Abstract

The increasing availability of fossil fuels and high emissions from combustion which have an impact on global warming has continued to emerge in recent years. One solution to this problem is the use of alternative fuel sourced from organic waste to become bioethanol fuel. The use of bioethanol as a fuel mixed with pertalite is expected to reduce consumption and dependence on fossil fuels. This research aims to analyze the effect of a mixture of biethanol and pertalite on the performance of a 150 cc 4 stroke of SI Engine. The test method was carried out by analyzing torque, power and specific fuel consumption using a mixture of pertalite and bioethanol 10% (PB10), 20% (PB20) and 30% (PB3) as well as 100% pertalite wiith a rotation variations of 5000 – 9000 rpm. The results of research performance show that there is an increase in torque and power with the addition of bioethanol into pertalite. Specific fuel consumption will decrease as the percentage of bioethanol mixed with pertalite fuel increases

Abstract

An automatic fish feeding and water pH control system for catfish farming is being developed. The system involves assembling and constructing a control circuit with electronic components and sensors, applying IoT technology to control the pH regulator remotely. The device is designed to control water pH through circulation and periodic measurement of water pH in the catfish pond using a pH sensor (PH4502C type). The system utilizes a digital RTC DS1307 module to schedule feeding times. Communication between a smartphone and the control circuit occurs over the internet for data transfer and commands. It enables feeding control for catfish ponds and integrates with smartphones. The machine designed for feeding and water pH regulation in fish farming uses an Arduino device with Node MCU as the control unit. The pH sensor and water pH regulator functions are implemented to control and check water acidity in the pond. Automation processes include using a servo motor for automatic feeding, a pH sensor for water pH measurement, and a water pump for pH regulation. The RTC serves as a digital clock to provide timing information to the microcontroller, ensuring the programmed tasks run as scheduled. The IoT system allows remote control and monitoring, enabling bidirectional communication using a WiFi adapter device, specifically the Node MCU. The Node MCU connects to a WiFi hotspot and interfaces with the Blynk server on the smartphone. The system's menu includes pH display, buttons to activate/deactivate the water pump, feeding control, and notifications.

Abstract

This study delved into the viability of biomethane as a cleaner alternative to fulfil Jakarta's substantial cooking energy needs, which is currently reliant on liquid petroleum gas (LPG). By harnessing waste streams from wastewater, organic waste, and crop residues in an anaerobic digester, biogas was produced and subsequently upgraded into biomethane. Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) was utilized to enhance biogas production efficiency. Biomethane production amounted to 1.58 million tons annually, covering approximately 68.74% of the cooking energy demand. Although this falls short of Jakarta's annual LPG demand of 2.88 million tons, the study proposes a distribution scheme to bridge this gap and facilitate the broader adoption of biomethane. This research underscores the potential of biomethane in reducing LPG dependency, offering promising avenues for sustainable urban energy solutions.

Abstract

Microstrip antennas play a crucial role in modern communication technology, with their performance dependent on shape and size. This study explores the impact of adding slots to hexagonal microstrip antenna radiation areas. The hexagonal shape was chosen due to its underexplored potential for slot additions. Slots act as elements influencing antenna radiation performance and altering characteristics. The research investigates the effects of various slot shapes and sizes (each with an area of 4 ) on hexagonal microstrip antennas at the initial frequency of 2.4 GHz. The importance of this study lies in the selected initial frequency, aligning with the micro-wave spectrum commonly used in wireless communication, radar, and telecommunications equipment. The hexagonal microstrip antenna, popular for its compact and efficient design, is relevant to modern communication devices.

Abstract

North Sumatra is a province that has a fairly extensive agricultural area. One of them is orange plants in the Besitang Sekoci plantation area, Langkat Regency and Karo Regency, North Sumatra Province. So, to support the quality of oranges, a sorting machine is needed that can guarantee the standardization of orange fruit, whether grade 1, 2, 3 and 4. In this research, an orange sorting machine will be designed and built. The sorting machine is designed and made using hollow iron measuring 40mm x 40mm, for the machine stand using UNP iron measuring 100 mm x 50 mm x 5 mm, the sorting or grade tube uses 12 inch paralon pipe, for the frame cover uses plate iron. with a thickness of 1.5mm, uses a conveyor as a distributor, uses an electric motor and gearbox connected to a pulley and belt to drive the machine. Before being built, the design results were also simulated using Solidworks software to determine the strength of the frame on the machine used and to obtain strong material quality when under load. From the simulation results, it is obtained that the machine design is safe to use. The orange fruit sorting machine is capable of sorting fruit according to size standards based on SNI 3165-2009 with a capacity of 500kg/hour.

Abstract

RAM or Radar Absorbent Material, is a substance designed to absorb radar or radio waves to prevent their reflection back toward the radar or enemy radar (Ishi et al. 2017). Extensive research has been conducted on RAM and its composition, particularly in the form of nanocomposites. To assess the effectiveness of a RAM's primary material, a key test is conducted to determine its electromagnetic wave absorption capability, known as the reflection loss test. This test quantifies a material's absorption ability, where a more negative reflection loss value indicates superior electromagnetic wave absorption. This literature review explores various nanocomposite materials and conductive polymers that can serve as the foundation for RAM. Notably, the PAni/Fe3O4 Nanocomposite emerges as the most efficient RAM material, boasting the lowest reflection loss at -53.7 dB.

Abstract

The optical glass used in LiDAR applications requires specific characteristics, including high strength and low porosity, to achieve optimal performance. One promising approach is the incorporation of alumina fibers as a reinforcement in the optical glass matrix. This research investigates the potential of alumina fibers in enhancing strength and reducing porosity in optical glass used in LiDAR applications. Alumina fibers are introduced into the optical glass matrix through a precise manufacturing process. The results of mechanical testing indicate that the addition of alumina fibers significantly increases the strength of the optical glass, making it more resistant to mechanical pressure that may occur during the use of LiDAR in challenging environments.

Abstract

In the industrial world, machines are widely used to facilitate a more effective and efficient way of working, by trying to abandon old work patterns that rely heavily on human labor along with the development of industrial technology 4.0 in observations made by researchers at household MSMEs in the snack food industry, in Titi Village Payung, Air Putih District, Batu Bara Regency. Processors of cassava and banana chips still use human power and use simple tools. The process of chopping cassava and banana chips is not done at a table, but is done directly on the floor. The chopping process in this condition causes an uncomfortable working position for the worker, because it is done with a bent back position, the head is always bowed and the legs are always bent. . This chopping process is usually carried out for 8 hours per day. The cassava and banana chopper tool at the research site's MSMEs has dimensions of 30 cm long, 15 cm wide and 21 cm high. On this basis, researchers consider it necessary to minimize the obstacles faced by cassava and banana chip managers, by making a cassava and banana chopping machine. The performance test results of the cassava and banana chopping machine obtained 1 kg of cassava and banana slices in 1 minute or the same as 60 kg in 60 minutes, with the resulting cassava and banana slices having a thickness of 1 - 2 mm. This cassava and banana chopping machine has been made to be more practical to use and can compete with domestically made products.
