Abstract

While there have been evidences of successful economic development, certain Agriculture Industry show declining contributions to economy over recent years. There is a need for control of and policy on conversion of land status from agriculture to non-agriculture as a result of expanding economy. This research aims to analyse: (1) the impact of real GRDP, the number of households, the number of non-classified hotels and other types of accommodation businesses, and farmers’ terms of trade (FToT) on wetland conversion; (2) annual rate of wetland conversion; and (3) sustainability of food security after implementation of wetland conversion control. The data being analysed is pooled-data series 2014-2018 and cross sectional which is taken (provinces in Java-Bali). The result shows that the factors influencing wetland conversion negatively and significantly is real GRDP,  the number of households and the number of non-classified hotels and other types of accommodation businesses are positively and significantly, whilst those affecting insignificantly is FToT. There is an upwards trend in wetland expansion, which indicates that agricultural land–instead of shrinking in area–is expanding at the rate of 40,574 hectares/year. It’s estimated that there will be 3,712,382 hectares of wetland by 2025. The tendency is followed by the growing number of rice surplus that reaches 909,922 tons/year. It’s projected that surplus in rice production by 2025 will be 17,404,632 tons. Consequently, management of renewable resources, prevention of wetland conversion, and prudent decision in rice import are as important as economic development. Keywords: wetland conversion, economic development, pooled-data

Abstract

Banjarnegara Regency is one of the districts in the poverty red zone in the Central Java Province. In 2019, Banjarnegara Regency was in the 7th (seventh) position of the 35 (thirty-five) poorest regencies/cities with a poverty percentage of 14.76%.  This study purpose to analyze the effect of the average length of schooling, life expectancy and economic growth in the agriculture, fisheries and forestry sectors on poverty in Banjarnegara Regency in 2005-2019. The variables used are the average length of schooling, life expectancy and economic growth in the agricultural, forestry and fisheries sectors. The data used in this study is secondary data obtained from the Statistics Central Agency of Banjarnegara Regency. The results of this study are the average length of schooling and life expectancy have a negative and significant effect on poverty, while the economic growth in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors does not have a significant effect on poverty. The implication of this research is that the local government of Banjarnegara Regency needs more intensive efforts from the local government to increase development in the education and health sectors with the expectation of encouraging wider learning opportunities, upraising education levels, and improving the quality of health of the population. Keywords: Poverty, Average Length of Schooling, Life Expectancy, Economic Growth in The Agricultural, Forestry and Fisheries Sectors

Abstract

Many research in economics only focus on the independence of a region while neglecting the effects of space and the interaction that occurs between mutually adjacent areas. The purpose of this study is to measure the multidimensional poverty concept in 15 districts/cities in the province of Lampung in 2015-2019. Spatial analysis such as moran i statistics, LISA clustered map, and lisa signification are used to analyze spatial patterns and spatial autocorrelation. Spatial modeling with spatial autoregressive model, geoda and geographical information systems are used as explanatory spatial data and spatial modeling. The results show that the percentage of poor people between districts/cities in Lampung Province have positive Moran's I values, there is a clustered pattern in 2015-2019, Moran scatter plot depicts 4 quadrants, LISA Cluster map indicates high-high and low-low areas, and LISA map has 4 significant areas. Spatial regression results show that per capita expenditure for nonfood has a negative effect, per capita expenditure for food has a positive effect, population growth rate has a positive effect, household clean water has a positive effect, life expectancy has a negative effect, mean years of schooling has a negative effect, and simultaneously the independent variables have a significant influence on the percentage of poor people. Poverty in Lampung Province is spatially related to each other between regions, the findings suggest that the variables used affect spatially. The implication of this result is one of the basis for inter-regional policies in the interests of multi-dimensional poverty alleviation between regions. Keywords: Poverty, Spatial analysis, Spatial Autoregressive Model (SAR)

Abstract

This study is based on the transformation of the distribution of cash social assistance into non-cash in the City of Tegal. The non-cash distribution is by using a banking account that has a combo card facility, which is a multi-function card that can be used as an ATM card as well as disbursement of social assistance. There is a slice of the objectives of the non-cash transaction referred to as an alternative to accelerate the increase in financial inclusion of the Indonesian population as stated in the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion with the financial inclusion index indicator. This study aims to determine the impact of the transformation of the distribution of social assistance on financial inclusion in Tegal City and the welfare of beneficiary families (KPM). Primary data were collected from questionnaires that have been filled in by KPM and secondary data were obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics and the Representative Office of Bank Indonesia Tegal. The analytical tool used is a quantitative approach to KPM's response to the distribution of non-cash social assistance. As supporting data, in the problem of financial inclusion, analysis tools are used by qualitatively comparing financial inclusion that is generated as a result of the implementation of the distribution of non-cash social assistance to existing financial inclusion. The analysis shows that the acceptance and perception of KPM supports the transformation of non-cash social assistance distribution, this is supported by KPM's interest in using combo cards as a means of saving. On the other hand, the transformation of the distribution of social assistance to non-cash contributes to financial inclusion in the city of Tegal, namely the Agent Laku Pandai (LKD) contributing 75.20% to banking financial services in Tegal City. From the 4 Welfare Indicator Classifications, it is found that the welfare of KPM has experienced changes in welfare after receiving non-cash social assistance and has improved the welfare of the beneficiary community (KPM).Keywords : Non-Cash Social Assistance, PKH, BPNT

Abstract

The main aim of this study is to investigate the implication of overpass and double line railway construction conducted by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) on changes in income generating asset and the level of welfare in the community. We surveyed 28 households in Gambarsari Village, District Kebasen as affected communities who received monetary compensation from PT KAI. Comparisons between pre and post construction implication on the income generating asset of this group were made using Wilcoxon test. To compare whether the affected community become wealthier after receiving compensation, a ratio of per capita income to regional decent standard of living or Kualitas Hidup Layak (KHL) was used. The results of this study find that monetary compensation given by PT KAI has no significant impact on income generating asset. This result may be explained by the fact that instead of spending the received compensation on investment purposes such as buying a new land or kiosk, they use it for consumption purposes such as house makeover and renovation. Another important finding was that this study did not show any significant increase in household welfare level after the monetary compensation was given. A possible explanation to this result is the fact that most of affected household are elderly people who prefer to spend the compensated money for consumption rather than new income generating asset. Keywords: Impact evaluation, Overpass and Double Track Railway Construction, Land Acquisition.

Abstract

The research objective was to analyze the social and economic factors that affect unemployment in the development area of Central Java, namely in Brebes Regency, Tegal City, Tegal Regency, and Pemalang Regency (BREGASMALANG) in 2010-2020. The determinants of unemployment used in this study include the human development index, district/city minimum wage, and gross regional domestic product. The data used in this study are secondary data obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). The research method used in Panel Data Regression Analysis with Fixed Effect Model (FEM). The result of this study indicates that the human development index & district/city minimum wage it means that it has no significant effect on the open unemployment rate in Bregasmalang. Meanwhile, the gross regional domestic product has a negative and significant effect on the open unemployment rate in Bregasmalang. With the influence of regional gross domestic product on the open unemployment rate, therefore the government is expected to be able to maximize the sub-sectors contained in the GRDP so that the sub-sector is able to increase employment so that it can suppress the high unemployment rate in the Regency/City concerned, namely the Brebes Regency, Tegal City, Tegal Regency, and Pemalang Regency. Keywords: Open Unemployment Rate, HDI, District/City Minimum Wages, and GRDP
