Abstract

The debate over the universality of Universal Declaration of Human Rights remains taking place. Apart from the fact that the document remains popular and has been encouraged by many countries around the world. The debate revolves around values and cultural differences among countries claiming that Western values have been predominating the content of the declaration itself. This essay argues that the dispute towards the universality of UDHR would likely form a robust standard and values of internationally recognized human rights as long as a cross-cultural and cross-philosophical talk could be encouraged.

Abstract

This paper analyzed the use of rape as a weapon in Democratic Republic of Congo conflict zone. Rape usually used by the arm group to weaken their enemy. This strategy did not only targeted to women but also men. Rape gave different effect toward women and men. The purpose of this paper is to explain how rape become the weapon of conflict and their effect to the victims, even men and woman. Feminist perspective used in this paper. In the end, the author found that women have a way to overcome the effect and impact of rape better than men do. Social structure, which placed men in the upper side of women, made the effect and impact on the men who experienced rape victim hard to release their suffering. Therefore, the main goal of this paper is to show how women and men could manage their self as a victim in the conflict zone.

Abstract

This article will explain the regional security complex as a key challenge in the establishment of regional security cooperation in East Asia. The complex of security in East Asia described by explaining the security relations between North Korea and South Korea, China and Japan, the United States with Japan, and China with the United States and a pattern of chain reaction to the various security policies of these countries. This security complex makes it difficult to establish effective regional security cooperation. The Challenge of the regional security complex that most decisive in the formation of cooperation that will be done by the countries of the East Asia region is due to competition and differences of interests between the United States and China as a superpower state in the region. In addition, the many differences in the nature and orientation of political interests of Japan, South Korea, and North Korea are also still a constraint in the formation of regional security organizations and cooperation.

Abstract

The biological/essentialist theory of gender assumes that biological sexes determine the behavior patterns and roles of males and associates them with masculinity and females and associates them with femininity. However, there is debate to determine whether genders are biological or socially and culturally constructed. Feminist critique of the power relation between masculinity and femininity defined as the power to give privilege to the position of masculinity and men, and acknowledge the subordination of femininity and women. People also guided to conform to gender norms in society as identity. Female masculinity emerged as part of a resistance to the gender norms where females should adopt and perform feminine values and ways of life. This paper analyze the position of female masculinity, which is distinct from masculinity in patriarchic systems. This paper also analyze the early stage of female masculinity, tomboyism called Bacha Posh as experienced by many girls in Afghanistan. This paper showed to us that the phenomena of Bacha Posh reflect the gender trait was not flexible. It was decided by the need to fulfill patriarchy system in Afghan society.

Abstract

This research was aimed to analyze Indonesian government effort in building Indonesian cultural heritage as a nation brand. This research explains how Indonesian government process and batik artist, cultural and entrepreneur in establishing identity and brand nation of Indonesia. Utilization of batik as a nation brand is an innovation and a new tool in building the identity of the Indonesian nation. There are four steps of the nation brand development process that is training, identification, implementation, evaluation successfully applied by the government. The success of the nation-building brand built with the artists batik artists, cultural and businessmen is the entry of batik as world cultural heritage. This development process is also expected to regenerate the young generation of Indonesia to directly promote and preserve batik.

Abstract

The international terrorism usually has intercourse with the illegal trade to available funds them that group can survive. Various terrorist network generally has a very different ways with the others, so it was hard to figure relation between one and the other. Nevertheless, in a manner funding had then we can see how a terrorist network was in a continent can be connected with terrorists in other continents through this funding. Terrorist financing itself obtained from illegal trade like as drug trafficking and illegal weapons. Drug trafficking by terrorists is then called narcoterrorism where business assisted by user in the world. The user uses the links between terrorist networks on the continents.
