Abstract

Pedestrian overpasses (JPO) are facilities provided for pedestrians to minimize the risk of accidents when crossing the street, especially in areas with high traffic volumes. In the Singosari Market area, Malang Regency, there is fairly heavy vehicle and pedestrian traffic, but the usage of existing pedestrian overpasses (JPO) remains relatively low. This study aims to identify the physical condition of the JPO, evaluate the level of effectiveness of JPO users, and undertake efforts to improve the effectiveness of JPO usage in Singosari Market. The research method used is descriptive quantitative, with primary data collection through field observations, measurements of the JPO’s geometric dimensions, a pedestrian volume survey, and the distribution of questionnaires to JPO users. Additionally, secondary data was obtained from relevant agencies. The effectiveness of the JPO was measured by comparing the number of pedestrians using the JPO to the total number of pedestrians crossing the road. The results of the study indicate that the physical condition of the JPO at Singosari Market does not yet fully meet the standards set by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing in 2018. Furthermore, the level of effectiveness in JPO usage falls into the “moderately effective” category. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the quality of facilities, add supporting infrastructure, and conduct public awareness campaigns to ensure the optimal safety and effectiveness of pedestrian overpasses.

Abstract

The construction of drinking water pipeline networks is a critical component of a sustainable Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM). The success of pipeline construction is heavily influenced by the appropriate selection of construction methods tailored to on-site conditions. The Umbulan Sub-Distribution Center (Sub DC) Bunder–Manyar SPAM project in Gresik Regency is a strategic project utilizing High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) pipes with large nominal diameters and a significant route length. Diverse on-site conditions, such as open areas, road crossings, and river crossings, require the application of appropriate construction methods to ensure the work proceeds effectively and efficiently. This study aims to analyze the construction methods for HDPE DN pipelines applied in this project, analyze the costs and duration of the work, and evaluate project progress based on actual on-site conditions. The research method used is a descriptive approach combining qualitative and quantitative methods. Data was obtained through direct field observations as well as a review of the Cost Estimate (RAB), work schedule, and project progress reports. The research results show that the open-cut method is predominantly used in areas with open terrain and easy access, while the Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) method is applied in areas crossing roads and rivers. Based on the analysis of costs and implementation time, the application of methods appropriate to site conditions can improve work efficiency and support the achievement of project progress in accordance with the plan. Thus, the selection of the appropriate implementation method plays a crucial role in the success of drinking water pipeline network projects.

Abstract

The reliability of irrigation infrastructure plays a crucial role in supporting agricultural productivity and the sustainability of water distribution. Over time, the physical components of irrigation networks are prone to degradation due to aging, hydraulic loads, sedimentation, and limited maintenance. This study aims to assess the existing physical condition and analyze the physical performance of irrigation structures in the Tumpukrenteng Irrigation District, Turen Subdistrict, Malang Regency, which serves approximately 98 hectares of agricultural land. The study focuses on physical infrastructure aspects, including main structures, conveyance channels, and ancillary structures. The research methodology involved field inspections, visual surveys of structure conditions, and direct measurements of damage levels supported by secondary technical data. The inventory data were analyzed using a weighting method based on the Irrigation System Performance Index standards, with an emphasis on physical infrastructure indicators. The results of the study indicate that, in general, the irrigation network remains in good condition; however, there are some localized damages such as minor cracks, surface peeling, sedimentation, and the growth of wild vegetation on certain canals and structures. These conditions have the potential to reduce flow efficiency and increase water loss if not addressed promptly. The physical performance metrics obtained indicate that the irrigation system is still functional but requires periodic maintenance and targeted repairs. In conclusion, this study provides a quantitative and objective assessment of the physical performance of the irrigation network, which serves as a basis for determining priorities for ongoing maintenance and rehabilitation.

Abstract

A decline in irrigation system performance is generally caused by infrastructure degradation and suboptimal management, which affect the effectiveness of water distribution to agricultural land. This study aims to evaluate the physical and functional performance of the irrigation network in the Gesang Irrigation District in Malang Regency as a basis for determining appropriate maintenance strategies. The research method employed a field survey approach and an irrigation performance index assessment based on parameters including physical infrastructure, crop productivity, supporting facilities, personnel organization, documentation, and the institutional framework of water-user farmers. The assessment was conducted on 33 sections of primary canals through observation of structural conditions and calculation of performance weights. The results of the study indicate that the physical condition of the infrastructure exhibits varying degrees of damage, with the following proportions: Good at 33.33%, Slightly Damaged at 33.33%, Moderately Damaged at 21.21%, Severely Damaged at 9.09%, and Natural at 3.03%. The overall performance score for the physical infrastructure reached 73.16%, which falls into the Moderately Damaged category. The component with the lowest score was the control structures at 67.50%, due to malfunctions in the distribution gates and intake structures. These conditions indicate that water distribution functions are beginning to be disrupted, necessitating rehabilitation at points of severe damage as well as intensive preventive maintenance to ensure the sustainability of irrigation services.

Abstract

The agricultural sector relies heavily on the reliability of irrigation infrastructure to ensure food production stability. This study aims to evaluate the physical performance of irrigation infrastructure in the Santren Irrigation District (DI), located in Jatisari Village, Tajinan Subdistrict, Malang Regency. The Santren IR serves 50 hectares of agricultural land supported by a network of primary canals spanning 2,488.45 meters, secondary canals 198.71 meters, and tertiary canals 167.87 meters. The research method employed was quantitative descriptive, involving an inventory of damage through field surveys and visual inspections of structures and canals. Performance assessment was based on the Irrigation System Performance Index (IKSI) criteria in accordance with Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing Regulation No. 12/PRT/M/2015, which covers the physical condition of main structures, conveyance channels, control structures, and other supporting facilities. The research results indicate that the physical infrastructure at the Santren Irrigation District is generally in adequate condition. Based on calculations, the total Irrigation System Performance Index (IKSI) score was 85.29%. This score places the performance of the Santren Irrigation District’s irrigation system in the “Still Functioning Well” category. However, several technical issues were identified in the field, such as minor cracks in the concrete wall structures, corrosion on the water gates, and sediment accumulation in the sediment traps and outflow channels, which have the potential to hinder the smooth distribution of water. Based on these findings, it is recommended that the managing authority (the Public Works and Water Resources Agency of Malang Regency) implement more systematic routine maintenance, particularly sediment dredging in sediment traps and functional repairs to corroded floodgate components. In addition, improvements to the quality of inspection roads are necessary to ensure unimpeded operational access and the sustainable monitoring of the irrigation network.

Abstract

A stable supply of irrigation water is a crucial factor for agricultural success, but its effectiveness depends heavily on the physical integrity of the irrigation network. This study aims to analyze the structural condition of physical assets and evaluate the performance of irrigation structures in the primary canal of the Cokro Irrigation District (DI), Jeru Village, Tumpang Subdistrict, Malang Regency. The evaluation focused on a 927-meter-long primary channel serving a 30-hectare rice field area. The research method used was quantitative descriptive, involving field surveys (inventory) and technical measurements in accordance with the standards set forth in Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing Regulation No. 12/PRT/M/2015. Primary data were obtained through visual inspections at 15 points along the primary channel and its ancillary structures to assess the extent of damage. Data analysis included calculating the percentage of network damage and determining the physical performance index. The results of the study indicate that the physical condition of the infrastructure is at the “cautionary maintenance” level. A total of 73.34% of the assets are in serviceable condition (Good and Slightly Damaged), but there are 26.67% of critical points categorized as Moderately Damaged, Severely Damaged, and Abandoned. The predominant forms of damage are sedimentation and the growth of wild vegetation that obstructs water flow. Based on calculations, the performance index of the Cokro irrigation system is 72.82%, which is classified as “Function impaired, requires repair.” The proposed technical recommendations are immediate rehabilitation at critical points and optimization of preventive maintenance to restore optimal water service functionality.

Abstract

Irrigation networks play a strategic role in ensuring water availability for agricultural production. This study was conducted in the Purworejo Irrigation District in Tunjungtirto Village, Singosari Subdistrict, Malang Regency, with a service area of 128 ha. The study aimed to assess the physical condition and operational functionality of the network and to determine the Irrigation System Performance Index as a basis for formulating remedial measures. The research approach involved direct field surveys combined with quantitative assessments using performance evaluation parameters for irrigation infrastructure. The aspects analyzed included the structural stability of the facilities, the operational reliability of the water gates, the smoothness of flow distribution, the level of sedimentation, and the condition of supporting facilities. The findings revealed infrastructure degradation characterized by concrete cracks, deterioration of the lining, corrosion of metal components, and sediment buildup that reduces flow capacity. Based on the calculations, the physical performance index reached 47.83%, which falls into the “severely damaged” category with a high level of functional impairment. These conditions indicate that water distribution services are not yet operating optimally. Therefore, a comprehensive rehabilitation program is needed, including structural repairs, channel cross-section normalization, replacement of control devices, and improvements to the drainage system to restore the irrigation network’s performance in a sustainable manner.

Abstract

The Jangkung Irrigation District (DI) in Dadapan Village, Wajak Subdistrict, Malang Regency, is a vital piece of infrastructure serving 39 ha of farmland. As it ages, this irrigation system is experiencing a decline in performance due to the physical degradation of its infrastructure. This study aims to evaluate the physical performance of the Jangkung DI infrastructure to determine the health status of the network and prioritize its maintenance. The methodology employed combines qualitative visual inspections in the field with quantitative analysis based on Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing Regulation No. 12/PRT/M/2015. The assessment focused on five main components of the physical infrastructure: main structures, conveyance channels, structures along the conveyance channels, drainage channels, and inspection roads. The results of the study show that the Main Structures have a performance weight of 78.00%, indicating that structural integrity remains good but is hindered by invasive vegetation. Meanwhile, the Conveyance Channels recorded a score of 58.04%, Structures on Conveyance Channels 52.50%, Discharge Channels 50.00%, and Inspection Roads 55.00%. Cumulatively, the Irrigation System Performance Index (IKSI) for the Jangkung Irrigation District (DI Jangkung) is 59.79%. According to standard classifications, this rating places the Jangkung Irrigation System in the “Damaged” category, where the system’s functionality is severely impaired and requires major repairs or replacement. Recommended technical measures include normalizing the drainage channels, routinely clearing vegetation, and making permanent repairs to the water gates to maintain the efficiency of water distribution to farmers.
