Abstract

This research was aimed to study not only on gross morphologically but also on the histological structure of the Tetraodon lunaris digestive apparatus. The fish samples were obtained from a fisherman at the fish auction in Pelabuhan Ratu, from August 2005 until March 2006. The ratio between intestine and length/body length represented that this fish is carnivorous. The esophagus is short and the gastric forms a simple pouch with two of small diverticula. The intestine consists of a single loop. The esophagus and gastric mucous layer is covered with epithelial stratified cells. The intestine mucous layer has covered with a layer of columnar epithelial cells. The esophagus and gastric muscular layer consist of striated muscle. The sphincter pylorica and the intestine muscular layer consist of smooth muscle. The anus mucous layer consits of epithelial cuboid and it has the muscular layer of striated muscles. The liver has oval-shaped greenish vesica fellea with ductus choledochus emptied at the anterior part of intestine. The hepatocyt cells have a polygonal shape with lipid droplets in its. The exocrine glands of the pancreas tissue showed a set of acinar cells in the liver parencyhm, around portal vein, hepatic artery and biliary ductules.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to observe the relationship of development of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) cells of adenohypophysis–adrenal cortex axis during pre and postnatal period of longtailed monkey (Macaca fascicularis). Five fetuses aged 70, 85, 100, 120, and 150 days of gestation and 2new born aged 10 and 105 days old were used as research materials. The sections of the pituitary gland stained immunohistochemically using human ACTH antiserum and the adrenal glands stained by Hematoxylin-Eosin procedures. At the fetus 120 days old, the ACTH cells and blood vessel of fetaladenohypophysis developed well and its similar that found in older age. This condition suggested distributing the ACTH to whole body optimally. At the same time, the adrenal cortex cells of fetus 120 days old were active in proliferation and differentiation processes to form transition zone that lies between definitive and fetal zones, and central vein also developed in adrenal gland. In fetus aged 150 days, the cortex adrenal structure was similar with found in older fetus. The adenohypophysis ACTH cells developed earlier than adrenal cortex and their secretion suggested influencing the development of adrenal cortex cells of long-tailed monkey.

Abstract

Antibiotic-resistant is a global issue. Klebsiella pneumoniae has high priority to find its antibiotic because it has extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) enzyme that makes the bacteria easy to resist the antibiotic. The study of phytochemicals in medicinal plants is one of the efforts to find antibiotics. Indrulizia is one of the empirical medicinal plants containing flavonoids used to treat disease. The aim of this study was to analyze the potential of borage as an antibacterial agent against Klebsiella pneumoniae in silico. Docking is the method for this study using AutoDock Vina. This is an application for docking the enzyme ESBL from K. pneumoniae, referred to as SHV (sulfhydryl variable), and the metabolite second from plants. The parameters analyzed were binding free energies, inhibition constants and visualization in 3D and 2D. The free energy of binding and the inhibition constant of the native ligand are -6.7 kcal/mol and 12.118 μM. The binding free energy values ​​of apigenin 7-glucuronide and rosmarinic acid show higher potencies than the native ligand of SHV-1 (1,4-thiazepine).
