Abstract

Based on data released by UNICEF in 2020, it was found that 1 in 5 girls in Indonesia do not know about hygiene management during menstruation. Taboos and stigma limit female students' activities during menstruation. The absence of female students at school makes them miss out on their lessons. Menstrual Hygiene Management (MKM) is the management of hygiene and health for women who menstruate. The Ministry of Health strives for menstrual hygiene by implementing three School Health Efforts (Trias UKS), namely health education, health services and fostering a healthy school environment. The aim of this activity is to provide education to teenagers regarding personal hygiene practices during menstruation. The activity was carried out at the Anggun Nan Tongga Youth Posyandu which is included in the work area of the Pauh Community Health Center, Kampung Jawa I, Kota Pariaman and was held on August 19 2021 at the Village Head Office. Java I. The number of participants who attended were 20 teenagers at elementary, middle and high school levels who were active in Youth Posyandu activities. Education is delivered using lecture and discussion methods, and is equipped with supporting media in the form of slides and leaflets. The evaluation used is a pretest and post-test to determine whether there is an increase in teenagers' knowledge. After being given education, it was found that 65% of teenagers already had a high level of knowledge regarding hygiene management during menstruation. Teenagers already have good knowledge about how to manage hygiene during menstruation and also understand how to dispose of used sanitary napkins.

Abstract

Tourist destinations are one of the vulnerable places for the spread of Covid-19, as they allow interactions with visitors and food business operators around the tourism locations. Based on data from 2021, it was found that the public's compliance with health protocols in tourist areas in Kota Padang is still low, which poses a risk of increasing Covid-19 cases. Implementing health protocols by following the 5M Movement (maintaining distance, wearing masks, handwashing, avoiding crowds, and reducing travel) at tourist spots such as Pantai Padang is a necessary step for both visitors and business operators in the vicinity of tourist areas to protect themselves and minimize the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic. The purpose of this activity is to educate tourism stakeholders about the importance of implementing health protocols at tourist locations. The implementation method to improve discipline and compliance in the application of health protocols at tourist sites includes conducting location surveys and coordination with partners, educating visitors and tourism stakeholders on health protocol implementation, and conducting evaluations. This activity also provides health promotion materials and distributes masks to visitors and provides handwashing facilities for food business operators. The results of the activity include an increase in participants' knowledge of health protocol implementation in tourist areas, from 13.28 to 13.89, with an average increase of 2.11 points. It is hoped that the Tourism Department will continue to monitor and enhance awareness among tourism stakeholders about the importance of implementing health protocols at tourist destinations.

Abstract

The implementation of the Strength-Based Community Response program was primarily aimed at investigating the effectiveness of this approach in enhancing psychological functioning and well-being within a high-risk environment located in Nagari Kampung Baru, Pesisir Selatan Regency. This high-risk environment encompasses communities facing a multitude of complex challenges in the social, economic, and psychological realms. The intervention was carried out through a structured series of stages, commencing with the establishment of rapport with the respective community, followed by core activities, and concluding with program evaluation to measure its success and necessary follow-up actions. The entire population of Nagari Kampung Baru, Pesisir Selatan Regency, participated in this program with the broader goal of establishing a healthy and prosperous model village. The results derived from this program unequivocally demonstrate the effectiveness of the Strength-Based Community Response approach in improving individual psychological functioning while simultaneously stimulating the development of underutilized community resources. Participants engaged in these activities experienced a significant increase in their subjective well-being levels. Furthermore, they reported substantial improvements in self-awareness, social relationships, and their perception of their ability to control their personal lives. In conclusion, the practical implications arising from this research effort include two main points: first, it reaffirms the potential application of similar approaches as effective intervention models to enhance the quality of life and well-being of individuals within their respective environments. Second, this approach underscores the importance of community engagement and empowerment in the pursuit of holistic well-being.
