Abstract

This study investigates the influence of interior element colors on the activities of classroom users at SPS Mutiara Bunda. In the context of early childhood education, color is a critical factor that can impact children's mood, behavior, and learning outcomes. The research aims to explore how the selection of colors in classroom elements—such as walls, furniture, and decorations—affects children's concentration, creativity, and social interaction. The study employs a descriptive qualitative methodology, involving observations, interviews, and document analysis to gain an in-depth understanding of the behavior and responses of children in different classroom settings. The results reveal that certain color schemes significantly enhance children's participation in learning activities, foster positive social interactions, and create an environment conducive to both emotional and cognitive development. The findings provide actionable insights for educators and designers in creating classrooms that better meet the developmental needs of young children.

Abstract

The rapid growth of fast fashion has led to significant environmental damage. In contrast, Indonesia's traditional weaving industry represents a sustainable production method. However, local fabric brands emphasizing sustainability are not well-known. This study aims to design an information center and gallery to promote eco-friendly woven fabrics, utilizing sustainable materials such as bamboo, glass, and wood. The main objective is to raise public awareness of sustainable woven fabrics and support local brands with sustainable principles. A qualitative research approach was used, including data collection through questionnaires and surveys. Observations were made at the Textile Museum and Batik Keris to inform the design process. The design incorporates sustainable materials and aims to educate the public about environmentally friendly woven fabrics. The project includes spaces for workshops, information dissemination, and displays, promoting sustainable development goals and preserving Indonesian cultural heritage.

Abstract

The interior revitalization of the former SMPN 13 Widuran Surakarta into the Surakarta City KONI Office, with an integration of the Sidomukti Batik theme, seeks to preserve and rejuvenate the cultural heritage of the historic building while adapting it for contemporary use. The current underutilization of the building’s facilities and its inadequate spatial atmosphere have been identified as significant detriments to user experience and efficiency. This study adopts the Pamudji Suptandar design methodology, which involves three critical phases: data input, analytical synthesis, and design output. Through this structured approach, the project aims to achieve a balanced restoration that respects the building's historical integrity while providing a functional and aesthetically pleasing office environment. The findings are expected to offer valuable insights and practical applications for interior designers, particularly in the area of revitalizing cultural heritage interiors to meet modern demands without compromising their historical value.

Abstract

Student community spaces are essential facilities provided by universities to support various extracurricular activities. However, these spaces often fail to fully accommodate the diverse needs and activities of students, leading to a process of adaptation where users modify the space by adding both physical and non-physical elements. This study, utilizing behavior mapping and questionnaires, aims to analyze how students use and adapt these community spaces, focusing on the territorial adjustments made through physical elements and user activities. The findings reveal that most space adaptations involve semifixed elements, particularly in areas where informal activities take place. In contrast, formal activities tend to be conducted in indoor spaces where the physical elements are predominantly fixed. These insights highlight the necessity for more flexible and adaptable design strategies in student community spaces to better meet the needs of their users.
