Abstract

Hajj is the perfect worship of Islam which is the dream of all Muslims. So that the implementation of the pilgrimage is legal according to the law, a guidebook in the form of Hajj rituals is made. One of the ancient manuscripts containing Hajj rituals is the Manāsikul Hajji I by Ahmad Rivai and Manāsikul Hajji wal Umrah wa Adab Az-Ziyarah li Sayyidil Mursalīn by Kiai Sholeh Darat As-Samarani. This paper will examine philologically and reception with an intertextual approach to the two texts to find out how the relationship between the two texts is related. . Then the data is presented by descriptive method. The results of this study indicate that the book of Manāsikul Hajji as a welcoming text from the previous text, namely the book of Manāsikul Hajji wal Umrah wa Adab Az-Ziyarah li Sayyidil Mursalīn.

Abstract

This research paper discusses cultural, social, personality, behavioral system and cybernetics relationship in Christina Koning’s Just Like A Young Girl Should. The focus of this research covers the analysis of cultural system encompassing constitution symbol, cognition symbol, evaluation symbol, and expression symbol, social system covering status and role of people in society, personality system including race identity, id, ego, and super ego, behavioral system referring to tendency of society behaviors, and cybernetics relationship reflected in the short story. The comprehensive approach used in this research is eclectic approach by combining more than one research approach to analyze the related phenomena in the short story which is endorsed with Talcott Parsons’s Action Theory. The result of this research indicates that cultural, social, personality, behavioral system, and cybernetics relationship are reflected in teenagers’ life of the main characters in the short story, Kitty and Alain.

Abstract

Globalization, one of which is characterized by advances in the field of communication and information technology, one side does provide many conveniences, but on the other hand there are negative impacts caused by this research aims to analyze the importance of Pancasila values as a paradigm for cultural development in the global era. This research is qualitative research in the field of philosophy. The method used in this study is synthesis analysis with methodical elements of interpretation. The formulation of the results in this study is that globalization is an era in which there is a process of internationalization, namely the unification of the world that produces a global culture called a culture without space boundaries. Therefore, in the development of culture in Indonesia, it must remain oriented towards the personality of the nation, which is based on Pancasila. Culture must be developed in accordance with human nature. Cultural development based on the values of Pancasila as a paradigm will form a society oriented towards the goal of uplifting human dignity and dignity. Pancasila as a cultural paradigm means Pancasila as a normative source for increasing humanization in the cultural field

Abstract

Each community has different health behaviors that have been adapted to their respective cultures. Health perceptions and behaviors carried out by the people of Morodemak have a major influence from the unstable living environment. The people of Morodemak often ignore health problems that occur because they are considered to have other problems that are considered more important. The purpose of this research is to describe and find out health behavior is carried out by the coastal society of Morodemak. The theory used in this research is the theory of Preced Proceed by Lawrence Green and health behavior according to Notoatmodjo. This research is qualitative research with an emic perspective, data collection techniques carried out by participant observation and in-depth interviews method. The results of this research indicate that the perception of the coastal society of Morodemak on health has an influence on their health behavior. People who live in Morodemak have their own assessment of their health condition so that health behavior whose carried out by the coastal society of Morodemak is based more on what they believe and only on what they need.

Abstract

By translating many books of jurisprudence and Sufism in Javanese, KH Sholeh Darat delivered a message of da'wah at the house of the Regent of Demak which was the uncle of R.A. Kartini. KH Sholeh Darat translates the Quran in Javanese using Arabic Pegon. The book was recorded as the first translation book in the world in Javanese. The first book of interpretation in Arabic Javanese Pegon was given the name Faidhur Rohman. In his missionary ethos, KH Soleh Darat was very concerned about how Javanese culture and character education of Javanese people lack understanding in Arabic. Therefore, the effort to translate various books into banhasa Jawa is nothing more than the process of Javanese Islamization which is very accommodating to Javanese culture. One of the books that reveals the Javanese ethic of Sufism is the Syarah Al Hikam Book.This research is based on the consideration that the manuscript includes some of the cultural riches of the archipelago of the past century which until now can still be saved. Therefore, this manuscript needs to be studied philologically and thematically, especially the values of the propaganda of KH Sholeh Darat which provide a wind of harmony in religion. Through intertextual studies this study intends to find the character relationship of Syarah Al Hikam KH Soleh Darat. Through the learning of the Al Hikam book, traces of Islamic thought and the method of da'wah that combines Islamic culture and Javanese culture, accommodating, moderate, between the Shari'a and the tarekat is the harmonization of Islam can be accepted in the multicultural society in Semarang and Java in the 19th century

Abstract

Since the growth of the Indonesian press industry in the 1970s, popular novels have been carried away by the rapid development of the mass media world. Because, there are facts and data that most of Indonesia's popular novels were originally published as serials in newspapers and magazines. Conclusively, people can classify certain novels into "serious" novels or popular novels. Subjective reasons are not appropriate to be used as criteria to determine certain novels as "serious" novels or popular novels, because the considerations used are only based on personal perception. Of course, this is not scientifically justifiable, because it is not based on clear theories and methods, for example by looking at the intrinsic and extrinsic structures, or also the sociological aspects. Therefore, an inventory of the intrinsic characteristics of popular novels is very important. These characteristics include romantic-sentimental, love and household themes, single plot, straight plot, contemporary dialogue, physical background from a rich family environment, educated family, campus, spectacular and explosive character, anti-double meaning, no need for aesthetic understanding

Abstract

. [Editorial Cartoons Used to Present Implied Meaning Related to Hong Kong Extradition Bill Protests]. In communication, people may express their meaning implicitly. They use different forms of expressions but mean the same thing. The expressions used are not always vocal symbols or linguistic ones but also nonvocal symbols like cartoons. The cartoons can also be the context of the vocal symbols like in this study. This research aims to investigate the implied meaning (implicature) used in the editorial cartoons of the Hong Kong Extradition Bill. To study this, non-participant observation was used to collect the data. There were 12 editorial cartoons on the Taipei Times news website. Using Relevance Theory, the writers analyzed the data using referential, inferential, and pragmatic methods to uncover the implied meaning of the editorial cartoons. The results indicate that the journalist uses the implied meaning or implicature of the editorial cartoons to criticize, forewarn, and provide information. The meaning can be figured out since background knowledge can be used to decode the meaning transmitted. Besides, the context of the situation plays an important role to understand the meaning.
