Abstract

Seni kerajinan Laker Palembang merupakan produk budaya masa lampau yang diwariskan dari generasi ke genarasi, di dalamnya terkandung nilai sejarah, budaya, sosial, agama dan nilai estetik. kerajinan Laker ini menjadi seni kerajinan yang unik, yang tidak biasa dari yang umumnya. Keunikan kerajnan ini dapat dilihat dari tahapan awal proses penggarapan, ornamentasi, pewarnaan hingga penyajiannya, baik sebagai sarana budaya maupun sebagai benda seni kerajinan yang bernilai adiluhung. Oleh karena itu, sebagai produk yang berharga dan bernilai tradisi perlu adanya upaya untuk mempertahankan dan mengembangkan produk itu sendiri. Salah satunya adalah melalui kajian estetika. Kajian estetika terhadap seni kerajinan Laker ini adalah sesuatu hal yang begitu penting bagi penulis, karena banyak unsur-unsur yang terkait dengan persoalan keindahan di dalamnya, baik dari segi bentuk, warna, maupun fungsi produk merupakan langkah awal untuk mendalami kerajinan Laker Palembang dan dapat dikembangkan dalam penciptaan karya seni kriya yang kreatif.The craft of Palembang Laker is past cultural product inherited from generation to generation and has historical, cultural, social, religious, and aesthetic values. This Laker craft is a unique craft that’s different from ordinary craft. This craft uniqueness can be seen from the processes of workmanship, ornamentation, coloration, and presentation whether it’s as cultural medium or as a precious craft object. This craft is a valuable product that has traditional value so that efforts to maintain and develop this craft are needed to be done. One of the efforts is through the study of aesthetics. The study of aesthetics toward Leaker craft is an important thing for the writer because of many elements related to the matter of beauty in it whether from its shape, color, or function. Knowing these elements is an initial step in understanding the craft of Palembang Laker and then developing it into the creation of creative craft.
