The CMES (Center of Middle Eastern Studies) journal is a distinguished peer-reviewed academic publication dedicated to advancing rigorous scholarly research on Middle Eastern studies. It publishes high-caliber research articles, theoretical studies, and critical reviews that engage with both contemporary and historical issues relevant to the region, employing a multidisciplinary approach. The CMES journal serves as a dynamic intellectual platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to exchange innovative findings and perspectives, advancing Middle Eastern studies through a multidisciplinary framework grounded in the epistemological foundations of the humanities and social sciences. In the humanities, the journal emphasizes linguistics, literature, and Arab culture, while in the social sciences, it focuses on politics, economics, education, and the social dimensions of Arab societies. CMES encourages scholarly work that engages these disciplines through monodisciplinary inquiry, interdisciplinary synthesis, or transdisciplinary dialogue, fostering conceptual integration and methodological interaction across disciplinary boundaries. Manuscripts submitted to CMES must be pertinent to Middle Eastern studies and demonstrate clear engagement with the epistemic traditions of their respective fields. Submissions are expected to exhibit rigorous methodology, original insights, and significant contributions to regional studies, while appealing to a global academic audience.

Abstract

The changing process of word occured in three forms :  the basic forms , the lexical identity , and the word category status. The process that resulted other forms of the word with sama lexical identity is caled by flexion and inflexion , or at-tashrif in arabic term. There are supporting processes in the changing of Arabic verb such as i‘lal (vocalization), idgham (elipsis), dan ibdal (mutation). The research explains about changing of the basic verbs of form patterned faala–yaf'ulu in inflection in al-Munawwir Arabic-Indonesia dictionary. The providing of data in this research through observation by using languages of basic trilitteral verbs in al-Munawwir  Arabic-Indonesia dictionary is using taking apart as basic technique, and noted as advanced techniques. Distributional methods were used to analyze the data, by using the technique for direct items as the basic techniques, as well as the technique of disappeared and change as advanced technique. The result of the basic verb inflection patterned fa'ala-yaf'ulu in al-Munawwir ArabicIndonesia dictionary itheproces of changing the form of verbs in fa'ala-yaf'ulu patterned inflection is i‘lal "defection‟ and idgham ‘incorporation‟. As for the least amount found on the letter waw number of 2 verbs, and there are two letter with no verb fa'ala-yaf'ulu those are letter zha' and ya'.

Abstract

This research analyzes technique, method and ideology of translation in translating the book of Risa@lah ila@ Syaba@bil-Ummah. It is aimed to (1) describe the technique of translation applied in translating words, phrases, clauses,and sentences contained in the book, (2) identify the method and ideology that tends to be used by translator to translate the book. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive. The data sources are the book ofRisa@lah ila@ Syaba@bil-Ummah and its translation in Bahasa Indonesia entitled Menjadi Pemuda Peka Zaman (MPPZ). Data collected through reading books RSU and MPPZ as a whole to obtain an overview and classify existing translation techniques. Data analysis was carried out in stages; First, classifying the translation techniques of words, phrases, clauses, and sentencesfrom the text of RSU into MPPZ. Second, looking at the application of translation techniques to define translation methods used.Third, analyzing translation methods to interpret translation ideologies tend to be used by the translator. The results showed that there are 17 kinds of translation techniques used by the translator from totally 356 ones happened in 150 data. They are; addition (76), inversion (49), deletion (42), borrowing pure (33), modulation (28), compensation (22), naturalborrowing (21), transposition (18), calque (18), adaptation (15), amplification (13), literaltranslation (11), discursive creation (6), established equivalence (1), particularization (1), generalization (1), description (1). The most frequently tehcnique appliedis the addition one. This was done to ensure the easiness for readers to understand the message. Based on the dominant technique appeared, the book is likely to use the communicative method and domestication ideology, shown by 76.7% of techniques are tend to target language (Bahasa Indonesia) while 23.7% are tend to source language (Arabic).a@

Abstract

This Research discusses the variations of noun phrase translation types and the technique of translating noun phrase on novel “Mawākibul-Achrār” written by AlKailānī. Methode of the research was descriptive qualitative. The source of the data research which describe the type and the technique of translation of noun phrase on novel “Mawākibul-Achrār” written by Al-Kailānī. Based on the research it can be concluded that: First, there are three variations of noun phrase type named: naʻty, idhāfy, and combination of both. Second, the techniques used to translate of noun phrase were 13 translation techniques.

Abstract

Illumination Ordo is one of the international secret organization. The aim of this organization is to build a new world arrangement which has a significant role in several countries. And Saudi Arabia is one of those countries.This study discussed the history factors that lie behind the phenomenon of the use of Ordo Illuminati symbols by moslem in Saudi Arabia and Aspects of life that associated with the use of Ordo Illuminati symbols in Saudi Arabia.The method of this study was descriptive qualitative by using library research technique which followed 4 steps; they are: (1) making a research plan, (2) collecting the data, (3) analyzing the data, (4) and writing the report. Moreover, the theory used in this study was semiotic symbolic which is proposed by Charles Sander Pierce. Based on this study, there are two conclusions; they are: (1) the history factor that lie behind the phenomenon of the use of Ordo Illuminati symbols by moslem in Saudi Arabia. (2) Aspects of life that associated with the use of Ordo Illuminati symbols in Saudi Arabia.

Abstract

This research discuss about the forms of violence against woman in Banatu‘r-Riyadh novel by Raja Ash-Shani‘i based on Feminist Literary Criticism of Psychoanalysis theory by Helen Cixous. Therefore, the purpose of this research are to describe forms of violence against woman based on Feminist Literary Criticism of Psychoanalysis theory by Helen Cixous. The research findings are 1) The Domestic violence: the physical violence and the emotional violence, 2) the public violence with the emotional violence.

Abstract

This research aims to describe students preference and the use of Arabic language at the academia, social interactions and media. The data were taken from 24 respondents who are still studying in Suez Canal University in Egypt. The main instrument used in this research named Discourse Completion Test (DCT), in the form of three questionnaires distributed randomly to the selected students as the sample. This research used indirect method with Likert scale to measure the language attitude. The preference and the use of Arabic by students in the field of academic, social interaction, and the media showed a varying result. In field of academic and media, students tend to choose and use BAF, while in the field of social interactions students tend to choose and use BAA.The departments that have the highest percentage on the election and use of the Arabic in the academic are Math, Chemistry, Hospitality, Arabic, and History. Then, in the social interaction field, the percentage of  preference and use of BAA by male students is higher than women. These results indicate that departments and gender had a role in the preference and use of the Arabic by students.

Abstract

This research studies about verbal clause or jumlahfi’liyah. Clause is a series or combination of words comprises of subject and predicate which potentially becomes a sentence. The analysis is done based on the structure and the types of clause within the data. Data collection is done by scruntinizing (simak) and notetaking (cakap) method. Apportion method is used as the data analysis by applicating direct elemenets-dividing as the ground technique and divestation, alteration, and mark reading technique as the following techniques. Afterward, the result of the analysis is presented informally. This study results severalconclusions. First, there are 87 verbal clauses found within Uchibbuka kal-Ma´i short story.Second, structurally, there are 24 full clauses and 63 partial clauses found in the short story. Third, based on the types of clauses in Arabic, there are 26 functionated clauses within sentence; they are: 20 al jumlatu al- waqi’atukhabaran, 3 al-jumlatu al-waqi’atu chalan, and 3 al-jumlatu al-waqi’atushifatan. However, there are 61 data included as unfunctionated clause within sentence; they are: 11 al-jumlatu al-ibtidaiyyatu, 12 al-jumlatu al-waqi’atushillati al-maushuli, 1 aljumlatu al-waqi’atu jawab li’s-syarthighairujazim, 1 al-jumlatua’t-tafsiriyatu, 36 a’t-tabi’atu li jumlatin.
