Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of women in the development of the culinary tourism village of Pasar Dhoplang located in Pandan Village, Slogohimo District, Wonogiri Regency. Pasar Dhoplang is one form of initiation from the women's community through Dasawisma Mawar Melati to form economic activities to improve the economy of the Dusun Kembar household. This descriptive qualitative study analyzes data systematically to draw conclusions. Data collection methods are primary data and secondary data such as interviews, observations, and documentation to obtain appropriate data. This study shows that the development of women in tourism development has a strategic role related to the flexible role of women in the domestic sphere, as well as being able to play a role in the management structure of Dhoplang Market. The application of women's roles through the triple rule outlined by Caroline Moser, namely reproductive roles, productive roles, and community roles. Through the involvement of women's active roles in the management of Pasar Dhoplang, it becomes an important factor in supporting the development of traditional Javanese culinary tourism villages. This study also examines the obstacles faced by women in the development of Pasar Dhoplang such as land ownership, inequality of participation within the village scope, and limited land in Pasar Dhoplang which hinders the empowerment of women in Pandan Village as a whole. Thus, the results of this study indicate that in developing regional tourism, there needs to be support from the role of women in its management structure in order to have an impact on improving the household economy.

Abstract

The Sajen Among tradition in the villages of Sekarpuro, Asrikaton, and Tanggung in Malang Regency is a Javanese cultural ritual rich in symbolic and spiritual meaning. This study examines its existence, its symbols, and its significance through a qualitative approach. Based on in-depth interviews with six informants across the three villages, the research reveals distinct definitions and purposes of Sajen Among in each community: in Sekarpuro, it serves as an offering to ancestral spirits; in Asrikaton, as protection for spiritual kin; and in Tanggung, as an expression of gratitude. The ritual elements such as coffee, water, rice, traditional snacks, betel leaves, tobacco, cigarettes, incense, areca nuts, whiting, and uncaria, each embody unique Javanese cultural values. Viewed through the lens of symbolic interactionism, the meaning of these offerings is constructed through social interactions, including grave pilgrimages and strict adherence to ritual protocols. Despite challenges to its preservation, such as stigmatization as “musyrik” and pressures of modernization, Sajen Among continues to endure as a vital expression of cultural and spiritual identity

Abstract

Laweyan is one of the oldest villages in Surakarta known as a center for batik production. With a long history and a network of active production houses, this area holds great potential in the development of culture-based creative economy. This research examines the role of women in the batik production process and the adaptive strategies they implement in facing various obstacles, using Moser's development theory which encompasses anti-poverty approaches, empowerment, and efficiency. Through a qualitative approach and in-depth interviews with women batik makers, this study shows that women play a strategic role in household economic aspects and cultural social sustainability. They contribute to poverty reduction through income from batik (anti-poverty), strengthening capacity through financial management and skills enhancement (empowerment), and creating efficiency in production through division of labor and time management (efficiency). The strategies implemented include organizing daily finances, balancing work and rest time allocation, and improving product quality. These findings enrich the study of gender and the creative economy by emphasizing how women's work in the traditional sector can be seen as a form of agency as well as a contribution to community based sustainable development.

Abstract

Religious moderation is a vital component in maintaining harmony within Indonesia's multicultural society. However, previous research has been limited in examining the internalization process of moderation values among key actors such as Islamic religious instructors. This study aims to analyze the internalization of religious moderation values among these instructors through the lens of Islamic sociology. Employing a qualitative approach, data were gathered through participatory observation and semi-structured interviews with 12 religious instructors in Pasuruan Regency, East Java, and analyzed using cognitive, affective, and psychomotor indicators. The findings indicate that a majority of instructors demonstrate strong acceptance of moderation values, including respect for religious diversity, commitment to social justice, and engagement in inclusive dialogue. Factors such as religious education, socio-cultural context, and the utilization of media and technology play significant roles in supporting the internalization process. The perspective of Islamic sociology highlights the instructors' role as agents of change who integrate religious principles with local dynamics, adapting preaching materials to fit local culture and emphasizing social solidarity (asabiyya). This study recommends enhancing instructors' capacities through context-based training, optimizing digital media for disseminating moderate content, and incorporating local values into religious education curricula. Academically, it contributes to the enrichment of Islamic sociology as a transformative framework for addressing extremism, while also serving as a policy reference for strengthening community-based religious moderation programs.

Abstract

Surakarta is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Indonesia, especially because of its culinary specialities such as gudeg ceker, tengkleng kambing and nasi liwet, which are mostly managed by MSMEs engaged in the culinary field. This study aims to identify the formation of social networks and analyse the embeddedness between Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and consumers in supporting business sustainability in the Mpok Sinah Klamben community, Mangkubumen Village, Surakarta. The purpose of this study is to identify the formation of social networks and analyse the embeddedness between MSME actors and consumers in business continuity. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study, data collected through observation and interviews from eight informants selected by purposive sampling. The results showed that social networks are formed through five main stages: initiation, participation, strengthening between actors, expansion, and institutionalisation. Intensive interaction between MSME actors, relational embeddedness with consumers, and the role of managers as facilitators strengthen business sustainability in the area. This research analyses social networks using Mark Granovetter's theory, especially on aspects of network norms and density, strength of weak ties, structural holes, and embeddedness. The theoretical contribution of this research lies in strengthening the understanding of the importance of social embeddedness in local community-based microeconomic networks. Practically, the findings can serve as a reference for managers and local governments in designing strategies to strengthen community-based MSMEs through social network optimisation.

Abstract

Muslim fashion, which is synonymous with simplicity and piety, is now undergoing a transformation into a medium for self-expression, aesthetics, and even lifestyle, especially among female college students. This study aims to understand how Muslim female students at Semarang State University (UNNES) adapt contemporary Muslim clothing through social media. The approach used is descriptive qualitative, with data collection methods in the form of in-depth interviews, observations, and digital documentation from informants' social media posts. The results of the study show that social media, especially Instagram and TikTok, play a central role in the process of adapting fashion styles. Muslim female students are not only passive consumers, but also play an active role in choosing, combining, and representing clothing that suits their aesthetic tastes, personal identity, and religious values. There is a process of negotiation between sharia values and modernity, which gives birth to new forms of Muslim clothing that are more flexible and adaptive to the context of the times. In this case, social media is not just a channel for information, but also a space for producing new meanings that change the way people think, appear, and interpret Islamic identity in everyday life
