Abstract

One of the Japanese work culture that is widely applied in many countries is 5S (Seiri, Seiton, Siso, Seiketsu and Shitsuke ). 5S not only practice in company activity but also in life activity. In company especially at manufacturing industry, 5S practice will produce qualified product. Although 5S culture easy to understand and simple, but it is need a consistency and very difficult to be applied. Therefore, practice of 5S especially 5S habituations not only practice in company but also in many educational institution for example school, university and orphanage.

Abstract

This service’s activity to society aims to find out introduce the art of Japanese flower arrangement (ikebana)and how to make ikebana to the mothers of nursing homes for Wening Wardhoyo. Through this activity, it is expected that nursing home residents Wening Wardhoyo can find out the types of ikebana and how to make them. This service’s activity to societyactivities in the form of training were attended by around 35 participants. The following is the sequence of activities: 1) dividing participants into groups and accompanied by a companion; 2) see a video that shows how to make the Ikebana; 3) distributing flowers, materials and equipment needed; and 4) The companion starts the activity by soaking the oasis as a medium to plant flowers. Then cut flowers at the request of participants; 5) The flowers that have been cut, are then assembled and plugged in by the participants alternately and the participants create according to their own desires. From this activity nursing home residents have activities in their spare time and training activities to make ikebana will grow new memories in their old age. Moreover, the participants could feel happy because even though they were in a nursing home in their old age there were still people who loved and cared for their existence.Keywords:ikebana, nursing home, wening wardhoyo, oasis

Abstract

This contribution to society activity’s (KKN) is about Japanese quick count style in Mathematics. The object of this activity is students of Elementary School in Karanggondang village, Mlonggo District, Jepara Regency. This activity is supported by LPPM, lecturer of KKN, and students of KKN. To run this programme, the KKN team is partnered with Karanggondang Elementary school. As a preparation for national exam, this programme is aimed at the students of 5th grade. The output of this activity are video and module.

Abstract

This contribution to society event (PKM)’s theme is about making bentou. The object are children of GKI. This event is supported by the PKM team and GKI as a partner. This event has given a lot of contributions besides the skill of making bentou. The other contributions are improving children’s creativity, improving soft skill, and also improving children meticulous, etc. The output of this event is bentou as a product.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dapat dilakukan dengan berbasis folklor. Pembelajaran bahasa Inggris berbasis folklor dapat digunakan untuk pengembangan pariwisata setempat. Hal ini telah dilakukan dalam kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat pada bulan Oktober-November 2018, yaitu kepada para siswa SMA Mardisiswa Semarang dengan menggunakan folklor Pekalongan. Kegiatan tersebut meliputi pembelajaran writing dan writing berbasis folklore Pekalongan. Manfaat yang dapat diperoleh dari kegiatan pembelajaran tesebut adalah peningkatan kompetensi menulis dan berbicara dalam bahasa Inggris serta pemahaman terhadap folklor Pekalongan. Di samping itu, kegiatan tersebut bermanfaat untuk pengembangan pariwisata setempat di Pekalongan.Kata kunci: Pembelajaran bahasa Inggris, folklor Pekalongan, pengembangan pariwisata. ABSTRACT Learning English can be done in various ways, including folklore based. Folklore-based English learning can be used for local tourism development. This has been done in community service activities in October-November 2018, namely to students of Mardisiswa Semarang High School using Pekalongan folklore. These activities include Pekalongan folklore learning writing and speaking. The benefits that can be obtained from these learning activities are improving writing and speaking competences in English as well as understanding Pekalongan folklore. In addition, these activities are beneficial for the development of local tourism in Pekalongan.Keywords: English Learning, Pekalongan folklore, tourism development.

Abstract

This service’s activity to society aims to find out the interest and literacy abilities of elementary, junior high and junior high school youth in Wonokerto subdistrict, methods that can be applied to improve the culture of young generation literacy in Wonokerto Subdistrict, and obstacles that cause low literacy culture in Wonokerto Subdistrict. Service’s activity to societyactivities aimed to improving literacy culture were carried out in four villages in Wonokerto District for seven weeks. In the first week of observation, situation analysis and action determination; in the second week preparing a proposal and submitting a permit; in the third week until the sixth week, socializing, training and evaluating; and in the seventh week compiling reports and devotion articles. Abstract

Ketrampilan menulis praktis dalam bahasa Inggris merupakan bekal tambahan yang berguna untuk menunjang pencarian kerja. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan bekal penulisan praktis dalam bahasa Inggris kepada para siswa kelas XI SMA Mardisiswa Semarang. Penulisan deskriptif praktis berdasarkan model paragraf hamburger ini sangat mudah untuk dilakukan dan cocok untuk latihan penulisan. Fokus pelatihan adalah pada penulisan promosi wisata yang berdasarkan pada folklor. Metode pelatihan yang digunakan adalah metode bilingual yang memiliki beberapa kelebihan yang berguna untuk mengajarkan penulisan paragraf dalam bahasa Inggris pada para siswa yang bahasa ibunya bukan bahasa Inggris. Pelatihan diberikan dalam dua tahap, yaitu tahap pemaparan teori dan contoh serta tahap pelatihan. Hasil pelatihan menunjukkan bahwa para siswa sangat antusias dan aktif mengikuti setiap tahap pelatihan karena ternyata menulis dalam bahasa Inggris tidaklah menakutkan atau sulit seperti yang sering dibayangkan. Oleh karena itu, direkomendaskan agar pelatihan praktis seperti ini sering diberikan sebagai bekal untuk memasuki dunia kerja.Kata kunci :  paragraf hamburger, metode bilingual, folklor.A practical writing skill in English is an additional provision useful to support job search. This community service aims to provide a practical writing skill in English to the 11th grade students of Mardisiswa High School Semarang. Practical descriptive writing based on paragraph hamburger model is very easy to do. The focus of the training is on tourism promotion writing based on folklore. The training method used is the bilingual method which has several advantages that are useful for teaching paragraph writing in English to students whose mother tongue is not English. The training is given in two stages, namely the stage of presentation of the theory and examples and the training phase. The results of the training showed that the students were very enthusiastic and active in participating in each training phase because it turns out writing in English is not as scary or difficult as often imagined. Therefore, it is recommended that practical training like this is often given as a provision to enter the workforce.Keywords : paragraph hamburger, bilingual method, folklore .

Abstract

 Jepang dikenal sebagai negara modern yang masih menjaga kelestarian berbagai budaya tradisionalnya, salah satunya adalah sadou atau upacara minum teh. Sadou sebenarnya merupakan budaya asli Cina yang dibawa ke Jepang oleh seorang pendeta Buddha yang kemudian dimodifikasi sehingga sekarang dikenal luas sebagai budaya tradisional Jepang. Selain sebagai bagian dari Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dalam bentuk workshop ini juga bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan keinginan dan semangat bagi generasi muda, khususnya siswa SMA, untuk menjaga dan melestarikan budaya tradisional bangsa sendiri. Kegiatan ini dilaksanakan dua kali, yaitu pada tanggal 20 Oktober dan 4 November 2018, yang bertempat di Fakultas Ilmu Budaya Universitas Diponegoro. Dari workshop ini, para peserta menjadi tahu bahwa negara Jepang yang telah sangat maju dan modern tetap berupaya keras dengan berbagai cara untuk melestarikan budaya tradisionalnya di tengah derasnya arus budaya asing yang masuk ke Jepang.Kata kunci :  sadou, ritual, budaya tradisional ABSTRACT Japan is known as a modern country that still maintains the preservation of various traditional cultures, one of which is sadou or tea ceremony. Sadou is actually a native Chinese culture that was brought to Japan by a Buddhist priest who was later modified so that it is now widely known as traditional Japanese culture. Aside from being part of the Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi, this workshop as community service activity also aim to foster the enthusiasm of young generation, especially high school students, to preserve the Indonesian traditional culture. This activity was held twice on October 20 and November 4, 2018, which took place at the Faculty of Humanities, Diponegoro University. From this workshop, the participants learned that the highly developed and modern Japan is still working hard in various ways to preserve its traditional culture in the midst of the heavy flow of foreign cultures entering Japan.Keywords : sadou, ritual, traditional culture
