Abstract

The children who are in their primary education and who have to leave their pupilage can still be found in some parts of the city and village. They are God-given mandate for their parents. However, there is lack of fortune that causes them leaving their pupilage. They actually want to learn just like other children in their age, but because of a reason they cannot continue their education. They are the children who work as a scavenger. They look for rubbish generated by households and markets. Teaching about CALISTUNG (reading, writing, and arithmetic)to them needs patience and a serious attention because they are not easy to be assemble in the same time and place. Therefore, the method of learning CALISTUNG that can be applied is incidental method (learning by doing) which can be applied when we meet them in their hangout. Learning CALISTUNG can be implemented in this way even if the result is not perfect as expected. The result of study can be obtained by pre-test, the process of learning, and post-test. The test cannot be done by all of the participants. The total of participants is 14 people, but there are only 9 participants who can attend the learning process and show the progress in learning CALISTUNG.

Abstract

Adult phase denotes the productive, creative and potential age because teenagers are physically strong, high-spirited and their abilities still can be extended optimally. Adult period is also a transition which is quite vulnerable and susceptible to conflicts as a result of the adjustments of their living conditions. The existence of drop-out problems and unemployed teenagers in society rises recent conflicts that would intimidate the society. One of efforts of the government to solve these problems is through a social guidance program and work skills training including motorcycle mechanics and electronics skills training that implemented by The Sub Unit of Youth Development and Social Empowerment, Ciamis Regency for 4 months. This training aims to grow the independence of drop-out teenagers so that they are skilled and have high performance to unfold their quality of life. The given training had a result which apparently seen through their independence in opening a business, working, and possessing self-confidence, responsibility and interacting with their social environment.

Abstract

Pemerintah Republik Indonesia melalui Direktorat Jendral Peningkatan Mutu Pendidik dan Tenaga Kependidikan mengembangkan potensi tenaga pendidik agar mereka mempunyai kualifikasi akademik yang merata terutama untuk daerah-daerah yang tertinggal. ICT (Information and Communication Technologi) merupakan salah satu  upaya untuk  percepatan pemerataan mutu pendidikan pada daerah tertinggal ini. Program pelatihan dan lokakarya yang dilaksanakan, bekerja sama antara PMPTK, LPMP Jawa Barat, INTEL dan Universitas Islam Nusantara dengan menggunakan modul getting started dari intel corporation. Sasaran peserta pelatihan ICT ini  yaitu kelompok KKG, MGMP SMP dan MGMP SMA yang merupakan master teacher yang dilatih. Mereka ini diharapkan nantinya akan melatih participant teacher di daerah masing-masing.

Abstract

Cibaliung village has been chosed as one of the pioneer of ‘Kuliah Usaha Mandiri’ – Ilmu Teknologi Terapan (KUM-ITT) Trisakti University. The reason is because this village has an economic potential, that is the transit track to tourism object from Labuan to Ujung Kulon and Umang island. In addition, Cibaliung village has a variety of potential natural resources that could be evolved to support the needs the progressing of coast tourism object along Umang Island and Ujung Kulon. However, the aspect of human resources potential has several weakness, it is caused by limited technology and knowledge in managing and developing the natural resources which supports for coastal tourism. The results of field survey show that the limitations of technology and knowledge in Cibaliung village covers areas including: 1). Health, 2). Law, 3). Economy, 4). Physical and environment, 5). Appropriate technology, 6). Social and cultural. Community Service activities include ‘KUM-ITT’ activity to train students of Trisakti University in order to perceive the various matters in society and determine the solution, as well as efforts to improve the quality of human resources in Cibaliung village, Pandeglang.  The ‘KUM-ITT’ implements survey methods, extension, and demonstration in the form of a pilot. The results show that the activities of human resources improvement in Cibaliung village was not arduous to apply as motivation of society and potential environment can still be managed for further explored. The improvement can be seen through economy society through domestic industry, marketing, and the area of health especially in public awareness in maintaining healthy families and environments

Abstract

Society empowerment especially women's through entrepreneurship education programs based on local potential is one of the strategies in extending women’s entrepreneurship and creating job vacancies so that they earn incomes for improving the welfare of their families and industries. The entrepreneurship education provided red bricks and salty fish making. Women who were involved in entrepreneurship education are housewives and dropped out from Pakenjeng schools area in Garut to the tune of 40 people. Community empowerment model implemented in this program is harmonizing four elements, namely academics, business actors, government and society. This program has successfully trained as many as 40 people so that they could earn better incomes to improve their families’ welfare.

Abstract

Pelaksanaan program pengabdian masyarakat yang berjudul “Memasyarakatkan Cara Tanam Jajar Legowo Tanaman Padi (Oryza Sativa) Di Kampung Lemah Duhur, Desa Giri Mukti, Kecamatan Batu Jajar, Kabupaten Bandung Barat” telah dilaksanakan sejak bulan September 2010 hingga Januari 2011. Metode pendekatan yang ditawarkan untuk mengatasi masalah dalam kegiatan ini ialah menyinergikan program pemberdayaan masyarakat yang dilakukan Perguruan Tinggi, Pemerintahan setempat, dan Kelembagaan Masyarakat yang ada.  Hasil pelaksanaan program pengabdian masyarakat ini ialah : (a) Sosialisasi cara tanam jajar legowo berhasil dilaksanakan kepada masyarakat tani, (b) Antusiasme petani mitra saat sosialisasi belum diikuti oleh keberanian untuk melaksanakannya secara langsung di lahan sawah mereka, sehingga hanya satu petani mitra yang bersedia lahan sawahnya dijadikan lahan percontohan, (c). Produktivitas tanaman padi sawah pada lahan percontohan meningkat 78,57 %, (d) Penjualan produk berupa beras dalam kemasan melalui kelompok usaha bersama direncanakan dalam program pengabdian masyarakat tahap berikutnya.

Abstract

The training is intended to the coordinator of Guidance and Counselling (BK) for administering relevant programs in actual high school circumstances. The target training is the coordinator of Guidance and Counselling. The methods which are used such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations/practice.The finding result of this training is the participants transformation, among others: (1) They have an enthusiasm and are capable of creating BK program suitable with the needs and students concern, (2) They feel quite satisfied to join the training and expect other trainings, (3) They capable to uncover the needs and student issues, (4) understand the BK program management system, and (5) Increasing motivation to working out their skills. The final results obtained is how to gain the characteristics of students, manage and create the programs that match the characteristics of BK students so that the BK program could be obtained optimally. Implementing BK management program is recommended and supposed to use these following matters: (1) Adjust to the conditions of their schools, (2) Preparation of BK personnel capabilities is needed, especially in terms of analyzing the needs and students’problem, and (3) Analyse the students needs and problems as references for intensifying other management aspects.

Abstract

The inadequacy of knowledge, skills and purchasing power particularly  farmers in the sub-district of Pasirwangi Garut has turned them into the cycle of poverty. It has been abundant of community empowerment program aimed to help the poor to pop off the conflicts and cost a lot already, but many programs are not suitable with the community needs, it is not fit with the purpose and outlying targets. This happens because the empowerment program is parsia, it does not build a system and usually given through temporarily donations, thus it caused the farmers depended on other parties but still powerless. Empowering communities via partnership of ‘A-B-G’ is one of the alternatives and considered better because it has more comprehensive systemic suppoted by every stakeholders participation in order the alleviation of poverty that might be directly perceived its benefits for the community because it fits their needs. The program is also sustainable, especially in encouraging the on-going social transformation from poor to empowered, independent, and eventually becoming a civil society.
