Abstract

Wage raise is adjusted in accordance with better quality of life. However, a lot of workers consider their current wages inadequate; in addition, the actual payment of their wages is often delayed. In consequence, work satisfaction declines. This research tests whether wages, social support, trade union activity, and worker participation influence work satisfaction. This is an explanatory research whose population is the permanent workers in the production division of a garment factory in Semarang, Indonesia. Using multiple linear regression and a Likert Scale, we examine the factors that explain work satisfaction among a sample of 100 workers in a garment factory. Our results demonstrate that wages, social support, trade union activity, and worker participation significantly influence the level of satisfactions workers have on the job.

Abstract

Sex crimes against children in Indonesia have repeatedly continued to occur. Moreover, it has experienced an increase in both quantity and quality. To prevent this, a model for the prevention of sex crimes against children in Indonesia is required. The purpose of this study was to look for a model of prevention of sex crimes against children in Indonesia through sex education (reproductive health). The study used qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The study was conducted in 6 (six) provinces in Indonesia, namely East Java, West Java, Jakarta, Ambon, Aceh, and West Kalimantan. The results obtained from this study showed that sex crimes against children in Indonesia occur due to various factors, namely: lack of knowledge about sexuality, the lack of faith, technological development, economic, internet, pornography, individualist and permissive culture, and the family issues of the perpetrators. The result of this study found a model for the prevention of sex crimes against children in Indonesia based on sex education (reproductive health). Nevertheless, this study recommends that the implementation of a model of prevention of sex crimes against children in Indonesia through sex education (reproductive health) will work if there is a synergy between stakeholders, the state (government), schools, and the community.

Abstract

The European Union has changed significantly, especially regarding authoritybetween supranational and intergovernmental institutions. Intergovernmental institutions now begin to shift the authority of supranational institutions and seem to dominate the decision-making / foreign policy within the European Union. The cause of the emergence of dominance from intergovernmental institutions due to the existence of challenges and issues that are complex and sensitive is unable to be solved at the supranational level. The presence of the European Council which consisted by the Heads of State of each member country is expected to be able to resolve the foreign affairs of the European Union without disturbing diplomatic relations with other countries. The magnitude of the influence of the European Council is also supported in the points of the article in the European Union Treaty, which implicitly position the European Council as the highest authority in the European Union. The purpose of this study is to understand the dominance of the European Council in the Decision Making Process with the Common Foreign and Security Policy in the European Union. The theory used in this research is Intergovernmentalism. This study used qualitative methods, with descriptive analytical type, and data collection techniques usef sources in the form of primary and secondary data. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that the European Council had dominated the decision-making process regarding the Common Foreign and Security Policy in the European Union. Domination is seen in several examples of important cases such as resolving the crisis in Libya in 2011, resolving the global financial crisis in 2008, and addressing the issue of climate change in 2011. The European Council has become the EU's collective head of state in handling global issues such as political, security, monetary, and the environment issues.

Abstract

This study discusses why the impact of the policy of developing oil palm plantations by corporations in Riau Province is not felt fairly and equally by the community. This study uses a qualitative approach and meta-analysis with data sources from books, scientific journals, and mass media. Data is analyzed by interactive methods and supported by theory. The results of this study indicate that neoliberalism has had an influence on the policy of developing oil palm plantations in Riau Province. This neoliberalism practice can be seen from the policy of the development of oil palm plantations in Riau which are more impartial and benefit the corporation or the owners of capital than the people around the plantation area. This can occur because of the dominance of companies and corporations in relation to the regional government. Bribery is the way they use if the lobbies made against politicians and government officials have not succeeded in achieving the goal. The state becomes subordinate in its relations with the corporation, so what happens is corporate hegemony in the development of oil palm plantations in Riau Province.
