Abstract

This kinetic study was done using two kind of variations, namely loading variations (600, 1800, 3400 and 4800 mg/l COD) and fill-react ratio variations (2:2, 2:4, and 2:8) by investigating main parameters, namely COD, VSS and total volatile acid (TVA), beside the other data such as CO2, gas concentration, DO, temperature and pH. And to investigate the role of microorganism, control was conducted with the absence of biomass. During filling period, the yield coefficient was 0,42-0,88 gVSS/gCOD. During reacting period, the yield coefficient was 0,39-0,93 gVSS/gCOD and specific biomass decay rate constant (Kd) 0,021 hour-1.

Abstract

Sampah yang dipergunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah jerami, sampah kebun, sampah pasar dan sampah campuran. Bibit Jamur ditanam pada media tanam dengan variasi 200 gram/m2, 300 gram/m2 dan 400 gram/m2. Jamur dapat dipanen stelah 19 harisudah dapat dipanen. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam uji eksperimental ini menunjukkan bahwa pada media seluas 1 m2, media jerami menghasilkan jamur merang sebesar 900 gr ; media sampah kebun sebesar 450 gr ; media sampah pasar sebesar 950 gr dan media campuran sebesar 1 kg. Jumlah bibit 200 gram/m2 memberikan hasil yang paling baik.

Abstract

This research was aimed to determine fermentation influence to soya nutrition. The variations in this research were fermentation period (1 day, 2 days, 3 days, 4 days, 5 days and 6 days) and bio-N concentration (10 ml/2 kg soya waste, 20 ml/2kg tofu waste and 30 ml/2 kg tofu waste). The nutrition which examined with proksimat analysis were rough protein, rough fibre, extract non nitrogen (BETN), rough fat. The result showed that the optimum period of fermentation was 4 days and the effective bio-N concentration was 20 ml/2 kg tofu waste. The rough protein increased to 26,07%, and rough fat increased to 17,35%.

Abstract

Membran bertekanan rendah dengan ukuran pori 0,01- 10 mm mampu menghilangkan suspended solid, minyak, bakteri, dan berbagai impuritis lainnya dari air baku. Hasil penelitian diperoleh adanya pengaruh tekanan operasi, kondisi pH, konsentrasi SS, dan periode operasi terhadap kinerja proses membran mikrofiltrasi. Efisiensi penyisihan Escherichia coli maksimum diperoleh 99,996% pada tekanan operasi 1.00 Kg/Cm2; 99,999 % pada pH 6; dan 99,998 % pada SS 100 mg/L. Fluks maksimum diperoleh sebesar 82,032 L/m2jam pada tekanan operasi 1,25 Kg/Cm2; 68,074 L/m2jam pada pH 2; 65,250 L/m2jam pada SS sebesar 20 mg/L.

Abstract

The research was aimed to obtain optimized performance of aerobic hybrid reactor. This research was performed in laboratory-scale. In order to obtain an optimal reduction of organic content, variations of media ratio (0%, 15%, 30% and 45%), recirculation ratio (0%, 25%, 50% and 75%) and sludge age (10 days and 20 days) were made. The result showed that media ratio, resirculation ratio and sludge age gave significant effect to organic removal. The Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) removal rate was 78,19% which occurred at 30% media ratio, 75% recirculation ratio and sludge age of 20 day.

Abstract

To lengthen the life of solid waste final disposal site (TPA) the mass flow of solid should reduced by reduction, recycling and solid waste processings. The mass flow can be determined by surveys of the waste mass at source, at temporary disposal site (TPS) and TPA. The survey was done at markets, commercial, housing areas of high, medium and low income groups. Recycling rate of solid waste in Surabaya City was 16%, 13% at TPA and 3% at TPS. The solid waste generation was 5.655 ton/day and those which enter the was 3.118 ton/day. Solid waste that was deposited at TPA was 2.896 ton/day.

Abstract

Photochemistry, as well as H2O2 as oxidator and TiO2 as catalyst in the photochemical process, has been widely used as one of alternatives in the wastewater treatment process. During the photocemical process, hydroxyl radical is formed, and it reduces organics substances present in the wastewater, such as textile colouring. The research showed that the usage of UV/H2O2, with 0,05% dosage of H2O2, gave the maximum colouring removal of 99,2%. The combination of UV/TiO2, with 1% dosage of TiO2, gave the maximum colouring removal of 27,8%. As well as these, the combination of UV/H2O2/TiO2 with ratio of H2O2:TiO2 = 1:0, gave the maximum removal of 99,2%.

Abstract

Surabaya with 3.5 millons of population needs clean water about 10 m3/s. Large quantities of water must be supplied from Surabaya river as water source. Yet the river has polluted by detergent. It caused the clean water to contain detergent exceed the Indonesian Minister of Health Limit (0.05 mg/l detergent as LAS). In the other side moringa oleifera seed can adsorp detergent in water. Parameters, which duration influence the adsorption are detergent initial concentration, concentration and size of the seed, and time of adsorption. The adsorption process follows Freundlich isotherm adsorption model.
