Abstract

Introduction: Indonesian Ministry of Health Research (2017) stated that since 2000 the percentage of older people is above 7%and predicts that the population of Indonesian seniors will continue to increase. The elderly will undergo a gradual decline in physical and mental capacities, one of which is a decrease in lumbar joints flexibility. It can be prevented by exercising. One of the suitable exercise that can be done is yoga. Purpose: To analyze the flexibility of lumbar joints in the elderly before and after yoga exercises. Method: this study is a pre-experimental study with one group pretest-posttest design approach. The sampling techniques used in this research was non-probability sampling method i.e., purposive sampling with a sample of 35 people. Elderly flexibility was measured  using the sit and reach test scale. Result: The flexibility of lumbar joints in thirty-five elderly as subjects before yoga on the first day and after the yoga on the last daywas measured using a meter band, and the result showed 27 older people with increased flexibility, six older people with decreased, and two people who have no change. The Results obtained a significant difference between before and after the yoga exercise program (P = 0.00).Conclusion: There is a difference in the flexibility of lumbar joints before and after yogagymnastics in the elderly at Integrated Health Center (Pos Pelayanan Terpadu in Indonesianor Posyandu) Yuswo Widodo Surabaya, with better flexibility after yoga exercise. Thisfavorable condition might minimize the probability risk of musculoskeletal injury.

Abstract

Introduction: With increasing age, the elderly is more vulnerable to various physical disorders. One of them is a decrease in respiratory system function due to decreased respiratory muscle mass. Tai Chi training can be used as a health facility to maintain an excellent respiratory system. Purpose: Find out the difference between peak expiration flow prediction values in the elderly who do and do not participate in Tai Chi training. Method: This research used an observational analytic method with a cross-sectional design and used purposive sampling technique. The sample of this research was the elderly aged 6075 years who meet the inclusion criteria APE measurements were carried out three times, and the  highest value was taken. Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test with a computer program. Results: The data showed that APE value in the elderly who participated in Tai Chi training was 319.3 ± 91.42 while the elderly who did not take Tai Chi training was 265.6 ± 67.04. Statistical test results showed significant difference Conclusion: Based on Mann Whitney's statistical calculations, it can be seen that the significance value or p-value is 0.036 <0.05. It means that there is a significant difference in the average predicted value of peak  expiratory flow between elderly who take Tai Chi training with elderly who do not take Tai Chi training, where APE in the elderly who practice Tai Chi is greater than the elderly who do not practice Tai Chi.

Abstract

Introduction: Indonesian Ministry of Health published Basic Health Research stated that the incidence of stress in Indonesia increased between 2013 and 2018. Untreated stress is a riskfactor for suicide and can cause the onset of depression. Stress associated with cortisol, thishormone has many functions in our body, such as increasing blood sugar levels, reducinginflammation, and suppressing the immune system  One of the essential oils commonly used is English Lavender (Lavandula angustifolia). The lavender essential oil has many benefits, such as reduce anxiety, relieve pain, improve sleep quality, bactericidal, and repellent Purpose: This study aims to research the effectiveness of 10% and 30% lavender essential oil balm on serum cortisol levels in rats given stressor.  Method: This study used 37 male rats randomly divided into four groups: negative control, positive control, 10% lavender balm, and 30% lavender balm. The forced swim test was given as the stressor every day for ten days, 20 days, and 30 days. The lavender oil balm was pplied to the back after the forced swim test. ELISA Kit measured the serum cortisol levels. Results: The results showed that 10% lavender essential oil balm significantly (p=0.007 and p=0.041) decreased serum cortisol levels compared to negative control and positive control group. However, there was no statistically significant difference in serum cortisol levels in the 30% lavender essential oil group. Furthermore, there was no significant difference in serum cortisol levels between 10 days, 20 days, and 30 days of the 10% and 30% lavender essential oil balm.   Conclusion: The effectiveness of lavender essential oil balm to decrease the serum cortisol levels depends on the concentration and not depending on the duration of administration. 10% lavender essential oil balm lowers the serum cortisol levels more than 30% lavender ssential oil balm.

Abstract

Background: The number of people with mental health problems is still high in the world, especially depression. This incident is triggered by the stress of each individual on anongoing basis and failure to adapt. Stress regulation is a preventive measure to preventdepression in individuals. Currently, there are many developing uses of essential oils as antistress relaxation therapy. Vetiver essential oil is believed to reduce stress levels. Purpose: This study aimed to determine the effect of using vetiver essential oil with different concentrations and administration periods on changes in cortisol levels. Methods: This study used Rattus norvegicus experimental animals with the Forced Swim Test (FST) as a stressor. Vetiver essential oil concentrations of 10% and 30% were administered with the essential oil preparation given after giving stressor. Stress level in experimental animals was measured from the hormone cortisol in the blood. The method of measuring cortisol in experimental animals was carried out using the Enzyme-Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay (ELISA) method. Results: This study obtained significant results from the Kruskal Wallis statistical test ondecreasing cortisol levels in experimental animals by administering vetiver essential oil with10% concentration. Changes in the cortisol hormone in experimental animals and cortisollevels were not affected by the length of time of administration.

Abstract

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), which is caused by the SARS Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), has affected over 200 countries worldwide. First case of COVID-19 wasfound in Wuhan, China, precisely around December 2019. COVID-19, especially in thosewith underlying health conditions or comorbidities, has an increasingly rapid and severeprogression, often leading to death. This virus is a single-strand RNA coronavirus, binding the angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor which enters human cells. Coronavirusdisease has been reported to affect cardiac and vascular organs. cardiomyocyte death andinflammation are results of a direct mechanism that involves viral infiltration into myocardialtissue. Some cardiovascular manifestations of myocardial injuries associated with COVID-19are arrhythmias, myocardial infarction, heart failure, and elevated biomarkers (cardiactroponin I and brain-type natriuretic peptide). Some of this manifestation requires immediate intervention or surgery. Criteria are needed for hospitals or institutions that mostly maintain cardiac surgery services and surgery-urgent patients depending on severity of the disease and hospital resources. These criteria also limit the risk of exposure to patients and healthcare workers and allocate resources appropriately to those in greatest need. This paper aims to share our discussion and give an overview of patients undergoing cardiac surgery, providing clinicians with recommendations to triage and plan these procedures during the COVID-19 outbreak effectively.

Abstract

Introduction: Immunization in the national health system is one form of health protection that is very effective in preventing infant and under-five mortality rates. Children who are notimmunized do not have immunity against the disease, so they will fall ill, possibly causing adecline in nutritional status. Infectious diseases and immune functions are interconnected and will ultimately affect the nutritional status in children. Purpose: To determine the correlation between immunization status and nutritional status of children under five in the Health Center Community or Pusat Kesehatan Masyarakat in Indonesian (Puskesmas) in Gresik Regency, East Java. Method: This study used an observational analytic research method with a cross-sectional research design. The samples of this research are toddlers aged 1-5 years old and mothers who have MCH books. The study was conducted by collecting data using a questionnaire to be filled out by mothers of children under five. Then, the researchers collected data by recording the immunization status of children under five by looking at the MCH book. Then, we measured the body weight and height of the toddler. Results: Based on the results of statistical calculations using the chi-square test regarding the analysis of the relationship between immunization status and nutritional status of children under five obtained a significance value of p = 0.220: p≥0.05 (value α). Conclusion: There was no significant relationship between immunization status and nutritional status of children under five years old in the Puskesmas Kedamean in GresikRegency
