Abstract

This article focuses on how the local print media view of regional identity artists involved in the video contained sexual scenes. The author raised the case of video sexual scenes involving Ariel, Luna Maya, and Cut Tari. All three are national artist when the video was circulated in the society. The three newspapers under study are the Bali Post, Serambi Indonesia, and Pikiran Rakyat. The results showed that the three newspapers was to discredit the three artists with the construction of such news. The newspaper did not give chance for artists to express their opinions.

Abstract

The growth of internet radio has brought a significant impact on change management and radio audiences. Marriage analog radio with internet technology into a new media (Internet Radio) is seen as an alternative solution to some problems of analog radio. Instrumentalist views on Technology Determinism gives the assumption that the function of technology is very dominant in shaping society. Philosophy of technology against this assumption, because Technology Determinism can not explain the meaning and implications of technology for humans. Internet radio using technology to facilitate community access, however the implications of its use to produce new problems in the realm of economic, cultural, social and political. Understanding awareness of the use of technology is the essence of the basic form of critical consciousness of society.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are (1) to describe the influence of newspaper report on the perceptions of users cylinders gas in RW 003 Margajaya Bekasi; (2) to what extend the influence of newspaper coverage of the perception of users of cylinders gas in the RW 003 Margajaya Bekasi. The study concludes that (1) newspaper report has significant influence in a positive direction toward perception of users of cylinders gas in RW 003 Margajaya South Bekasi; (2) newspaper news has affected perception of users of cylinders gas by 59%. It means whenever there is increase in newspaper coverage, then the perception of the user who use cylinders gas is getting better.

Abstract

There are 3 points to discuss the Indonesian contemporary society who lives in reformation order. First is urban society with liberalism perspectives, open and information technology in their hand. Second is structuralist society, who lives and willingness in patron – client/ leadership traits. Third is marginal society with less access to education, health system and powerless. In the development of reformation order, with new perspectives and interpretation, there are some changing in our society, rapidly moved. What implication, also with communication perspectives? Also what is going to happen next , are parts of the discussion in this article.

Abstract

A brand enables customers to remember the core information about a product, and prevent competitors from making imitations (Aaker, 1991 ). Successful brand building helps profitability by adding value that entices customers to buy (De Chernatorny and McDonald, 1994). It is also becoming clearer that companies creating strong brands can obtain important competitive advantage over those that do not (Kohli and Thakor, 1997). Event more firms and other organizations have come to the realization that one of their most valuable assets is the brand names associated with their products or services. Brands themselves may be linked to other entities that have their own knowledge structures in the minds of consumers. A brand may seem more likable or perhaps event trustworthy or expert by virtue of becoming linked to an event. The result showed that the event “Sour Sally Just Wanna Have Fun” can strongly affect the brand of the members that joined in the Facebook group. Through the stages in brand building blocks namely at the stage of salience 70.69%, performance 74,04%, judgments 73.72%, feelings 69.79%, and resonance 64.44%.

Abstract

The theoritical analysis is inspired by the labor riot occurred in Drydocks World Graha Shipyards Company in Batam April 22, 2010. This case has reminded us to consider the importance of diversity management for business organization. Such organization has a reality of cultural diversity in its employees and usually it is a multinational company. Such company has grown and expanded in accordance with the development of the global economic order. The reality of cultural diversity actually can be positive forces to sustain the dynamics of the organization, but if not properly managed it can make the negative impact of disadvantageous communication climate. It can enrich the communication climate practices of racism and discrimination. The goal of diversity management is to maximize the positive forces of cultural diversity and to minimize its negative impacts. Management of diversity is itself a way of managing an organization that requires the multicultural paradigm. Inter-group conflict management is an integral part of the management of diversity. At the group level, it is necessary to understand the factors of inter-group conflict. When the conflict as the adverse effect of cultural diversity occurs, that is needed is a constructive management. Parties who have a burden of adaptation should be accommodative to other parties. Accommodation is conducted in the way of viewing the conflict, attitudes, and management style. It is also needs to be developed a communication climate that may reduce the prejudices which is the source of the practices of racism and discrimination.

Abstract

Development of tourism program is basically done as an effort to support income sources. Policy of tourism is a key factor in its. Facts showed that the policy has not been fully align ed to the local societies. Commodification of religious ceremony is a form of marketing process undertaken to attract tourists. Critical theory approach is used which the implications can be explored through the political economy perspective in the case studies. The results showed that policies of tourism lead to economic political activities in the form of commodification of religious ceremony. Hindu’s communities as an “object” of tourism policy implementation.
