Abstract

The potential for renewable energy in Indonesia is abundant, such as water energy. This energy potential can be used for Micro Hydro Power Plants (PLTMH). This study aims to study the effect of turbine head angle and screw angle parameters on the efficiency and power of screw-type water turbines. The angles used are turbine shaft angles of 20 °, 25 °, and 30 ° at screw angles of 22 ° and 26 °. Then a design was made using Autodesk Inventor and then simulated using Ansys software. The results of the study showed that the greatest power and the greatest turbine efficiency were obtained at a screw angle of 26 ° with a turbine shaft angle of 30 ° with a power value of 80072.98 watts and an efficiency of 95.37%. While the lowest power and efficiency were at a screw angle of 22 ° and a shaft angle of 20 ° with a power value of 72643.44 watts with an efficiency of 86.52%. So from this research, it was found that the good angle value is at the variation of the thread angle of 26° and the turbine shaft angle of 30°.

Abstract

This research focuses on the design of a clamping connector for high-voltage electrical systems using the permanent mold casting method. The design was developed using CAD/CAM software, with materials selected based on mechanical strength and temperature resistance. A prototype was created using CNC technology to ensure precision. The permanent mold design method was chosen to reduce production costs and improve efficiency without the need for welding processes. The results of the research indicate that this method produces clamping connectors that can be manufactured without the use of welding. The product design and permanent mold have been completed and are ready for production.

Abstract

Vehicle construction requires strong joints to connect various materials. Many connections are made by welding, riveting, and adhesive bonding. Adhesive bonding has the advantages of efficiency, corrosion resistance, and ease of application. This research aims to analyze the effect of using sikaflex (SK) - epoxy (EP) mixed adhesive on the shear tensile strength of single lap joint aluminum. The material used was aluminum 5083 and sika flex and epoxy adhesives with an adhesive thickness of 0.4 mm, as well as variations in surface pattern treatment. The results showed that the highest tensile strength and modulus of elasticity in the variation of 10% SK: 90% EP with surface pattern 90º cross-type amounted to 2.34 MPa and 79.29 MPa. The highest strain was in the variation of 30% SK and 70% EP composition with a 0º horizontal surface pattern of 0.0466. The failure modes that occur are cohesive failure and thin-layer cohesive failure.

Abstract

This research aims to design the EV Home Charger design with a CFD approach to analyze the heat transfer in the EV Home Charger casing using CAE software. The EV Home Charger design made in this research uses polycarbonate as the main material and provides several variations such as without a cooling fan and with a cooling fan. The results of this study show that the temperature generated by the EV Home Charger design without a fan has a higher temperature of 42.94℃, the EV Home Charger with a fan speed of 8 m/s is 40.85℃ with a percentage decrease in temperature of 5%. While the electric power consumed by the EV Home Charger without a fan has a higher power consumption of 68.79 watts and the EV Home Charger with an 8 m/s fan requires 61.93 watts of electric power, so it has a percentage of power reduction of 10%.

Abstract

Industrial growth, especially iron and steel, is growing rapidly today. In this industry, welding is an important aspect that needs to be considered to achieve results that meet standards. The SMAW welding process is often used to improve joint quality. This study aims to explore the effect of the combination of current strength and electrode diameter on the hardness and tensile strength of galvanized steel welded with an E6013 electrode. The results showed that the combination of current strength of 80 A and electrode diameter of 2.6 mm produced the highest hardness value of 221.5 VHN and the largest tensile strength of 358.16 MPa, with ferrite dominance in the microstructure.
