POLITEA Jurnal Pemikiran Politik Islam diterbitkan dua kali dalam setahun (setiap enam bulan sekali, terbit bulan Juni dan Desember) oleh Program Studi Pemikiran Politik Islam Fakultas Dakwah dan Komunikasi Islam Institut Agama Islam Negeri (IAIN) Kudus.

Islam is not limited to religion that only talks about God. Islam has a comprehensive concept in all aspects of life, one of the aspect is politics (siyasa) that discusses the concept of the state, the exercise of power, who deserves to exercise power, how much power they can have, and the characteristics and objectives of Islamic politics itself. Political party is a superstructure in a political system that carries out several strategic functions, including political socialization, political recruitment, political articulation and aggregation of interests. Political party also has an important position in the policy making process. This paper aims to analyze how the dynamics of Islamic politics in Indonesia in the middle of multicultural society by carrying out its function as an articulator and aggregator of interests.

Strategic Dimensions of Public Administration in Islam. Public administration as the work of government to governance all resources in serving public to gain public welfare. Therefore there are some strategic dimensions concerning to the governance of public administration such as public policy, structure of organization, management, ethic, environment and performance. Those dimensions would not running and inter connected well, when the values are different and bad behaviour such as corruption, laziness, ego, still become apart of public administrators. The value of Islam as the believe to Allah, guide the human to life and work well, dependently or independently. Islam govern the society to runs Allah’s rules in their daily life. This paper through literature research tried to explaining how the values of Islam covering the strategic dimensions in public administration. As a moslem country, Indonesia needs to understand how’s the values of Islam and how to implement the values in their daily lives. After announcing as an independent state, the Republic of Turkey adopted the secularism system as the principle of the new Turkish state. In simple terms, the Turkish state released the Islamic identity that had been attached and identical to the Ottoman Turkish empire which had lasted for 700 years. In implementing the secularism policy, the Turkish government faces challenges from Muslims / Islamists who want to build secularism by carrying out rebellions or participating in elections with the aim of restoring sharia or wanting to establish an Islamic state again. This study aims to trace the roots of Turkish Islamism in the modern period or after the founding of the Republic of Turkey. By using historical research methods and the use of qualitative methods. This study found several factors that influenced the rise of Turkish Islamism. One of them is the vital role of the tarekat centered in the Iskenderpasa Mosque, led by Sheikh Mehmet Zahid Kotku. In an effort to fight secularism, the tarekat mobilized their members to take an active part in the elections in Turkey. Many of the tarekat members, especially the Naqshbandiyah who occupy important positions in Turkey, such as Turgut Ozal, the former President of Turkey, Erbakan, the former Prime Minister of Turkey, one of the important actors in the rise of the current Islamic Party, Recep Tayyib Erdogan, are also members of the congregation of the Naqshbandiyah Order.

Tulisan ini mencoba untuk melihat dinamika politik luar negeri Indonesia dalam merespon kebijakan luar negeri Amerika Serikat terhadap Palestina. Indonesia sebagai negara yang konsisten dalam memertahankan kedaulatan Palestina memberikan respon terkadap kebijakan Presiden Amerika Serikat Donald Trump terhadap pemindahan wilayah ibu kota Israel ke Yerussalem. Tentu hal ini memberikan dampak respon terhadap negara-negara Islam terutama Indonesia. Selain itu, penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan melihat mengumpulkan berbagi sumber ilmiah, baik dari jurnal, koran, buku-buku dan website serta sumber ilmiah lainnya. Indonesia melalui kebijakan luar negerinya melakukan berbagai pendekatan terhadap negara-negara di dunia dalam memberikan respon atas kebijakan Tramp tersebut.

PSEUDO DEMOCRACY: POLITICAL IMAGING WITHIN ISLAMIC FRAMEWORK AND IMPLICATIONS FOR GOOD GOVERNANCEIndonesia, as a Muslim-majority country, weaponizes Islam in politics to win over the voices of Muslims in the country. This method is not allowed to be implemented in Indonesia which adheres to a democratic system. Principally, political imaging is carried out in order to influence society by instilling opinions. Regardless of the purpose of imaging, gaining public trust is way more important rather than just having a good image. Public trust is gained through the credibility of the candidates. The said credibility is achieved when the candidates act in a way that is in line with what they said or promised. Candidates can apply political imagery through good governance to gain public trust without having to accentuate the image of the politicization of Islam. This article aims to see how political imaging should be carried out from an Islamic perspective. The method used to study the problems is qualitative. The result of this study shows that the plurality that exists in Indonesia requires special attention from the government to manage the political religions which can create controversy between religious communities. In order to build an essential democracy in Indonesia and avoid the presence of political power of religious identity in the political arena, every candidate must avoid identity involvement in the electoral arena as a way of avoiding the awakening of identity and its sentiment that occurs in Indonesia.

This paper explains the problem of the journey of Islamic law towards positive law in Indonesia in the perspective of legal politics Mahfud MD with the aim of actualizing Islamic law in the present in the Indonesian context. With a normative legal approach, analytical descriptive, this paper concludes that the actualization of Islamic legal politics in the thinking of Mahfud MD can be done through two approaches. The first is the cultural approach that massively Islamic law directly interacts with the culture and traditions that apply and develop in certain societies. Through acculturation of culture, Islamic law can adjust adaptation and dialogue with various social societies with a variety of traditions dynamically without losing theirauthenticity as humanitarian teachings. Both substantive approaches prioritize the spirit of Islamic universalism by not formalizing Islamic law positively both in law, local regulations and so on. Thus the actualization of Islamic law politics Mahfud MD is an offer to the formulation of Islamic law with the positivation of Islamic law in Indonesia through an elaborative approach combining cultural approaches and substantive approaches to real Indonesian law. This paper explains the actualization of Bustanul Arifin thought on the politics of Islamic law in Indonesia which aims to find out first, how the epistemology of Bustanul Arifin thoughts on Indonesian Islamic law and scond, how the actualization of Indonesian Islamic law politics from Bustanul Arifin's perspective. This research is a library research or library research, which is carried out by collecting library data by using a critical social and political approach. The research concludes that first, the epistemology used by Bustanul Arifin is to position the Koran and al-Sunnah as the main sources in Islamic law and the development of legal values in the Koran and al-Sunnah using the Ijmak and Qiyas methods in Islamic law. Second, the actualization of Islamic law politics Bustanul Arifin's thought is to elaborate Islamic law with positive law through the transformation of Islamic law in state legislation and institutions, so that there is a union between Islamic law and State law within the framework of State institutions which he calls the institutionalization of Islamic law. Thus, the step that needs to be developed is to determine an institution that is in accordance with the principles and values of Islamic law in the Indonesian context.

The Strategic Trade Policy of China in Sub-Saharan Africa Countries. In the past decade, Sub-Saharan Africa has been transformed into the 'rising continent'. The growth of the Sub-Saharan economy averages 6%. Some countries in Sub-Saharan are included in the most developed countries in the world. Economic growth, abundant natural resources, and a large population become the potential of Sub-Sahara to become a main trading partner for China as a global economic power. To enhance trade cooperation, China formed a Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC). Through this forum, China offers a new development model, namely the Beijing consensus by prioritizing the principle of non-interference. This research aimes to find out the strategic trade policy of China to enhance economic benefits from multilateral cooperation. This research applies descriptive qualitative research method with the strategic trade policy as the research analytical framework. This research finds that China applies some of strategic trade policy in Sub Sahara Africa : sectoral targets, Special Economic Zones (SEZs), liberation of foreign investation, and export subsidies.Keywords: FOCAC Strategic Trade Policy (STP), Sub-Sahara Afrika

Civil Society is considered as the third space outside the state and market where people can express their opinions and make certain contributions to create a condition in accordance with the certain values they profess. As the time progresses, with the development of information and globalization, the demand for bigger civic space is undeniable and the need for society to be able to contribute to an issue that occurs outside the border of their country is arising. This encourages the role of civil society to contribute to humanitarian diplomacy efforts where the role of the community and non-state actors is needed in solving transnational problems. This issue is exemplified by the role of various religious organizations in Indonesia through their contribution in helping to solve humanitarian problems in Rakhine State, of Myanmar between 2012 to 2018. Through a humanitarian diplomacy approach, these various religious organizations collaborated with the Indonesian government to send various types of assistance. This paper will explain why the role of religious organizations in Indonesia as the representation of civil society is significant in the humanitarian diplomacy effort of the Rakhine State Crisis. This paper will also provide a descriptive narrative related to how these contributions are channelled and delivered to the conflict-affected communities in Myanmar.

Syuro has an important role in Islam. As a decision-making mechanism, syuro plays an important role in every aspect of human life. Syuro is also understood as an appreciation of the freedom of expression of human beings in social relations. Therefore, the true syuro in Islam is not always identical to politics. It's just that, as a large part of human life, the role of politics in social life is also very important. As a means of upholding shari'a, politics is considered capable of providing good legal certainty for human social life and also in determining a political leader. Due to these interests, the role of syuro in politics cannot be avoided. Syuro in Islamic politics cannot be directly equated with the practice of deliberation in the current political phenomenon. In addition to the uniqueness of the concept that emphasizes respect for human dignity in terms of his freedom, syuro in Islam places great emphasis on scientific authority, syuro in Islam is also not always identical with the concept of majority rule, because the basis is sharia. So if the majority opinion is contrary to what is in sharia, then the majority opinion is not acceptable.
