Abstract

The performance of solar cell with various surface texture patterns was reported. Wet, RIE, one and two dimensions texturing with and without the nitride antireflection coating were compared. An I-V tester calibrated by Sandia National Laboratory was used. The surface texture of the solar cells were as follows (a) solar cell with 2D texturing without nitride antireflection, (b) solar cell with 1D texturing with nitride antireflection (c) solar cell with 1D texturing without nitride antireflection, (d) solar cell with wet texturing without nitride antireflection, (e) solar cell with wet texturing with nitride antireflection (f) solar cell with RIE texturing with nitride antireflection. RIE and two dimension surface texturing showed the best output with maximum short density current of 0.042 mA/cm2 and of 0.045 mA/cm2 respectively.

Abstract

Activities of spent catalysts were examined in hydrodesulfurization (HDS) of gas oil at 340oC under 50 kg/cm2 H2. Two types of spent commercial catalyst (NiMo/Al2O3 dan CoMo/Al2O3) were used in single and two-stage of reaction configuration to show the inhibition effect of the by-product such as H2S and NH3. Hydrogen renewal between stages was attempted to show additional inhibition effects of the by-products such as H2S and NH3. Spent NiMo/Al2O3 dan CoMo/Al2O3 catalysts showed contrasting activities in HDS. HDS over spent CoMo/Al2O3 was much improved by H2 refreshment. The effect of two-stage hydrodesulfurization was markedly reduced over the spent NiMo/Al2O3. Spent catalysts apparently lost their activity due to the carbon deposition, which covered the active sites more preferentially.

Abstract

The paper describes the fundamental gasification characteristic of biomass and low rank coal mixture in gasification process using co-gasification methods as mixed fuel in fluidized bed gasifier furnace. The experiments focused in getting quality of gas produced from gasification processes of rice husks and low rank coal. The experiment on rice husks gasification found that every given fuel flow rate, the air fuel ratio increases with the rising of bed temperature. Higher operating temperatures lead to the lower heating values of gas product. More fuel needed to be burnt in order to attain higher temperature of the bed, however, the increase of operating temperature will increase in the efficiency of gasificationof rural society in development of PLTM/H to support rural electricity will work successfully.

Abstract

In this study, the effect of diameter particle and the effect of inter-particle cohesion force due to liquid bridge formation on the minimum fluidization velocity in the fluidized bed have investigated. Also the effect of inter-particle cohesion force on a fluidization condition of the bed has observed by video camera. The investigation results showed bigger diameter can give higher minimum fluidization velocity, and stronger inter-particle force can give higher minimum fluidization velocity, and then make a quality of fluidization of bed lower. Using with this investigation results, the mechanism of fouling and slagging phenomena, which are happen in the coal-fired boiler can be explained.

Abstract

UK energy policy includes a target to obtain 15% of electricity from renewables sources by 2015, increasing to some 20% by 2020. Support for energy RD D continues, while wind energy has reached the position of commercial deployment supported by a Renewables Portfolio System (RPS) and the Renewables Obligation (RO). Proposed adjustments to the operation of the RO have increased the commercial attractiveness of offshore wind development. With measures to address practical issues including grid connection and planning consenting, the deployment of onshore and offshore wind is accelerating: 2,200 MW of capacity is operational, 1,400 MW is under construction, and some further 7,000 MW is consented or in planning. Round three of offshore wind licensing is expected to result in a further 13,000 MW of capacity. Specialised capabilities to support these developments already represent a new branch of industry.
