Abstract

Rhizoctonia solani is a fungal disease in rice plants that can cause damage to rice plants and reduce yield by 50% -80%. This disease is difficult to control because it can survive in the soil for 2 years and spread easily. Efforts to control R. solani by using synthetic pesticides can couse negative impacts such as resistance, resurgence in plant pests. Therefore, alternative controls that are environmentally friendly and effective on target are needed. One of them is controling by using chitosan (extrct of shrimp shell waste) as a producer of antibiotics and amine (-NH2) functional groups. The purpose of this study is to obtain an effective concentration that can control and inhibit the development of Rhizoctonia solani both in vitro and in the field. The study was conducted in July 2018 - March 2019 at the Central Plant Pest Organisms Jatisari. The experiment used was a Randomized Block Design method with 8 treatments of chitosan concentration and 3 replications with a total of 24 plots. The results showed that powder of chitosan was able to supprese the growth of R solani colony and reduce diseases intensity of R. solani. The best in vitro treatment to suprpress growth of R. solani that was the concentration of 1.5%. This treatment inhibit mycelium growth by 77.37 % and sclerotia by 81.13 % while in the field experiment, it can inhibit the intensity of R. solani attacks by 9.67%.

Abstract

The inadequacy of knowledge, skills and purchasing power particularly  farmers in the sub-district of Pasirwangi Garut has turned them into the cycle of poverty. It has been abundant of community empowerment program aimed to help the poor to pop off the conflicts and cost a lot already, but many programs are not suitable with the community needs, it is not fit with the purpose and outlying targets. This happens because the empowerment program is parsia, it does not build a system and usually given through temporarily donations, thus it caused the farmers depended on other parties but still powerless. Empowering communities via partnership of ‘A-B-G’ is one of the alternatives and considered better because it has more comprehensive systemic suppoted by every stakeholders participation in order the alleviation of poverty that might be directly perceived its benefits for the community because it fits their needs. The program is also sustainable, especially in encouraging the on-going social transformation from poor to empowered, independent, and eventually becoming a civil society.

Abstract

Abstract

Empirically, the number of poor families especially in rural areas continues to grow each year as well as the purchasing power of most people is declining. This reason is because the majority of implemented community development programs were partial, unbuildable system, and inappropriate in conformity with developed program for community needs. Higher education as a center of innovation should be responsive to the problems that occur in surrounding communities. Because the functions as listed in the Higher Education Act No. 12 of 2012 is to develop innovative, responsive, creative, skillful, competitive, and cooperative academicians through the three responsibilities in the form of research and community service. Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships between universities (Academics), companies (Business), Government and the community is one alternative in community empowerment. The partnership of those various agencies is expected to overcome the social and environmental issues which are now considered increasingly complex and secluded. Basic principles in conducting partnership is fairness, transparency, accountability, trust, and equality between the related partners. Multistakeholder partnerships in community development has a distinctive destination, where output is expected not only to have economic value (tangible benefit ) but also to have non-economic benefits (intangible benefits) particularly in developing knowledge, skills and attitudes of the target communities so they are determined and able to improve the quality of life.

Abstract

The problem of forest resources in Darajat Forest Zone is a multidimensional problem, involving social issues, economics and the environment, yet the continuing process of forest degradation in particular. This is due to logging which is notbalanced the effort of established rehabilitation. Intercropping farming systems, plundering and illegal loggingin forests committed by the community made deforestation worse. Another important issues is the lackness of community role and the parties support outside Perum Perhutani KPH Garut, such as the district/village government, universities and non-governmental organizations so that rehabilitating the forest area is not considered as an optimal effort, still.Forest resources management model through multi-stakeholder partnerships which is done participatively, integratedly and sustainably starting from forest resources inventory, program planning, implementation and partnership monitoring programcan be implemented optimally. Abstract

The conversion of protected forest areas into horticultural crops occurs rapidly and massively in the upstream areas. This causes environmental damage, environmental pollution and natural disaster such as landslides and forest fires. With the declining carrying capacity of the forest resources, comprehensive, participatory and sustainable forest management system with a partnership approach, economic development, environmental sustainability and stakeholder involvement is required. Multistakeholder forest management is an alternative to reducethe over forest area functions and the risk of natural disasters. The integrated programs are initiated from the inventory of natural and forest resources, mapping the socio-economic of forest villagers conditions, joint planning of forest area management by involving stakeholders, implementing environmental awareness programs, rehabilitation and conservation on overcommodities and location. Technical and social assistance, monitoring and evaluation are done jointly and periodically. All is executed to restore the function of forest area into sustainable forest and disaster alert.

Abstract

Socio-economic conditions in a community of Pasirwangi subdistrict is an agricultural area with the majority of the population generally as low-educated peasants. The education they had were only as students of elementary school and even the Dropped-Outs. They live below the poverty line. The problem dimensions of poverty dominantly occurs in the area concerning economic issues, education and health. One of the attempts to parse the poverty circle is by a means of giving Non-Formal Education (PNF) which is suitable with the condition of the target community. The management of PNF itself is implemented by PKBM . It is established and run by community leaders who are concerned about the condition of the surroundings. PKBM management and learning implemented generally yet refers to a standard quality that has been set. Learning undertaken is to prepare for the equality test only. During this time, there are no skills given to learners. This makes PNF even worse. Thus, based on these conditions, PNF model agribusiness skills-based is one of the alternatives to improve the education quality and family productivity of the peasants. The purpose of this research is to solve the problems of quality improvement on the PNF as well as to increase society’s welfare. The results can be utilized for the benefit of both society and the institutions of PNF, e.g. PKBM. The program implementation strategy is a social engineering through multi-stakeholder partnership for improving PNF quality based on partnership principles, PKBM empowerment and active participation from stakeholders in a sustainable manner.
