Abstract

The use of computers is now commonplace among individuals, ranging from students to professionals. Computers offer numerous advantages, leading to a high dependency on them, particularly among office workers, who incorporate computer usage into their daily activities. In general, the occupational setting necessitates prolonged computer usage, thereby leading to inadvertent exposure to the computer screen/monitor and subsequent development of eye-related complaints, including Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). This study aimed to investigate the correlation between eye distance to the computer and the occurrence of CVS symptoms. This research employs an analytical observational study design with a cross-sectional approach. The study sample consists of employees from the Middle Type Customs and Excise Service Office (KPPBC TMC) in Malang. The sample selection was based on the prolonged duration of computer usage, averaging 6 hours per working day. The study findings indicated a significant correlation between the viewing distance to the computer screen and the occurrence of CVS complaints among the respondents. Among the total of 65 respondents, 66.2% experienced CVS complaints, with the most predominant symptom being tired eyes at 53.8%. A higher proportion of respondents (53.8%) had an eye distance from the computer of less than 50 cm, compared to those with an eye distance of more than 50 cm (46.2%). The majority of respondents in this study were in the age range of 25-29 years, comprising 40% of the sample. Among them, the majority were male, accounting for 57.7% of the respondents.

Abstract

Physical fitness is a condition in which a person can carry out daily activities in a healthy and fit condition without quickly experiencing fatigue. Several factors can affect fitness level, such as a decrease in the hormone melatonin caused by insomnia. It will affect circadian rhythms and reduce a person's physical activity, thus affecting fitness level. To observe the relationship between insomnia and fitness level in Medical Faculty students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. This study used a cross-sectional analytic observational study design. Primary data was obtained from the results of the Harvard Step Test and the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI) questionnaire. The subjects were selected through a non-probability sampling technique by purposive sampling. The statistical tests used were Fisher’s test and logistic regression. The result is 42 male students were selected from all Medical Faculty students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto. The bivariate analysis showed that the percentage of non-insomnia respondents with poor fitness level was 73.9% and those with good fitness level was 26.1%. While the percentage of insomnia respondents with poor fitness level is 84.2% and those with good fitness level is 15.8%. Fisher’s analysis results showed a p-value 0.477 (p>0.05). There is no relationship between insomnia and fitness level in Medical Faculty students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Purwokerto.

Abstract

Enhanced Recovery After Caesarian Surgery (ERACS) is the development of sectio caesarean delivery techniques that offer preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care to hasten patient recovery. The ERACS technique is related to using low-dose spinal anesthesia, which is using a bupivacaine dose of 3.75–12 mg. The use of low doses in sectio caesarean can help the speed of patient mobilization, which can be measured by achieving a Bromage score. The study aims to compare the effectiveness of giving low-dose spinal anesthesia type bupivacaine 6 mg compared to bupivacaine 7.5 mg on the post-sectio caesarea mobilization speed of the ERACS (Enhanced Recovery After Caesarian Surgery) method at Hermina General Hospital Purwokerto. This type of research is observational and analytical with a cross-sectional study approach. The sampling technique used was consecutive sampling, so a study sample of 58 respondents was obtained, which was divided into two groups, namely the bupivacaine dose group of 6 mg and the bupivacaine dose group of 7.5 mg. Results were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. The results of statistical tests showed that the bupivacaine group at a dose of 6 mg and the bupivacaine group at a dose of 7.5 mg (p = 0.534) did not have a significant difference in effectiveness against the onset of post-sectio caesarean mobilization speed of the ERACS method (P > 0.05). This study concludes that there is no difference between the comparison of the effectiveness of administering low-dose spinal anesthesia type bupivacaine 6 mg compared to bupivacaine 7.5 mg on the speed of mobilization after caesarean section using the ERACS (Enhanced Recovery After Caesarian Surgery) method at Hermina General Hospital Purwokerto. The maximum time achieved for the onset of mobilization after ERACS to achieve a bromage score is in the range of 1 – 2 hours (60 – 120 minutes) with the level of mobilization after caesarean section being a score of 1 and a score of 0.

Abstract

Burn injuries remain to be a significant issue. The environmental condition in Indonesia contributes to the prevalence of diverse bacterial infection associated with different types of wounds, including burns. The biofilms production at the site of burn wounds significantly contributes to the ineffectiveness of burn treatment protocols. Hereby in this paper we discuss about the mechanism of antibiofilm and the novel therapy for the burn injury.  This study was classified as a systematic review approach. The compilation of references will be derived from journal articles obtained using search engines such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and EBSCO. Subsequently, the authors proceed to gather and reevaluate pertinent material and scholarly articles. The occurrence of biofilm is closely associated with burn injuries. These bacterial communities evoke antibiotic resistance, hence impeding the effectiveness of conventional treatment approaches. It is noteworthy that substantially 60% of burn-related mortality is attributed to biofilms. This condition has the potential to develop into a persistent wound, ultimately resulting in sepsis. The development of biofilm or invasive burn wound infection serves as a significant catalyst for the occurrence of sepsis. The administration of anti-biofilm drugs holds significant potential in this context as a proactive measure for reducing the worsening effects of burns. Conclusion : The utilization of anti-biofilm agents has the potential to serve as an innovative therapeutic approach for the treatment of burn wounds in the future. Further investigation is required to explore the potential outcome as well as adverse effects of this drug linked to its potency.

Abstract

Medical students are prone to experiencing stress during the lecture period due to the demands of the learning process. Women experience stress more easily than men due to a higher body response to stress. Exercise is known to help reduce stress because it stimulates the release of endorphins in the body. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there is a relationship between sports activity and stress in female students at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The research was conducted in January 2021 with a sample of 127 people and was taken using the technique of purposive sampling, that is, female students who are sampled must comply with the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data was collected using a questionnaire (Godin-Shepard). Leisure Time Physical Activity and Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale (THAT)-21 The results of data analysis using the Kruskal-Wallis test show a value of p = 0.614 (p > 0.05), which indicates that there is no relationship between sports activity and stress levels in female students at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Muhammadiyah Malang
