Abstract

This  study  aims  to determine the quantitation of lactic acid bacteria and lactic acid bacteria as well as identify the concentration of lactic acid produced  from fermented catfish (Channa striata), tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), and fish Sepat  (Trichogaster trichopterus) on maked bekasam (fish fermented). This  research  was conducted at the Center for Health Laboratory Palembang on July till August 2009 . Research  used  titrimetric  method  for determining  the  levels  of  lactic acid. Total  Plate  Count  method  to  determine  the  amount  of  lactic  acid forming bacteria, while  the  identification  of  lactic  acid  bacteria is done through biochemical  tests  and  test  the differential characteristics  of  lactic  acid   forming bacteria . The highest  content of lactic acid bacteria is 124.904 x 103 colonies/ml and the highest levels of lactic acid is 6.363% derived from Sepat fermented fish. Sepat fermented fish and tilapia on making bekasam found lactic acid bacteria of the genus Lactobacillus sp, Pediococcus sp  and Streptococcus sp. While the results of fermentation bekasam found only in fish cork lactic acid bacteria of the genus Lactobacillus and Streptococcus sp. Key words: fermentation, bekasam, identification, lactic acid bacteria,

Abstract

This research was aimed at exploring and identifying the entomopathogen fungi Aphis gossypii (Glover) (Hemoptera: Aphidiidae) in the agroecosystem of the lowland and highland of South Sumatra. The surveys of the entomopathogen A. gossypii were conducted in 11 locations of the vegetable centers of South Sumatra.  The Identification of entomopathogen was conducted in the Laboratory of the Entomology, Department of Pests and Plant Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University.  This research was conducted during the period of July 2009 and July 2010. The results of the study also revealed that two species of entomopathogenic fungi: M. anisopliae and B. bassiana were found. In the medium culture, B. bassiana colony was white and formed a bundle like cotton.  When it reached the age of over 10 days old, it looked like yellowish white chalk.  The spores of  B. bassiana were oval, with an average length of 3 μm, white in color and grow  in zigzag form from conidiospores.  In the medium culture , M. anisopliae colony was greenish yellow in color and forms spots.  The spores of  M. anisopliae were green in color, cylindrical in form with an average length of 10 μm and form a chain. Key words: Aphis gossypii (Glover), Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) and Metarrhizium anisopliae (Metsch)

Abstract

This study aims to assess the ability of agricultural biomass waste as material adsorbent  in the form of : rice husk, sawdust and peanut skins in total Cr ions adsorb. Ion concentration of 300 ppm Cr is used as much as 100 ml, with a contact time of 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 minutes. The results showed the presence of intereaksi between bioadsorben with real-time contact with the Cr ions absorb 11.235 F count> F table 2.27 5%. Rice husk has the largest absorption than powders and porters gergai peanuts, respectively absorbance at 150 minutes contact time is 4.00 mg / g, 6.534 mg / g and 5.452 mg / g. Key words : ion Cr,  waste agricultur biomass, rice husk, sawdust, peanut shell

Abstract

This study aims to determine the structure and composition of insects in the swamp water of Jungkal Ogan Ilir on South Sumatera province, in  June to September 2012. Identification of aquatic insects in the Laboratory of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences University of PGRI Palembang. The results showed the relative density , relative frequency , relative dominance at station 1 ( Kumpai copper ) is Pelocoris femoratus and station 2 ( Lotus ) is Parapoyonx sp. Insects are the most dominant with the highest importance value index station 1 is  Pelocoris femoratus, station 2 Parapoyonx sp . While the insect species diversity index of water at station 1 of 2.02,  at station 2 of 1.25 and index between stations by 46 %. Key words : Insects water , lebak swamp deling, structure , composition

Abstract

Investigation about Acut  Toxicity of   Bandotan Leaf ( Ageratum conyzoides)  to Mortality Maize Weevil (Sitophilus zeamays) was conducted on Juni – September 2013 in laboratory Biology Faculty of Mathematic  University of PGRI Palembang. Acut tocxicity  test using the maize weveil  bioassay method with a time of 96 hours aplication. The shows that results that leaf of Bandotan were toxic to maize weevil whith  24 hours, 48 hours and  96 hours LC 50 were   29.279 %, 21.610 %  and   16.477  %. Key words ;   Toxicity. Abstract

Rice louse (Sitophilus oryzae L.) is kind of insect wich damage agricultural crop. The rice damage can prevent with nature pesticide of marble leaf extract (Cosmos caudatus Kunth.). This research used experiment method with Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 5 replications. The result of this research proof that: 1) Giving marble leaf extract in such concentrations (20 gram marble leaf extract/100gram rice, 40 gram marble leaf extract/100 gram rice, 60 gram marble leaf extract/100 gram rice, and 80 gram marble leaf extract/100 gram rice) show real influence than rice louse mortality (Sitophilus oryzae L.) which show significant result is 0,000 < 0,005. 2) The result of this research is P4 extract doses (80 gram marble leaf extract/100 gram rice) show increasing higher to the rice louse mortality, So giving marble leave extract show real influence to rice louse mortality. Key words: marble leaf extract concentrations, mortality level, rice louse

Abstract

Macrobenthos are animals which live in bottom substrate of waters systems ie sand, mud, rock or rubble. This research aims to determine the macrobenthos diversity in three types of swamp in Pampangan ie floodplain swamp, rain-fed swamp and mix swamp. The research was conducted from October 2011 until March 2012 by collecting primary data and laboratorium analysis. The location of the research is lebak swamp, Pampangan subdistrict, Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province while identification of macrobenthos and sediment analysis at Research Institute for Inland Fisheries. The results show that there are 3 classes of macrobenthos, ie 9 species of Insecta, 1 species of Molusca and 11 species of Oligochaeta. Highest diversity index is in floodplain swamp while highest evenness index and species richness index are in the mix swamp. Similarity index of macrobenthos on the three types of swamp are low, it means that the animals come from different community. The differences of fertility level and texture of sediment will affect the diversity of macrobenthos. Key words: Diversity, macrobenthos, swamp, South Sumatra

Abstract

This paper reports the results of the study of vegetation types on the peat swamp after fireing in the Kedaton Village. Research was conducted between April  till Decembre 2013. This research was carried out  using survey method. Sample was taken by purpossive sampling in transect. Data and information gathered included community structure are density, frequency and important value index, selected soil and water quality. Results of the study get 4 types of vegetation growth, are under plants, seedling, sampling and tree. Cyperus rotundus was dominant species on under plant type, Shorea sp was dominant species on seedling type and Dyera lowii was dominant species on sapling and trees type.Key words : peat swamp, vegetation type

Abstract

             Sepengkah (Parambasis wolffi) is a member of order Perciformes, family Chandidae. This research was aimed to determine the relationship of length and weight and condition factor of sepengkah (Parambasis wolffi). The study was conducted from March to October 2011 in Sungai Rokan Kepulauan Riau. The result showed that a length-weight relationship of Sepengkah was positive allometric (b = 3,264) where the weight  is faster grow than the length. The condition factor of Sepengkah was around 3,2-4,0, it was showed that the body of Sepengkah was close to flat.
