Abstract

Determination of Ammonia Levels (NH3) in Mahakam River Water at 5 points around the city of Samarinda has been carried out. The method used is to use a spectrophotometer by the phenate method. The results obtained at these five points are samples of Mahakam river water (Loa Janan Ilir), Mahakam river water (Samarinda Seberang), Mahakam river water (Sungai Kunjang), Mahakam river water (Samarinda Kota) and Mahakam river water (Sambutan) respectively with a concentration was 0.1043 mg/L; 0.1141 mg/L; 0.1303 mg/L; 0.0812 mg/L and 0.1214 mg/L. These results indicate that the highest ammonia concentration is in the Mahakam River (Sungai Kunjang), which is possible due to the high activity of ships. Keywords: Ammonia, phenate method and Mahakam River

Abstract

The use of bangkirai wood sawdust as adsorbent for used lubricant (oil) adsorption has been carried out. The purpose of this research is to find out how activated charcoal from bangkirai wood sawdust (Shorea Lavefolia Endert) can be used as a lubricating adsorbent (oil) seen from the testing and characterization of activated charcoal. The process of making bangkirai wood sawdust activated charcoal 0 is through a carbonization process at 500 C for 15 minutes and an activation process is carried out in activated charcoal by soaking using 25% H3PO4 solution for 24 hours. Determination of the quality of activated charcoal is carried out by testing the moisture content, ash content and iodine absorption capacity. The results obtained were the water content of activated charcoal H3PO4 25% which was 1,0590%, the ash content of activated charcoal H3PO4 25% was 0,0998% and the absorption capacity of activated charcoal H3PO4 activated charcoal 25% was 375,3253 mg/g. The optimum conditions for the adsorption of used lubricant (oil) were using activated charcoal adsorbent bangkirai wood sawdust, namely the mass of 1,5 grams and the contact time of 30 minutes. Keywords: Adsorption, Oil, Activated Charcoal, sawdust, bangkirai wood

Abstract

Abstract

This research was conducted to the content of secondary metabolite of methanol extract of Cayratia carnosa leaf and activity toward Salmonella thypi and Propionibacterium acnes. The phytochemical test has tested by color testing and antibacterial activity carried out by agar diffution method. The secondary metabolites contained in the methanol extract from the Cayratia carnosa leaf are Flavonoids, Steroid and phenolic. Methanol extract from Cayratia carnosa leaf has a wide range of action. The value of Minimun Inhibitory Concentracion (MIC) for methanol extracts from the Cayratia carnosa leaf toward Salmonella thypi is between 6 to 8% and Propionibacterium acnes between 0.5 to 1%. Abstract

The Research has been conducted on the synthesis of chitosan-silica adsorbents from chitosan and silica derived from TEOS (Tetraethyl Orthosylicate). The chitosan-silica was made by mixing chitosan solution and silica soles that were previously chitosan we were added with acetic acid and silica solution we were added with aqueous solution, ethanol and HCl(p). The result from characterization of FT-IR chitosan-silica adsorbents indicates the presence of OH, NH2, Si-O, Si-O-Si, chitosan adsorbents that only have OH and NH2 groups and silica adsorbents that only have OH, Si-O and Si-O-Si groups. Application of chitosan, silica and chitosan-silica adsorbents to adsorp Cd2+ ion. Cd2+ ion concentration after adsorption was determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometer (AAS). Adsorption Cd2+ ion in chitosan-silica successfully indexed Cd2+ by 98.67% while for chitosan adsorbents by 97.87% and while silica adsorbents by 79.45%. The Sem results showed that when adsorbents before soaking with Cd2+ it was seen that the morphology of the surface of the pores adsorbent there is still a cavity then when after soaking with Cd2+ pores filled by ions Cd2+.

Abstract

The research about in vitro trakeospasmolytic response of methanol extract of Macaranga lamellata Whitmore leaves was carried out. This research was conducted to determine the spasmolytic effect of the methanol extract of Macaranga lamellata Whitmore leaves on changes in separate organ of the guinea pig ring tracheal. The methods used include the bioassay isolated organ with two groups of treatment, control group and extract group. Methanol extract was given cumulatively on the organ bath. Positive control is used aminofilin and negative control is used DMSO solvent. Phytochemical test results showed that total methanol extract contained alkaloids, polyphenol, steroids, flavonoids dan saponins while phytochemical test results showed on ethyl acetate fraction contained alkaloids, polyphenol, steroids, quinons dan flavonoids. The Percentage change in tracheal smooth muscle as a spasmolytic response by using methanol extract with cumulative concentration of 0.3, 1 dan 3 mg/mL respectively -24.925%; -29.865% and -36.795% . This research is shown methanol extract of Macaranga lamellata Whitmore leaves have antiasthma effect based on the tracheospasmolytic activity. Keywords: Antiasthma, Bioassay isolated organ, Macaranga lamellata Whitmore, Marmot, Trakeopasmolytic.

Abstract

Research on the adsorption of benzoic acid compounds using activated carbon of banana stems (Musa paradisiaca L) has been carried out. The method used is adsorption with activated adsorbent modification. SEM morphological results on banana stems showed differences before and after activation. From the research results obtained the optimum adsorption concentration of activated carbon of banana stems at adsorbent weight of 0.6 grams, xylene concentration of 40 ppm and adsorption capacity of 1.165 mg/g. Optimum time of activated carbon of banana stem was 0.4 gram, adsorption time was 45 minutes and adsorption capacity was 1.772 mg/g.
