mining in Poboya by using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS) method.The alkaline destruction by the addition of HNO3 and HClO4 has been done by heating then distilled. The absorbance was measured at a wavelength (λ) = 324.7 nm on copper metal analysis. From the analysis,it was obtained copper metal in each drum consist of as follows drum A. 204.92 mg/kg, drum B 151.85 mg/kg, drum C 79.51 mg/kg, drum D 167.78 mg/kg, drum E 190.68 mg/kg, with the overall average value of 158.94 mg/kg. The data shown that the area gold mining at Poboya contain copper metal ion in high quantity.

Abstract

Moringa is a plant use as a traditional medicine. The leaves of moringa (moringa oleivera) is part of the plant that could reduce the blood sugar levels. This research aims to determine the extract (infusion) of moringa leaves (moringa oleivera), to reduce the blood sugar level in mice and to determine the most effective concentrations of moringa leaves extract (infusion) to reduce the blood sugar levels in diabetic mice. Bioactifive compounds of moringa leaves was identified by using reagent dragendorff to test alkaloids while reagent chloroform, acetic anhydride and sulfuric acid to test steroids/terpenoids. The study was a clinical trial by using animal testing, 15 mice which was divided to 5 group of treatments: P1 (food + EDTA + glucose, 10% of moringa leaves infusion, Na-CMS), P2 (food + EDTA + glucose, 20% of moringa leaves infusion, Na-CMS), P3 (food + EDTA + glucose, 40% of moringa leaves infusion, Na-CMS), P4 (food + EDTA + glucose, glibenklamid, Na-CMS), and P5 (food + EDTA + glucose, Na-CMS). Blood glucose levels measured with GlukoDr instrument. The measurement data was analyzed by ANOVA test with the 95% confidence level followed by Duncan test to determine the significant different of each treatment to obtained the significant data. The result showed that moringa leaves extract consist of alkaloid and steroid which plays an important role to reduce blood sugar level and the concentration of the moringa leaves extract 20% was effective to the reduce the blood sugar level of diabetic mice.

Abstract

The type of in this research is the experimental of research with using of model POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) held in to SMAN 4 Pasangkayu XI science of class. The experiment class (XI IPA 2) using POE learning the model cinsists of 21 student and the class of control (XI IPA 1) using of research conventional learning model to consists of 17 students. This research aims to determine the effect learning of a POE model on learning outcomes in chemistry class XI science student of SMAN 4 Pasangkayu. The test was gave before and after the learning twice (pretest and posttest). The observation sheet was used to observe student’s learning of activities. T test was performed after normality test and data homogenity. Based on the data analysis the average for experiment class is 11.07 with the mastery percentage of 71.42% while of 28.57% did not completed. For a control class average to valve 9,08 with the percentage completeness to valve learning a student 41.17% while not completed of 58.82%. In this matter to pointed that there are to affect of POE model on learning result in chemistry to XI exact science of class with material on the solubility and product solubility to SMAN 4 of Pasangkayu, cause can to interest layer and result of student learning.

Abstract

VCO lately has been used in medical area especially as a medicine for diabetes mellitus, obesity, cholesterol, heart, osteoporosis and can be used to cure diseases that caused by microbial and fungal. VCO also acts as antibiotic because it contains lauric and oleic acid. The availability of VCO materials in Indonesia is abundant, therefore to be developed as a medicine substance, the process of VCO making should be without any chemical material and high heating. The aim of this research is the utilization of palado leaves in the making process of VCO as well as to determine its quality. The method used in this research is the preparation of palado leaves fiber sample, preparation of cream coconut milk with coconut, the making of VCO fermentative for 20 hours and quality test for the VCO made with extra palado leaves by using parameters of colour, smell, the acid number, peroxide number, water content, refractive index and specific gravity, as a comparison is a commercil VCO (Celebes brand). Data analysis used is descriptive qualitative. The research result shows that VCO made with extra palado leaves has clear colour, normal smell, savory taste, while its acid number is 0.4 mg/g, peroxide number is 1 meq/g, water content is 1%, refractive index is 1.44804 and density is 0.888 g/ml. On the other hand, VCO Celebes has clear colour, normal smell and savory taste, while its acid number is 0 mg/g, peroxide number is 0 meq/g, water content is 0%, refractive index is 1.44803 and density is 0.892 g/ml. The conclusion of this research is that the palado leaves can be used in the making process of VCO and the VCO produced is suitable to APCC standard.
