Abstract

The research was conducted in order to investigate condition factor, length-weight relationship, and reproductive aspect of Aphareus rutilans in Palabuhanratu Sea, Sukabumi, West Java from June 2005 to February 2006. Sample fish was captured by hand line. A total of 151 individuals were taken. The fish samples ranged from 245-830 mm in length. Length-weight relationship showed that fish had negative allometric growth type. Condition factor of male and female varied from 0.88 - 1.13 and 0.89 - 1.19 consecutively. Chi-Square test showed that sex ratio was unbalance. The stage of gonad maturity was found I, II, and IV for males and I - II for females.

Abstract

This research was aimed to study not only on gross morphologically but also on the histological structure of the Tetraodon lunaris digestive apparatus. The fish samples were obtained from a fisherman at the fish auction in Pelabuhan Ratu, from August 2005 until March 2006. The ratio between intestine and length/body length represented that this fish is carnivorous. The esophagus is short and the gastric forms a simple pouch with two of small diverticula. The intestine consists of a single loop. The esophagus and gastric mucous layer is covered with epithelial stratified cells. The intestine mucous layer has covered with a layer of columnar epithelial cells. The esophagus and gastric muscular layer consist of striated muscle. The sphincter pylorica and the intestine muscular layer consist of smooth muscle. The anus mucous layer consits of epithelial cuboid and it has the muscular layer of striated muscles. The liver has oval-shaped greenish vesica fellea with ductus choledochus emptied at the anterior part of intestine. The hepatocyt cells have a polygonal shape with lipid droplets in its. The exocrine glands of the pancreas tissue showed a set of acinar cells in the liver parencyhm, around portal vein, hepatic artery and biliary ductules.

Abstract

Data ikan dikumpulkan dari sejumlah penelitian lapangan dan pengumpulan dari pasar ikan dari berbagai tempat: Amfoang, Pulau Timor (Desember 2002); Biak, Papua (September 2000); Bitung, Sulawesi Utara (Juli, September dan Oktober 2000); Pulau Komodo (Juii 2001); Sungai Memberamo (Juni 1999); Riung, Pulau Flores (Juni 2001); Rote Timur, Pulau Rote (April 2003); Sorong, Papua (September 2000); Wini, Pulau Timor (Desember 2000) dan Kupang, Pulau Timor (1999-2003). Jumlah keseluruhan yang dikumpulkan ada 2007 spesimen yang tercakup dalam 88 famili, 260 genera, dan 632 spesies.

Abstract

Study on the morphological variation of the silver whiting (Sillago sihama) was conducted using samples collected in some locations in Indonesia (Ujung Pangkah-East Java Province, Segara Anakan-Central Java Province, Arafuru Sea-Maluku Province and Dumai-Riau Province) using gill net and mini trawl from 1995 to 1998. Some meristics and morphometries characters were observed to estimate population characteristics. Some meristics characters (pectoral rays, scales at lateral line and scales at caudal peduncle), and some morphometries characters (the body depth, caudal peduncle length, predorsal length, length of dorsal fin base 2, length of pectoral fin, length of pelvic fin, head length, head width, snout length, suborbital width, orbit to pre opercle angle and eye diameter-devided by total length) were important characters to investigate local population. Using multivariate analysis, they could not show a significations among local population of S. sihama, therefore it seems signification in the local population of Arafuru Sea group and others.ABSTRAKPengamatan terhadap variasi morfologi ikan putih (Sillago sihama) di Indonesia dilakukan dengan menggunakan sampel ikan dari beberapa lokasi (Ujung Pangkah-Jawa Timur, Segara Anakan-Jawa Tengah, Laut Arafuru-Maluku dan Dumai-Propinsi Riau) dengan menggunakan jaring insang dan mini trawl dari tahun 1995 sampai 1998. Beberapa parameter meristik dan morfometrik dilakukan pengamatannya untuk mengetahui karakter populasi. Beberapa karakter meristik (panjang jari-jari sirip dada, sisik pada linea lateralis dan sisik pada batang ekor), dan karakter morfometrik (tinggi badan, panjang batang ekor, panjang depan sirip punggung, panjang dasar sirip punggung ke 2, panjang sirip dada, panjang sirip perut, panjang kepala, lebar kepala, panjang hidung, lebar antar mata, panjang antara mata dan tutp insang depan, lebar mata yang dibagi dengan panjang total) merupakan karakter yang penting dalam pengamatan populasi lokal. Dengan menggunakan analisis multivariate, belum menampakkan perbedaannya antar populasi S. sihama, namun demikian terdapat perbedaan antara kelompok populasi Laut Arafuru dibandingkan dengan yang lain.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know growth in various life stages of Scleropagus jardinii Saville-Kent 1892 during domestication particularly the ranching system. Growth, food conversion, survival rate and water qualities were determined for each life stage. The result showed that each life stage is characterized by different growth. Highest food conversion was showed by adult followed by adolescent and juvenile have lowest amount of food conversion. Each life stage showed 100% for survival rate. Water quality in this experiment was adequate to support growth in fish.

Abstract

Kota Bangun is production center of fisheries in East Kalimantan. This area has waters, i.e. Mahakam River, lakes of Semayang, Melintang and Jempang. Study of freshwater fishes in Semayang and Melintang lakes was done during September and October 1995 (dry season). The aims of study were to determine fish diversity, structure, composition, potency, abundance, distribution and habitat condition. The result recorded 15 species. Barbodes collingwoodi have dominant of abundance and distribution; and Cyprinidae was dominant family. Both the Semayang and Melintang lakes have high of similarity index and evenness index. The diversity index in Melintang was higher than Semayang.

Abstract

Enam ratus empat puluh lima spesimen ikan Clarias terutama dikumpulkan dari Vietnam, Thailand dan Indonesia dipelajari ciri morfometriknya dengan cara pengukuran dan penghitungan mens:ik Terdapat 29 titik-titik pengukuran untuk setiap spesimen, 5 penghitungan meristik dan 5 pengamatan morfologi spesifik, Karakter-karakter tersebut (selain panjang standar) dipilih untuk diagnosanya. Data morfometrik diukur menggunakan kalifer dengan ketel itian sampai 0,5 mm. Data tersebut d i anal is is untuk membedakan antara spesies dan untuk menyusun kunci identifikasi.

Abstract

The research was conducted from June to September 2005 was aimed to describe the growth of flying fish (Hirundichthys oxycephalus). Fish sample that were taken from capture of local fishermen. Laboratory analysis included fish identification, measurement of total length and weight. Data analysis included length frequency, growth parameter, length weight relationship and condition factor. The number of sample fish was 242, which total length ranged 214.5 - 278.5 mm. The von Bertalanffy growth equation was Lt = 321.13(1-e -0.1514(L+0.5875)). Male and female grow'th model is negative allometric, and the equations were W = 0.0003 L 2.2877 and W = 0.002 L 1.9579 consecutively. Weight growth model of von Bertalanffy was: Wt = 167.57 (1 - e-0.1514 (1+0.5875)) 2.2042. The average of condition factor male ranged from 1.05 - 1.18 while female ranged from 0.97 - 1.10. The highest condition factor of male occurred at June (1.18) while female at August (1.10).

Abstract

Gynogenesis has been done in many kind of fishes that aims to produce only female homozygot population vastly. Gynogenesis can be used to improve genetic degree because the development of egg is solely controlled by the mother. If we use superior mothers, the characters can be inherited to their offspring. The purposes of this experiment were to know the rate of survival and length addition of gynogenesis nilem fish in laboratory until 30 days post hatching and to know the development stage of their gonad. This experiment produced two kind data. The first data were quantitative data such as survival rate and addition length rate of gynogenesis and control nilem fishes. Those data were analyzed with the t-test. The second data, qualitative data were collected by observing the texture and developmental stage of gonad. Then data were analyzed descriptively. The result showed that survival rate and addition length rate of gynogenesis and control nilem fishes of 30 days post hatching in the different density were different significantly with control fishes, but the rate of addition length of gynogenesis in nilem fishes were not different significantly with control. Whereas, microscopically gonad gynogenesis in nilem fish of 30 days post hatching was not different from control and undifferentiated. The appearance gonad was as sac that consisted of oval cells with a big size and with big nucleus too. Those big cells were suggested as primordial germ cells.

Abstract

Glossolepis incisus is among the most beautiful members of the family Melanotaeniidae and the color of mature males is bright red, so it has the economical value as ornamental fish. The species is endemic at Lake Sentani - Irian. The problem found in rearing of the fish such as the decreasing of the color appearance and low growth rate. The research aimed to study the effect of feeding type and light intensity to the color appearance and growth rate of G. incisus (males). The research was conducted in September -December 2002 by utilizing three different feeds types, that were Chironomus, Tubificidae and pellet combination with light intensity (high: 300 lux and low 180 lux) in three replicates. Combination of pellet and light intensity (300 lux) is the best in color appearance, and Tubificidae treatment showed highest growth rate of the fish. Survival rate are 100%.
