Abstract

This study intended to know the description of stress coping strategies of 12th grade students of Jakarta 42 State Senior High School in facing National Exam. This study stems from the interest of researchers towards the number of cases of high school students who do not pass the National Exam. Researchers seek to impart knowledge to students on how to cope with their stress effectively and to the school and parents for providing the proper approach for students to face the National Exam. This study is a quantitative study using questionnaires as a measurement to know the description of stress coping strategies of Jakarta 42 State Senior High School students. Research instruments are compiled based on the theory developed by Lahey. In this research, obtained results that the class XII students of SMAN 42 Jakarta have a more predominant use of effective coping to cope with their stress in facing the National Exam. The most widely used strategy is removing stress and managing stress reaction

Abstract

Packaging vague identity, is the packaging that does not give clear information about the contents of the packed product, in this case are specific to the product needs of the household / consumer products, often everyday, more obvious when you're shopping at the supermarket, sensation very stunning visual eye, the colors, images and shapes capable of stopping the views of prospective consumers in packaging that 'teasing', it was due to good aesthetic qualities, but in reality many packaging designs negligent in giving the perception of 'immediately' to the identity of the contents of the packed product , this issue becomes crucial because it can be misleading or wrong perception of users, by taking random samples of products circulating in the community, trying to describe and analyze a simple through the principle of Visual Communication Design, hoping the result will remind the designers more aware of packaging labels will set out the communication function in media packaging, to provide specific information with respect to visual hierarchy to yield a clear identity of the product packaged.

Abstract

Relief printing is the most demanding printing until now. Through the linocut, it can produced interesting artwork of relief printing. Besides the processing was easy and simple, this printing technique is easy to be understood in a relatively short time. The most important thing in relief printing is perseverance, accuration, and creativity. It can also bring forward the expression through the resulting work of printmaking, so that the relief printing becomes an alternative media to convey the message. By the relatively low cost, anyone could begin to learn this printing technique. Almost the whole working process was done manually, with a drop of equipment. Starting from the process of image planning, cutting process, until the printing process, all of these phases could be done without the support of developing technologies. Many opinions said that the rapidly developing technologies make the work easier, but instead several aesthetics value could not be achieved by sophisticated technology.

Abstract

Typography is one of the elements design, which can make children learn it as an image or as text. Article explores the impacts of typography for childrens. For children’s interest we have to make the experiment visual with a big fun expression. The fact is the shape of typography can’t be changed, that’s why we have to know how to change them and get another expression to another form. With the fun experimental typography we can make one of edutainment kit books for the children.

Abstract

Developing graphic design business needs promotion materials, some of them are newsletter, business card, Credit Line, and protofolio. Article explores the strategy of making newsletter, how to make business card to be professional, how to get the credit line, and how to make a portofolio, and what media that is able to clearly clarify the portofolio. It is concluded that people need extra ordinary creativity to achieve a successful in graphic design business.

Abstract

Article described the growth of advertisement in Indonesia that is quite rapid and its’ impacts on the social classes. Advertisement’s rapid growth was evidenced by the relatively high increase in expenditure, i.e. up to 13 percent. If calculated to October 2009, the total advertising expenditure Indonesia had reached 40 trillion IDR. Advertising was often considered as a cause of increased consumptive lifestyles in society. In addition, advertising was considered to be responsible in creating social classes in society. Therefore, article would like to discuss how these ads can distinguish groups of people with communication conducted in an advertisement.

Abstract

Article is an outcome from writer’s reflection from his reading on Homo Sacer, Sovereign Power and Bare Life, a book by Giorgio Agamben, an Italian 20th century philosopher. The reading concerns with the three chapters which are Homo Sacer, The Ambivalence of The Sacred, and The Sacred Life, and also the preface of chapters. Generally, this article proposes two main things. First, Agamben’s description on Western modern political practice, developed from the Greek until today. Second, writer’s reflection on educational system in Indonesia, especially the higher education level in nowadays, through Agamben’s perspective. Structurally, article is divided into three parts. First, the Preface, is a general view to Agamben’s political thought which will stand as a background to the second part from this article, Homo Sacer. On the third part, Education as Bare Life, is writer’s reflection on higher education system in Indonesia borrowing the political perspectives from Agamben.

Abstract

The inserting power of a message into the minds of recipients can be done through various stages of processing and filters contained in each individual recipient. It is a distinctive strength when designers can learn the process so that designing a work of visual design can be conveyed with both in the minds of society ast targets and generate action / feedback is expected. Article analysis the process of how a message in a media was able to convey the reader or viewers. The research was done by doing library research. It can be concluded that feeling, thinking, and actioning are process that influence people in understanding a message in a media.

Abstract

Article explored many functions of Public Relations (PR). It is one department in an organization that is responsible for matters relating to community relations and has responsibility for the company image. PR is also responsible for inter-departmental relationships that exist within the organization. So, not only outward, but inward. PR bridges all the problems that occur between departments. In maintaining and improving the quality of image, PR will create a lot of programs to promote the company to the center of the community. The essence of PR must prepare and obtain more data concerning these trends through surveys, research, and observation in the intensive and continuous. The function of PR is essential in every point of planning and corporate development. PR should know the effects of packaging a product that will be offered to customers which will become regular customers of these products. In fact, a PR should be able to maintain such image what would happen if the packaging is yellow and what effect if replaced by a red color.

Abstract

Cellular phone or mobile phone is a telecommunication device extremely consumed by all levels of society in Indonesia. Article presents a reality that mobile phone is not only communication devices. The presentation begins with the history of cell phones, both globally and also by the time of entering and growing in Indonesia. Then will also be discussed whether cell phones are being used properly according to their purpose and benefit by the Indonesian users. Moreover, whether cell phones can be the symbol of the users. Research method used in this paper is literature study, continued with reflective data analysis. It can be concluded that a more comprehensive picture of cultural development in society as a result of cell phones growth in Indonesia will be obtained. (DW)
