Abstract

Emotions influence individual behavior and there is no emotional experience that has a stronger influence than stress. Prolonged stress has a direct negative influence on physical and emotional conditions. For that reason, it is important to know a person's mental stress state, so that further action can be taken later, so as not to have a serious impact on physical and mental health. In this study, the photoplethysmograph (PPG) approach is used to recognize mental stress conditions based on Heart Rate Variability (HRV) frequency domain analysis. In this study stress was identified by SVM classifier using LF, HF and LF / HF Ratio from HRV frequency domain analysis. The LF results were increased in mild stress conditions, HF increased in conditions of mild stress and medium stress and the LF / HF Ratio slowly increased from mild stress to severe stress. The training data obtained 80 data with 95% mild stress accuracy from 19 data, medium stress accuracy 96% from 49 data and 99% severe stress accuracy with 12 data.

Abstract

Monitoring the level of water in dams is necessary to ensure optimal operation and safety. Water level monitoring is normally done manually by a full-time operator. This results mostly in a waste of water due to the inability of the operator to accurately determine the quantity of water to release from the dam gate. The aim of this paper is to present the design of a system to automatically open and close dam gates based on the level of water in the dam. The system is based on a low-cost microcontroller and an ultrasonic sensor to read water level in the dam. SMS messages are sent to nearby residents to warn them of the opening of the dam gate. An alarm is also sounds before the eventual opening of the dam gate.

Abstract

Analyzing the academic performance of students is of utmost importance for academic institutions and educationists, so as to know the ways of improving individual student’s performance. The project analyzed the past results of students including their individual attributes including age, demographic distribution, family background and attitude to study and tests this data using machine learning tools. Three models which are; Linear regression for supervised learning, linear regression with deep learning and neural network were tested using the test and train data with the Linear regression for supervised learning having the best mean average error (MAE).

Abstract

This series of research activities are in the form of a routing simulation using the LEACH protocol as a cluster-based mechanism method that can improve Network Lifetime in the Wireless Sensor Network protocol, using the Network Simulator 2 application device that describes data transmission, remaining nodes, and energy used. Determination of the performance and power consumption of the wireless sensor network by testing scenario one to scenario five due to the influence of the cluster to be applied, such as scenario 1 using 1 cluster (C1) consumes an average of the energy of 0.155 joules and the data sent or obtained is 72,848 bytes. Barriers or disruptions to the clusterhead affect the performance of LEACH, so there is a need for criteria or conditions to determine which nodes should be used as clusterhead.

Abstract

This research aims to develop trash volume monitoring based on Arduino nano and orange pi. This prototype detected trash volume in the trash can, and send the information through the monitoring server via a cellular network in real-time. So that the trash management, in this case, Dinas Kebersihan, could be efficient. In which the trash can located in various places could be easily monitored through the website. The results show, optimum range for the sensor that installed in the trash can is maximal 25 cm, in which for every trash that detected by sensor must be in range of 0 cm between 4.5 cm, where the position of the sensor does not face to face so that the sensor detects more accurately in determining the volume of free space in the trash.

Abstract

The use of the internet currently has very high mobility, both used for streaming, browsing, downloading and uploading data. Along with the changing times and the demands for information services that are fast, precise, and accurate, making the network a major need, especially in the world of education. The use of internet facilities requires management to manage each data. For this reason, there is a need for Quality of Service on the network to optimize the distribution of networks evenly and fairly for each client and network user. The results of the study show that network quality by implementing Quality of Service is more optimal and network distribution is more even and stable

Abstract

The emerging trend in the world of semiconductor integration has brought about so many opportunities in the area of microcontrollers. This paper deals with the design and implementation of a microcontroller-based timer for home appliances using an Arduino microcontroller. This system is developed for the users to predetermine the time of operation of any home appliances using the electric cooker for implementation. The system is majorly comprised of the power supply unit, microcontroller unit, timer circuits and LCD display. The user can set any of the time given in the timer switch using keypad. The settings are stored in the microcontroller and the details are displayed in the LCD display. The appliance is controlled to run for the particular period set by the timer switch. The timer switch automatically makes the appliance off once the period is over. This system has been designed to be efficient, reliable and reduce energy wastage.

Abstract

This study aims to create a control system that can turn on / turn off the water pump by simply pressing a button on the smartphone and monitoring how much electricity was used which will later be converted into cost value in rupiahs. This system is able to further regulate the use of water pumps, such as restrictions on daily use, restrictions on use at certain hours, and pumps can be set to automatically shut down after a few moments of use. This system consists of three main components, namely an embedded system, a website-based mobile application, and a web server. The embedded system consists of Wemos D1, ACS712 current sensor, and relay. From the tests conducted the system can turn on the water pump with an average response time of 2 seconds and the results of monitoring conducted have an average error value of 13.63%.

Abstract

Breast cancer is one of the most common diseases among women in several countries. One of the most common methods to diagnose breast cancer is mammography. In this study, we propose a classification study to differentiate benign and malignant breast tumors based on mammogram image. The proposed system includes five major steps, i.e. preprocessing, histogram equalization, convolution, feature extraction, and classification. Image is cropped using region of interest (ROI) at preprocessing stage. In this study, we perform image contrast quality enhancement of the mammogram to view the breast cancer better. Image contrast enhancement uses histogram equalization and Gaussian filter. Gray-Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) is used to extract the mammogram features. There are five features used i.e. entropy, correlation, contrast, homogeneity, and variance. The last step is to classify using naïve Bayes classifier (NBC) and k-nearest neighbor (KNN). Based on the hypothesis, the accuracy of NBC method is 90% and the accuracy of KKN method is 87.5%. So, the mammogram image contrast enhancement is well performed.
