Abstract

Basic sanitation is influenced by many factors, one of which is welfare. As a component of welfare formation, income directly or indirectly influences sanitation behaviour, impacting a person's health. In children, poor health and nutritional intake are one of the causes of stunting. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between family income and the availability of basic sanitation at a stunting locus, one of which is in a village in Bandung Regency. This research method uses quantitative correlational methods with secondary data analysis. It obtained 204 respondents based on purposive sampling calculations, which were analyzed using the Chi-square test. The study found that the community's income was below the Regency UMK by 58.8%, equivalent to UMK IDR 5,000,000 as much as 38.7%, above IDR 5,000,000 as much as 2.5%. Meanwhile, 77.9% of clean water sources, 70.1% of waste management (latrines) and wastewater, and 5.9% of waste disposal meet the requirements of good condition. The Chi-Square test shows that income has no significant relationship with clean water sources (r=0.448), latrine management (r=0.325), and garbage disposal (r=0.240). So there is no relationship between family income and the availability of basic sanitation, considering that other factors affect the availability of basic sanitation.

Abstract

Virtual reality is a technology-based learning media designed to increase student self-efficacy in performing nursing skills, one of which is suctioning. However, virtual reality has yet to be tested for its effectiveness. This study aims to determine virtual reality learning media's effectiveness in increasing student self-efficacy in performing suction nursing actions. This study used a quasi-experiment method with a one-group pre-test post-test design approach. The population in this study were 191 active students of the Faculty of Nursing, Universitas Padjadjaran. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling and obtained a sample of 68 people by the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The instrument used was a self-efficacy questionnaire developed from Bandura's theory and consisted of 35 statement items. Selected respondents filled out the pre-test and were then given an intervention by performing suction nursing actions using virtual reality after completing the post-test. Data were analyzed using the non-parametric Wilcoxon signed rank test because the data were not normally distributed. After being given the intervention, there was an increase in student self-efficacy in performing suction nursing actions, as evidenced by an increase in the median in the post-test results (113.5) compared to the pre-test results (102). The test results on the Wilcoxon signed rank test showed that the p-value showed a significant difference in self-efficacy after using virtual reality learning media (p = 0.00). Virtual reality learning media can increase student self-efficacy in performing suction nursing actions.

Abstract

Stunting is an important global issue. One of the causes of stunting is the mother's inability to recognize it. Mother's knowledge will influence the way waste management and clean water supply. This study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge about stunting and providing clean water and waste management in preventing stunting in Sukamulya Village. This research method is a quantitative correlation using secondary data. The population in this study were 55 mothers who had toddlers in Rancaekek District, Sumedang. The sampling technique used was total sampling. This study’s analysis used univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-Square test. The results of the study show that there is no relationship between the level of knowledge about stunting and the provision of clean water (p = 0.375), and there is no relationship between knowledge about stunting and waste management (p = 0.175). These results show that the level of knowledge is not a reference in the emergence of good behavior. Good knowledge influences behavior, but there are other aspects. Especially behavior towards the availability of clean water and waste management in preventing stunting. Further studies are needed by changing the variables used and the methods used.

Abstract

The rapid growth of information and communication technology, such as virtual reality, affects students’ learning outcomes and their success in providing health services in the future. However, prolonged use of immersive technology could lead to health problems due to repetitive interaction with hardware devices, resulting in a sensory conflict called cybersickness. This study aimed to identify the cybersickness response among nursing students in using virtual reality. This research used a pre-experiment design, and a total of 49 nursing students participated. The Simulator Sickness Questionnaire was used to assess cybersickness and physiological responses. The data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The median post-test values for the three components (nausea, oculomotor, disorientation) in cybersickness were 28.7; 45.5; 83.6; and 606.1, respectively. We found statistically significant differences in cybersickness between pre- and post-intervention periods (p < .001). Heart rate and body temperature increased significantly (p < .001; p < .001, respectively), while in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure decreased (p < .001). According to the findings, using VR as an alternative learning media could initiate cybersickness on a certain level. Thus, the physiological response would be different for each participant.

Abstract

Parental knowledge about toddler feeding patterns is one of the factors that can affect the incidence of stunting. Knowledge about toddlers' feeding patterns can be influenced by socioeconomic factors such as education level, occupation, and income. This study analyzed the relationship between education level, occupation, and income with parental knowledge of toddler feeding patterns in the stunting locus. This study used a quantitative correlation design with a secondary data approach. The population is the respondent from secondary data, parents with toddlers in Sukamulya Village. The samples were taken using the total sampling technique of 76 people. The variables in the study were education level, occupation, income, and knowledge of child nutrition patterns. The instrument consisted of questions on education level, employment status, income level, and 14 toddler feeding patterns knowledge questions. Statistical test using Chi-square with 5% significance level. The results of the study found that there was no relationship between education level (p-value=0.282), occupation (p-value=0.717), and income (p-value=1.000) with toddler feeding patterns knowledge. It is due to other factors that influence the knowledge of children's eating habits. More research is needed to determine the factors that influence knowledge of children's feeding patterns.

Abstract

The use of virtual reality can provide a transformative learning experience for nursing students, which can be evaluated with an instrument. A valid and consistent instrument can provide correct data, so an instrument needs to be tested psychometrically so that the validity and consistency of the instrument can be known, especially on adapted instruments. The aim to translate and test the validity and reliability of the Indonesian version of the Web-Based Learning Tools (WBLT) Evaluation Scale. The research design used was descriptive-quantitative with a cross-sectional approach. The study population was undergraduate students of the Faculty of Nursing at Universitas Padjadjaran, with a total sample size of 104 through purposive sampling. The Web-Based Learning Tools were used, with validity and reliability testing using SPSS based on Pearson correlation values and Cronbach's alpha. The Pearson correlation test yielded results of r-count > 0.2279 and Cronbach's alpha test = 0.919. Based on the results of the study, the instrument has good validity and very high reliability. The Indonesian version of the WBLT instrument is valid and reliable, so further research can use the instrument to evaluate the use of virtual reality on the learning experience of nursing students.

Abstract

Confidence is essential for nursing students in producing better practice of nursing action skills, so this needs to be supported by good learning media. One of the learning media currently developing is virtual reality simulation, an interactive learning media based on immersive technology that combines real space (reality) with virtual space (virtual). This study aimed to analyze the effect of virtual reality simulation in urinary catheterization on the self-confidence of nursing students. This study used a pre-experiment design with a one-group pretest-posttest design approach. Self-confidence was measured using The Confidence Scale questionnaire, consisting of five items. The sampling technique uses a purposive sampling technique with a minimum total sample is 49 students. The data collected were analyzed using the non-parametric Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The result showed an increase in the mean value in the post-test results (21.65) compared to the pretest results (16.98), with an average increase of 4.67 points. The statistical test results showed a significant difference after using virtual reality simulation on nursing students' confidence (p <0.05). So, virtual reality simulation is a learning media that influences nursing students' confidence in performing urinary catheterization skills.

Abstract

Stunting is still a nutritional health problem in children that has received the attention of the developing world. Knowledge of stunting plays a role in efforts to prevent stunting. Breastfeeding in the first six months of life is one of the preventive behaviours whose success is influenced by knowledge. This research aimed to determine the relationship between stunting knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding behaviour in mothers with toddlers. This research design is secondary research with quantitative correlational methods with a retrospective approach. The sample was determined through a purposive sampling technique with the inclusion criteria of mothers with toddlers and exclusion criteria for mothers with children over five years old so that 55 respondents were obtained. The instrument includes demographic information, stunting knowledge, and exclusive breastfeeding behaviour. The statistical test used is Chi-Square. The study results show no relationship between the level of knowledge about stunting and exclusive breastfeeding behaviour (p-value = 0.16). Knowledge can affect the occurrence of the behaviour, but other aspects can influence the occurrence of a behaviour. Further research is needed by modifying the methods and variables used.

Abstract

An obstetric emergency is a condition that can threaten the life of a pregnant woman and the fetus, which occurs during pregnancy, childbirth and the puerperium. This review   aimed to analyze the effectiveness of emergency obstetric interventions based on previous studies. The study was a systematic review carried out in seven stages through three databases from Ebsco, Pubmed and Proquest. The keywords used were (pregnant women) AND (emergency intervention) AND (nursing OR nurse) NOT (systematic review). The inclusion criteria in this study were: full-text, peer review, English, articles for the last five years, subject: nursing, nurses, emergency medical care, nursing care, emergency services, and document type: articles. Based on the search database, 10,496 papers were obtained, 733 documents that matched the inclusion criteria and seven papers that fit the theme were obtained. The result that based on the initial stage of the literature search, four interventions were adequate, including ACLS training, multidisciplinary management, making coloured ribbons for premature pregnancy detection, and maternal near-miss detection tools. Interventions with less effective based on statistical test results were supportive care, home visits with IPV (intimate partner violence) interventions, and administration of CPR, defibrillation, ETT insertion, and administration of epinephrine. Nurses still carry out a few emergency developmental interventions. It is necessary to develop engagement interventions related to maternal emergencies to improve the welfare of mothers and babies. Further study is needed to strengthen the evidence base of innovative interventions for specific obstetric emergencies.
