Abstract

This study investigates the effect of proactive personality on career adaptability. A conceptual model is developed to examine the impact of proactive personality on career adaptability, mediated by goal orientation and self-esteem, among Gen Z entrepreneurs in an emerging economy. Data collected from 581 active entrepreneurs in Indonesia were analysed to test the hypothesised relationships. The psychometric properties of the survey instrument were tested using partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM), and the hypotheses were subsequently tested using a bootstrapping procedure. The results indicate that (a) proactive personality is a significant predictor of both goal orientation and self-esteem, and (b) that both goal orientation and self-esteem significantly mediate the relationship between proactive personality and career adaptability. This study also found that occupational prestige acts as a significant antecedent to both proactive personality and goal orientation. This research has several theoretical and practical implications for academics, policymakers, and entrepreneurship support organisations in emerging economies. This research provides detailed insights into the psychological antecedents of entrepreneurial career sustainability and guides academics and support institutions in shaping the development of young entrepreneurs

Abstract

The impact of social media marketing on consumers’ buying behavior in the retail, hospitality, fashion, and technology industries was examined through this study. The feedback gathered from 500 existing social media users. It explores the effects of brand trust, eWOM, personalization, and consumer engagement on the purchase intention. The purchase intentions, loyalty, and buying behaviour is affected by all   Statistical analysis of the survey using stratified sampling shows a positive effect of every factor on all industries which is statistically significant. As per insights that are encountered at an industry level, trust and engagement have the most impact in fashion, personalization spurs loyalty in hospitality and retail and credibility matters most in technology. According to the study, marketers will have to customize their digital marketing strategies as per the expectations of consumers in their industry. At the same time, their reliability and peer recommendations and personalized communication impact their consumer behaviour uniformly. Recommendations from practitioners include adapting campaign strategies to the characteristics of an industry, focusing on authentic engagement, and remaining transparent in messages. In this paper we aim at shedding some academic and practical light on the role social media play in consumer decision-making from a cross-industry perspective.

Abstract

This research explores how electronic commerce influences the sales results of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) throughout Indonesia, focusing on how customer contentment acts as an intermediary and how adapting to technology serves as a moderator. This study aims to analyses the influence of e-commerce on MSME sales performance by examining the mediation of customer satisfaction and the moderation of technology adaptation. This study used a correlational design with a quantitative approach. Information was gathered at random from a collection of 366 Indonesian MSMEs that were actively transacting through electronic platforms. The information was processed employing structural equation modeling using partial least squares method. The outcomes pointed out that embracing e-commerce had a noteworthy effect on the sales achievements of MSMEs, in which customer contentment functioned as a vital intermediary aspect. The drawbacks of this research encompass the utilization of data captured at a single point in time, which might not precisely mirror trends that happen over time, along with the restricted ability to expand the research's findings due to the small number of MSMEs examined in Indonesia.

Abstract

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) in tourism is linked to poverty alleviation, yet outcomes vary widely. This study investigates how operational efficiency influences poverty alleviation in tourism-based CSR and examines the mediating role of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) implementation. The research integrates Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to evaluate 87 tourism-related CSR programs in Indonesia, supported by survey data from 285 stakeholders. DEA results show moderate technical efficiency (average 78.34%) with scale inefficiencies; 43.7% of programs operate under increasing returns to scale. PLS-SEM indicates that operational efficiency positively affects poverty alleviation, with SDG implementation mediating 36.4–39.2% of this relationship. The efficiency–outcome link is strongest for programs under increasing returns to scale. Findings suggest that aligning CSR efficiency with appropriate scale configurations and SDG integration enhances poverty reduction. This study offers a replicable framework for assessing CSR performance and practical insights for optimizing tourism-based CSR initiatives.

Abstract

This study resolves this long-standing puzzle by identifying firm size as a critical boundary condition for dividend signaling effectiveness. Analyzing Indonesian manufacturing companies during 2019-2023 using Moderated Regression Analysis, we uncover three key findings. First, dividend policy powerfully enhances firm value, confirming that dividends serve as credible signals of managerial confidence in emerging markets. Second, profitability remains a universal value driver regardless of firm characteristics. Third, and most critically, firm size substantially amplifies the dividend-value relationship: large firms' dividend announcements generate significantly stronger market responses than identical signals from smaller counterparts. The underlying mechanism is visibility larger firms command greater analyst coverage, institutional investor attention, and media scrutiny, enabling their signals to reach broader, more sophisticated audiences capable of accurately decoding dividend implications. Conversely, smaller firms' signals may go unnoticed or be discounted due to limited information dissemination channels. Debt policy shows no systematic value impact, challenging trade-off theory's universal applicability in emerging market contexts. These findings extend signaling theory by establishing firm size as a boundary condition and offer immediate practical implications: corporate managers must calibrate dividend policies according to firm visibility, while investors should incorporate firm size when interpreting dividend announcements

Abstract

Online complaint handling has become a critical aspect of digital service recovery as firms increasingly use artificial intelligence to manage customer communication. However, customers may evaluate AI-generated responses differently from humanized responses, particularly when service failures require empathy, sincerity, and relational repair. This study examines how response personalization and response type influence customer forgiveness in online complaint contexts and investigates whether perceived empathy mediates these relationships. A scenario-based experiment was conducted using a 2 × 2 between-subjects design that manipulated response personalization, consisting of humanized versus AI-generated responses, and response type, consisting of accommodative versus defensive responses. Data were collected from 342 participants and analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. The results show that humanized responses generate higher perceived empathy than AI-generated responses, while accommodative responses produce higher perceived empathy than defensive responses. Perceived empathy significantly increases customer forgiveness and partially mediates the effects of response personalization and response type on forgiveness. These findings indicate that effective digital service recovery depends not only on what firms communicate but also on who is perceived to deliver the response. The study contributes to service recovery literature by demonstrating that empathy is a key psychological mechanism through which humanized and accommodative responses repair damaged customer relationships in increasingly automated service environments. The findings suggest that firms should balance the efficiency of AI-based complaint handling with the relational authenticity provided by human involvement.
