Abstract

This paper aims to reconstruct the history of the Islamic caliphate with a focus on Ibn Zubair's conception of leadership selection and power legitimacy. The key issues discussed include how Ibn Zubair obtained his legitimacy and the principles he adhered to in selecting leaders, as well as the impact of his views on the political and social developments of the time. The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach, involving literature reviews and text analysis. The primary sources consist of historical literature and records in the form of classical Islamic texts, while secondary sources are used to provide broader context. The findings reveal that Ibn Zubair had a deep understanding of leadership selection, which involved consultation and specific criteria for a just leader. The study concludes that Ibn Zubair supported the election of leaders through consensus within the Muslim community, prioritizing leadership quality and legitimacy from society, rather than hereditary succession as practiced by the Umayyad Dynasty, which tended to pass power from one generation to the next. Ibn Zubair’s thoughts significantly contribute to our understanding of power legitimacy in the history of the Islamic caliphate and its relevance to the current political and social context.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the method of instilling etiquette towards teachers for students at Kuttab Al-Faruq Sukoharjo, with the goal of realizing a generation characterized by noble character (Akhlaqul Karimah). As one of the fundamental principles in Islamic education, the cultivation of proper behavior towards educators plays a critical role in shaping students' moral and ethical development. This research examines the various strategies employed by Kuttab Al-Faruq Sukoharjo in teaching respect and manners towards teachers, including formal and informal methods, religious teachings, and community involvement. By emphasizing the importance of Akhlaqul Karimah in both the personal and social life of students, the study also highlights the impact of such practices on the development of character and discipline in the younger generation. The findings suggest that fostering respectful relationships between students and teachers is essential for nurturing a generation with strong moral values and a commitment to ethical behavior, both within and outside the school environment.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Pondok Pesantren Miftahul Huda Al-Ulya Sragen in strengthening Islamic values amidst cultural diversity. The pesantren serves as a gathering place for students and teachers from various regions of Indonesia, such as Aceh, NTT, Flores, and Java, each bringing their unique traditions. This research employs a library research method by analyzing various literature, documents, and references related to strengthening Islamic values and multiculturalism in pesantren. The findings reveal that the pesantren plays a vital role in teaching Islamic values such as tolerance, justice, and respect for cultural differences. However, challenges were identified in aligning these values, including resistance from conservative groups and the lack of systematic policy guidelines. As a solution, the integration of multiculturalism-based curricula and the enhancement of diversity awareness through learning activities are recommended. The study concludes that Pondok Pesantren Miftahul Huda Al-Ulya holds significant potential as an inclusive Islamic educational institution, not only reinforcing Islamic values but also fostering tolerance amidst the cultural diversity of its students.

Abstract

This research examines the social and spiritual transformation in the story of the Prophet Yusuf from a sociological perspective. The story of the Prophet Yusuf in the Koran is known to have a deep message and universal learning value. Prophet Yusuf inspired social and spiritual change with his empathetic actions towards the people around him. This research focuses on the final stage of social change implemented by the Prophet Yusuf after becoming the leader of Egypt. The research method used is content analysis with a phenomenological approach. This research shows that Prophet Yusuf as an agent of social change had strong leadership integrity. He inspires change by maintaining personal integrity, being a role model in honesty, forgiveness, and patience, and interacting with various levels of society. The process of social change carried out by Prophet Yusuf includes centrifugal methods (changing oneself first and influencing the people around him) and cultural diffusion (changing the culture of Egyptian society). This research concludes that the story of Prophet Yusuf provides insight into how social change can occur, namely through leadership integrity and cultural change. This story shows that social change can start from individuals who have strong vision and integrity, who then influence the community around them and spread the values of change through culture.

The findings indicate that while there is alignment in the content of Aqidah teaching between the pesantren and the 2013 Curriculum, there are significant differences in teaching methods and evaluation systems. Teaching methods in the pesantren's traditional, that focusing on memorization and lectures, need to be adapted to the student-centered learning approach recommended in the 2013 Curriculum. Additionally, a more comprehensive and varied evaluation system is required to reflect various aspects of student development according to national standards. The main challenges are resistance to change, limited resources, and the need for teachers.

Abstract

The purpose of this article was to elucidate the origins of the Serat Pancadriya manuscript, the field of Serat Pancadriya philology, and the remarkable principles of Serat Pancadriya itself. Using a historical method, the authors applied the stages of gathering, analysing, interpreting, and writing (historiography). The Serat Pancadriya manuscript, which can be accessed online using the manuscript code NB 18 at the Khastara National Library of Indonesia, served as the primary source. The validity of the manuscript was then evaluated internally through philological approaches and theories used during the interpretation stage in order to identify the noble values found in the Serat Pancadriya. After every phase was completed, the following conclusions were reached about the composition of this article: Written by Raden Koesoemo Darsono on May 16, 1899 AD in Besuki, the Serat Pancadriya contains three noble values: philosophical, divine, politeness, and moral. Philological studies in text criticism have found writing errors in the form of lacunae, additions, ditographies, substitutions, and combinations.
