Abstract

The wireless sensor networks (WSN) are increasingly implemented in air quality monitoring with real-time and high spatial-temporal resolution. In this context, current work aimed at designing and testing a cost- and energy-efficient WSN-based air quality monitoring system. The system was assembled principally by wireless sensors, solar cells, microcontroller and network communication. In addition, a new circuit for buck-boost converter was implemented for voltage and current regulations. On-field, testing the proposed air quality monitoring system outdoor and indoor showed efficient real-time readings for the concentrations of carbon dioxide (CO2) and total volatile organic compounds (TVOC). Furthermore, it provided data about ambient temperature, relative humidity and air pressure with good accuracy. In conclusion, our results suggest a reliable and scalable WSN-based system for monitoring ambient air quality.

Abstract

Breast cancer continues to be a significant public health problem in the world. Early detection is the key for improving breast cancer prognosis. Mammography has been one of the most reliable methods for early detection of breast carcinomas. However, it is difficult for radiologists to provide both accurate and uniform evaluation for the enormous mammograms generated in widespread screening. Breast cancer computer aided diagnosis (CAD) systems can provide such help and they are important and necessary for breast cancer control. Micro calcifications and masses are the two most important indicators of malignancy, and their automated detection is very valuable for early breast cancer diagnosis. Since masses are often indistinguishable from the surrounding parenchymal, automated mass detection and classification is even more challenging. This research presents algorithms for building a classification system or CAD, especially to obtain the different characteristics of mass and micro calcification using association technique based on classification. Starting with an individual-specific deformable of 3D breast model, this modelling framework will be useful for tracking visible tumors between mammogram images, as well as for registering breast images taken from different imaging modalities. From the results, the classifier developed able to perform well by successfully classifying the cancer and non-cancer (normal) images with the accuracy of 97%. Apart from that, by applying color map to the final results of segmentation provides a more interesting display of information and gives more direction to the purpose of image processing, which distinguishes between cancerous and non-cancerous tissues.

Abstract

The design of the control system aims to design a device that can control temperature and pH of the soil for onion plant with notifications via SMS based on Arduino-Uno microcontroller. The method in this study is to test the pH and temperature detected by the pH sensor E201-C and the LM35 sensor and will be forwarded to the microcontroller. The microcontroller will process a comparison of the pH and input temperature values with detected values, if the input pH is small from the detected pH, the microcontroller will activate the relay so that the water pump turns on, if the input pH is greater than the detected pH then the microcontroller activates the relay so the water pump lime is lit, if the input temperature is small than the temperature detected, the microcontroller will activate the relay so that the pure water pump is lit. The results in this study are a device that has been able to control soil pH and temperature for onion plant with a pH range of 5.6 to 7 and temperatures of 250C to 320C. The growth of onions that have been controlled by pH and the soil temperature produce onion plants with a percentage of 78.6 grams of mass and 64 cm diameter percentage while the growth of onion plants which are controlled by the obtained percentage of mass 50.6 grams with a percentage of 38 cm in diameter. Abstract

Lockers are commonly used to store luggages temporarly. For security purposes, lockers are equipped with conventional lock keys to keep it safe. In order to enhance the security aspects, there are several options by optimalizing current emerging technology that is two-factors authentication. This method is commencing by inputting some PIN (Personal Identification Numbers) code then it would trigger confirmation access by smartphone to unlock the lockers. By having this security schemes, any unauthorized users could not allowed any attempt to unseal the locker. More over, the owner could immediately recognize if there was any suspicious access. The result of this research shows that the system could unlock the locker by inputting the correct PIN and verified access by achieving the successful percentage of 100%. The averages response time is around 6.647 seconds, while any attempt to unlock the locker by inputting the incorrect access gain 100% percentages

Abstract

Landslide is one of the natural disasters that happens quite often in many parts of Indonesia. Landslide brings negative aspects to people because it causes material loss and loss of life. Landslides generally occur in the rainy season with high rainfall. In this research, a system is made to predict the chance of landslide to happen by measuring the level of rainfall, soil moisture, and soil displacement, and send the sensor data and position of a landslide to the database. According to this research, the system can predict the chance for the landslide to happen and give a warning with a 100% success rate.

Abstract

Humans are living things that like all things that are clean and beautiful to look at, including environment around them. Nowadays, there are many people that conscious and care about environmental hygiene, but there are many of them that do the otherwise. Managing trash can in their residential area is one form of human awareness of environmental sanitation. Human's responsibility in keeping their health and the environment is not only to dispose of trash in its place but also to manage a fully loaded trash can. Because of the waste management problem, the writer made a smart garbage transport robot, which is a fully loaded trash can or a trash can that has methane in it can move automatically from a residential area to its landfill. Components that used to detect the condition of a trash can are Ultrasonic sensor that used to identifies a fully loaded trash can; MQ-4, a methane gas sensor to detect methane gas's level in the trash can; and photodiode sensor for the automatic trash can robot's line tracking to the landfill. The success rate of garbage transport robot is 4 out of 4 trials.

Abstract

Abstract

Emotions influence individual behavior and there is no emotional experience that has a stronger influence than stress. Prolonged stress has a direct negative influence on physical and emotional conditions. For that reason, it is important to know a person's mental stress state, so that further action can be taken later, so as not to have a serious impact on physical and mental health. In this study, the photoplethysmograph (PPG) approach is used to recognize mental stress conditions based on Heart Rate Variability (HRV) frequency domain analysis. In this study stress was identified by SVM classifier using LF, HF and LF / HF Ratio from HRV frequency domain analysis. The LF results were increased in mild stress conditions, HF increased in conditions of mild stress and medium stress and the LF / HF Ratio slowly increased from mild stress to severe stress. The training data obtained 80 data with 95% mild stress accuracy from 19 data, medium stress accuracy 96% from 49 data and 99% severe stress accuracy with 12 data.
