Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease, which are the characteristics characterized by high levels of sugar in the body. Based on the studies that have been made, the decline in density is one complication that occurs in this disease. Decrease in bone density is thought to cause the resorption on alveolar bone and thinning of the cortical bone. Even resorption the alveolar bone is heavily influenced by local factors such as the condition of periodontal tissue inflammation (periodontitis) does not mean that systemic factors do not influence. The cortical bone thinning influence of systemic factors is quite large. Effect of systemic and local causes bone damage, so it needs to be extent, to show the relationship between the decrease in alveolar bone and the cortical bone thinning. The aims of this study are analyze the relationship between the decrease in alveolar bone and mandible cortical bone inpatient's periodontitis with type-2 diabetes mellitus by the use of cone beam computed tomography (CBCT-3D). This type of this research is the analytical description of the sample derived from the radiographs CBCT-3D of patient's periodontitis with type-2 diabetes mellitus, who visited the RSGM FKG Unpad of 2 January 2010 - May 30, 2011, with specified criteria of sample and obtained 21 data. Region of the research performed on patients with the mandible alveolar and cortical bone which is divided into 10 regional sections. Analyzes were conducted in two stages. The first analysis with multiple regression analysis in which all three variables were measured simultaneously and the second with a partial regression analysis in which all three variables are calculated separately. Results of the study found a decrease in alveolar bone substantial in region anterior by sagital viuw and coronal. The maximum value of the alveolar resorption is in the left anterior region with a large range from 4.51 to 4.99 mm from sagital and 5.2 to 5.7 mm from the coronal. The thinning of the mandible cortical bone thinning ranged from 0.59 to 0.62 mm. Between the decrease in alveolar bone of the thinning in cortical bone significant in the posterior it's shown in the region M2, 3 and M1, while for other regions like's regions P, C and I did not show significance.

Abstract

Premature rupture of fetal membrane (PROM) is a complication in pregnancy that is an important problem in obstetrics. Manyteory have been explaining that cause of PROM, but the etiology is still unknown. Premature rupture of fetal membrane might be caused by apoptosis. The mechanism of PROM due to the apoptosis might cause the extracellular matrix degradation. The apoptosis is influenced by the signal from extracellular and intracellular protein. The intracellular factor is p53. This factors will cause a fetal membrane damage which induce increasing of caspase-3, so that the increasing of apoptosis in fetal membrane will cause the PROM. The present study is an observational analysis designed as a case-control study. The study was carried out in Dr. Hasan Sadikin Hospital and Central Laboratorium of Medical School of Padjadjaran University. The case group consist of 81 patients of PROM selected based on appropriate acceptance and rejection criteria taken by consecutive sampling. The control group consist of 81 patients with normal pregnancies at the age of ?37-<42 weeks gestation are taken by matching technique. Basic data included protein level of p53 by ELISA. Analysis of test results was conducted using bivariable analysis (Shapiro Wilk test, independent t test, Chi-square test, ANOVA test, Pearson analysis correlation and regression test) and multivariable (multiple logistic regression test). It was found that protein level of p53 was higher (>9,734 U/ml) than the normal pregnancy with p<0,0. The conclusion, there is a relationship protein level of p53 in the incidence of PROM. Protein levels of p53 was > 0,97 U/ml would increased in the incidence of PROM more than thirty times

Abstract

The main problem on freshwater mussel culture is the high mortality during implantation process. Freshwater mussel that will be implanted for cultivation need to be conditioned in a state that facilitates the opening of its shell. Because lack of information on the use of anesthesia in the cultivation of freshwater mussel, these principles can be applied is the principle which has been successfully applied in the cultivation of sea mussel. This study aims to determine the best responses to materials anesthetic and dose in precondition of Anodonta woodiana which held in Freshwater Aquaculture Center (BBAT) Tatelu in District Dimembe, Minahasa Regency. The study was designed by using completely randomized design factorial pattern with two factors: materials anesthetic and dose. Material anesthetic factor has 4 degree such as menthol oil, clove oil, nutmeg oiland lemongrass oil. Dose has 3 degree such as 1,5 ml, 2,5 ml and 3,5 ml. Each treatment was repeated 3 times. The results showed that nutmeg oildose of2,5 ml/L more effective for precondition (respons, relaxation time, recovery and mortality rate) than dose of 1,5 ml/l and 3,5 ml/L and than another materials anasthethic (menthol oil, clove oil, and lemongrass oil).

Abstract

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most common cancer in the world. Various genetic, experimental and epidemiologic studieshave shown that CRC is derived from complex interaction between hereditary sensitivity and environment. Homeostaticenvironment deregulation at the mucous layer of the colon is the earliest sign of carcinogenesis. Hath1, a basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor, is an important positive regulator in terminal cell differentiation. The potential role of Hath1 in CRC is not clear yet. To reveal the answer, it is deemed necessary to observe the role of Hath1 in the differentiation of CRC. A case control study on two groups of subject was performed. The first group consisted of CRC patients who underwent colonoscopy of surgery. The second group consisted of patients who underwent colonoscopy due to other than CRC conditions. Subjects's tissue underwent histopathology examination, and RTPCR test to measure the strength of Hath1 expression. There was a significant difference of Hath1 expression between the two groups. Hath1 was expressed with various strength on CRC group, however it was weakly expressed at control subjects. Hath1 was expressed stronger on late stage of the disease, and on moderate to poor differentiation. There was no significant difference between Hath1 expression on mucinous or non-mucinous types. Inconclusion, the study has shown the role of transcription factor Hath1 in the carcinogenesis of CRC. Hath1 was stronglyexpressed on late stage and poorly differentiated subjects. The examination of transcription factor Hath1 is a feasible biomolecular marker to describe the level of malignancy in the CRC.

Abstract

kroto flour feed formulation based on local raw materials has been implemented in Research Center and Breeding Freshwater Aquacultur Technology Sukamandi, Subang, West Java from June to August 2011. This research used completely randomized design with four treatments: treatment with no addition of kroto flour (control), treatment with addition of kroto flour 5%, 10% and 15%. Each treatments was repeated four times. The results showed that the treatment which adding kroto flour showed reproductive performance (response of eggs fecundity per kilogram, fertilization rate, hatching rate, and larval survival rate) higher than control. No significant reproductive performance response for the addition of kroto flour rate of 5%, 10%, 15%.
