Abstract

The study is conducted to determine the relationship of coping with the anxiety level of students in the national exams. This study uses descriptive correlative design involving 153 respondents taken by simple random sampling technique. The results shows that 109 respondents experience high anxiety and 87 respondents use adaptive coping in dealing with the problem. The results are as follows. 1) The learning mastery of Economics subjects in public high schools is 76.91% (“very good”), the learning mastery of Economics subjects in private high schools is 75.89% (“good”); the level of learning mastery of Economics lesson is “good”, 75.97% in public and 70.58% in private high schools; the level of Accounting lesson is “very good”, 78.78% in public and 86.51% in private high schools; the material in the Accounting lesson with the lowest rate in public and private high schools is “to describe financial statement and its calculation”; the difficult materials in Economics lesson in public high schools are “to describe macro and micro economy or problems faced by the government in the financial sector”, “to describe opportunity cost” and “to describe price index/inflation”; the difficult materials in the Economics lesson in private high schools are “to describe price index/inflation”, “to describe security/security mechanism exchange”, “to describe APBN/APBD, income and spending of government sources, “to describe the ways how to develop cooperation”. 2) The utilization of the NE results by teachers in public high schools is relatively better than that in private high schools, and therefore the utilization of the NE results by teachers need to be increased; the kind of utilization are to give a lot of excercises and to engage student in evaluating their assignments and exercises. This article elaborates pro and contra opinion about national examination.

Abstract

The development of Indonesian society’s life attitude in the postreformation era has made a lot of changes, including language as the use of foreign language at schools having international and international pioneering standard. Character construct covers the basic strategy in overcoming those phenomenons through educational system, especially the bahasa Indonesia education starting from the curriculum, methods, learning books, skills, personality, and reference. In addition, preparing dedicated profesional teachers should be necessity. There are many intelegent must be improved ticher to student minimally, smart word, smart picture, smart logic, smart body, smart music, smart people, smart nature, and self-smart. This article discribes about that.

Abstract

The progress of knowledge achieved by Moslems in the classical era was related to the interactions between Islam and various existed cultures. This interaction produced some new things because of their openness, the selectiveness, and creativity. As a result, they were able to develop their knowledge and Islamize all aspects their live in terms of ontology, epistemology, and axiology, beside they expressed in Arabic language (as an “Islamic language”). Now days, science that have been known by human being, who make them overcame strongly by many problem what it’s faced. So to face this problem, science and knowledge is very significant and event urgent to discuss, especially if we see the secularization and science islamization. Then, this paper is discoursed that; what is secularization and islamization of science (knowledge) and how will the secularization and islamization of science be researched from ontology, epistemology and axiology aspects.

Abstract

Theoretically, one of the dominant factors that influence the development of individual character are environmental factors which is a condition that allows the process of personal character development. Creating an conducive environment to the development of character Grikusumo Salaf Islamic School students is done by creating a tradition /habituation practical in everyday life in all their daily activities in relation to the quality of their religious or otherwise. Attempt the formation of character through this Salaf Islamic school in addition to the above character education can also be done simultaneously through the educational value of the following steps. First, apply a “modeling” or “exemplary” or “uswah hasanah”. Second, efforts to explain or clarify to students constantly about the value of good and evil has been done in the Girikusumo Salaf Islamic School. Third, implementing the SIS is based on character education. Character education is an important tool in the formation of student character. In practical guidance and counseling services in the schooling setting, character education is implemented through two ways, first directly through the services of guidance and counseling provided to students/ counselees, which are grouped into four components: (1) the component of basic service, (2) the component of responsive service, (3) the component of individual planning service, and (4) the components of the system support service. Loads of character education materials written in guidance and counseling services that include the areas of personal guidance, social guidance, learning guidance, career guidance, and character development. Second, indirectly, by example attitude and behavior of guidance and counseling teachers/counselors along with the cultivation of creative cultural, innovative, productive, collaborative, discipline, sense of belonging, and responsibility.

Abstract

The development of technology has influenced English teachers and students to improve their abilities in utilizing the technology in the teaching and learning process. Teachers have strong demand to utilize the information technology from the Internet as medium in the application of classroom teaching process. Because the use of technology has an important role as teaching and learning aid, Video cast is proposed to solve some problems encountered in the teaching of listening skill. The preliminary study conducted at building school, showed that the ability of the students in listening skills such as note taking, finding main ideas, finding detail information, and summarizing is still far from what was expected by the curriculum. To solve these problems, the researcher used Video cast as an instructional medium by implementing three steps in the teaching of listening, i.e. pre-listening, whilst-listening, and post-listening activities. This study utilized a collaborative action research design in which the researcher and the collaborative teacher worked together in designing the lesson plan, implementing the action, observing the action, and making reflection. The activities performed in the pre-listening step using Video cast were: giving explanation about the objective and assigned tasks, showing students the video screen, finding some important words, brainstorming on the topic learnt, setting the students into groups of five, and giving models of expression. In whilstlistening, the activities were: playing an English Video cast while doing note taking and discussing the main idea of the topic, playing again the Video cast while continuing the note taking activity and then discussing for finding detail information and summarizing, asking students’ opinion and then checking and discussing their answers. Post-listening activities were conducted by reviewing on the grammatical/structural rules and asking students’ feedback. As extensive listening, the follow-up activities were conducted by asking students to listen two new topics downloaded from the internet and then answering the worksheets about note taking, finding main ideas, finding detail information, and summarizing for each meeting.

Abstract

Multiculturalism is a tool, vehicle or the equivalent notion of ideology, function to enhance human dignity. Since multiculturalism is a tool then the sense of culture or ideology embodied in the term multiculturalism should be viewed from the perspective of function for human life. Multiculturalism has always been built on basis of philosophical outlook of a nation on the meaning of life and life, and relationships with environment as well as the creator. Then every nation in giving practical meaning of multiculturalism will be colored by its philosophical outlook. The multicultural education paradigm led to the creation of attitudes of learners who want to appreciate, respect for ethnic, religious and cultural society. Then, too, multicultural education gives awareness to students that differences in ethnicity, religion and culture as well as the other does not become a barrier for students to unite and cooperate. Thus, Pancasila as an ideology of education is needed, especially considering the posture of Indonesia in the form of an archipelago, and pluralistic world is at a cross position. This article describes multicultural education in Ponpes Nurul Jadid East Java.

Abstract

This study is designed to improve the students’ reading comprehension ability through webbing strategy. It is conducted in order to find a strategy of teaching and learning that occurs, especially, in the teaching of reading skills. The strategy is selected because it is believed to be able to stimulate or activate the students to be more involved in the reading activities and to facilitate the students to comprehend the texts, especially expository texts. Thus, this study is directed to solve practical problems in the teaching and learning process. The research problem is formulated as follows: “How is the reading comprehension ability of the fourth semester students in school. Listening is one of the skills that are badly needed for everyone including those who are studying English. It is due to the fact that they spend much of their time in school listening. Besides, research demonstrate that people spend 60% of their time listening. Yet, students have not got good result yet in the subject of Listening Comprehension. This study is conducted to answer the research problem that is “Is there any effect of applying dictogloss on students’ Listening Comprehension achievement”? Thus, it is intended to obtain reliable information whether there is a significant difference in the students’ Listening Comprehension between the Experimental Group and the Control Group. This article describes about that.

Abstract

MTS Emeyodere is one of the schools built in Sorong. Most students of this school came from local population especially the Kokoda tribe. Most of the students have weak ability and understanding. It is relevant to conduct a research based on the conditions that exist at the school. This research uses classroom action research. The research conducted through two cycles. The first cycle starts on planning, implementation, application, observation and reflection. Second cycle is quiet similar with the first cycle. Data collection of this research is observation, test and documentation. Techniques of data analysis use percentage descriptive analysis which were analyzed twice by an analysis of individual learning and classical learning mastery.The result of the research indicates that the implementation of demonstrative method can increase students’ Figih ability. In the first cycle, the data can be obtained average 65,35 and students learning mastery as much as 42,9%. The second cycle shows that the average values obtained is 71,42 with learning mastery 75%. The data shows that there is a significant difference between before using demonstrative method and after being tough using demonstrative method.

Abstract

Fourteen points of Deming’s thought about increasing the quality of the educational menagement are epected to be implemented in improving educational management quality in Indonesia. It is said that the essence of thing about the Deming’s concept is leadership. Casmpus STAIN Watampone, as a social institution, is expected to meet the needs of the community about quality education. Principals have an important role in implementing integrated quality or TQM in Campus. STAIN Watampone in a school will not run properly if it is not supported by quality-oriented leadership behavior of the principals. The focus of this research is the problem in leadership behaviors of school principals in implementing STAIN Watampone. This study has the objectives to determine the commitment of the school. The behavior of the principal’s leadership is improving the quality, and strategic leadership in improving the quality.
