Abstract

This article explores algorithmic design methods in a design process that uses natural phenomena as the basis of its architectural morphology. It implements digital morphogenesis in reaction to ecology and the influential forces of the building environment. This paper is divided into two equally important sections: the process description and the project implementation. The description of the process demonstrates the methods used and the idea involved in incorporating nature’s influential elements as part of the creative task. Meanwhile, the project implementation showed practical case of the outcome of that process. Tools for visualizing and simulating nature’s environment are showed using algorithmic design method. The tools create transformations in NURBS-based surfaces through the translation of their respective control point matrices. The tools generate several different alternatives to be tested and analyzed.

Abstract

Online learning has become a way to improve efficiency in the learning process without reducing the quality of learning itself. Colleges that run it hope that the program becomes an attraction for prospective students, especially those with limitation to follow the regular program. The goal of this research was to find out whether Binus Online Learning Program has any influence to the competitive advantage of Binus University. Data were compiled by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents consist of the students and lecturers on Binus Online Learning Program. This thesis is based on a quantitative methodology to gather and analyze the data to find out if they were any correlation between Online Learning Program and the competitive advantage of Binus University. It can be concluded that there are some positive and significant influences of Online Learning Program to the competitive advantage of Binus University. Therefore, promoting and developing Online Learning Program will increase the competitive advantage of Binus University, and cover the target market which regular programs do not.

Abstract

This study aims to to perform database application development system on purchasing, sales and inventory of PT. Speed Game, a company that applies manual database system. The company often faces difficulties in obtaining and processing data information about purchasing, sales and inventory that may affect the employee performance. Therefore, to facilitate the company in processing data and produce information quickly, precisely and accurately, a development of database application system is build using database lifecycle method. The result achieved is a database application system of purchasing, sales and inventory that will facilitate the company in running its business processes. It can be concluded that the development of database application system is necessary to help the company accelerate and simplify the obtaining information process and as well as store and retrieve any information needed.

Abstract

The presence of a building, whether large or small, brings impacts on the environment. Residential houses, commercial buildings, office buildings or flats have both positive and negative impacts. This research aims to determine the changing function and utilization patterns of open green spaces in the some areas around a flat into built spaces. Rumah susun Bendungan Hilir 1 is purposively selected as the study site. The research method uses a descriptive survey is to make direct field observations. Based on the results it is showed that there is a land use change, especially in some areas directly adjacent to the flats, and a deviation on Spatial Plan as well as on the open space.

Abstract

Today a lot of companies use information system in every business activity. Every transaction is stored electronically in the database transaction. The transactional database does not help much to assist the executives in making strategic decisions to improve the company competitiveness. The objective of this research is to analyze the operational database system and the information needed by the management to design a data warehouse model which fits the executive information needs in PT. S. The research method uses the Nine-Step Methodology data warehouse design by Ralph Kimball. The result is a data warehouse featuring business intelligence applications to display information of historical data in tables, graphs, pivot tables, and dashboards and has several points of view for the management. This research concludes that a data warehouse which combines multiple database transactions with business intelligence application can help executives to understand the reports in order to accelerate decision-making processes.

Abstract

Use of the Internet has become a part of business activities, one of which is marketing via the Internet. Marketing is an activity that determines a company’s success. A web-based marketing can eliminate the existing limitations of conventional marketing such as time constraints and distance. Therefore, through this paper is proposed the development of marketing via the internet, or commonly known as e-marketing, so that the company can obtain maximum benefits as expected. The methodology used in the development of e-marketing website is The Seven Stage Cycle of Internet Marketing. The result achieved is a company’s e-marketing website. Conclusions obtained is that by using a web-based marketing, it is expected to help companies overcome the existing deficiencies, and can provide added value in improving promotions to better introduce the company to the market as well as to achieve profit increase.

Abstract

This article discusses about the influence of sinusoidal sandbars towards the amplitude of incident wave. sinusoidal sandbars may lead to Bragg resonance. Basically, when a wave meets a different depth, it will scatter into a transmitted wave and a reflected wave. Bragg resonance happens when the wavelength of incident wave is twice of the wavelength of the periodic bottom disturbance. We apply the multi-scale asymptotic expansion to obtain the results. Eventually we find that a larger amplitude disturbance leads to larger reflected wave amplitude. This result explains that the sinusoidal sandbars indeed can reduce the amplitude of incident wave and protect a beach from large amplitude incident waves.

Abstract

Multicolinear is a case that occurs in multi-linear regression analysis. Using multicolinear, it will be difficult to separate the influence of each independent variable towards the response variables. It also occurs in a farm production like cabbage. To solve this problem, Ridge regression method is used. This research aims to obtain a Ridge regression model to solve the multicolinear case. By using this method, the alleged regression coefficient is obtained by variance inflation factor less than ten for six free variables.

Abstract

Stochastic process has an important role in many areas in everyday life, including the customer service process. The number of customers who come to a service center will be different for each particular time. A special form of stochastic process with continuous time and discrete state space is periodic Poisson process, which is a Poisson process with an intensity function of a periodic function. However, on the stochastic modeling of a phenomenon by a periodic Poisson process, the intensity function of the process is generally unknown. Therefore, a method is needed to infer the function. In this article, a Kernel estimator is formulated from a periodic Poisson process with a trend component in a rank function, which is divided into two cases; the identified rank function coefficient and the unidentified rank function coefficient.

Abstract

Communication via wireless devices provides many benefits to companies and users, such as portability and flexibility, productivity improvement, and low installation fee. Wireless technology covers a variety of abilities on use and needs. A WLAN device as an example allows users to get mobile from a place to another without wires attached and connection loss. Wirelesss means more flexible, more efficient, and cost reduced. Adhoc network such as Bluetooth allows for data synchronization with network system and sharing application among devices. Bluetooth functions to diminish wires for printers and other supporting devices. Portable devices such as PDA and cell phone allow remote users to synchronize personal databases and provide accesses to email, browsing, and internet access. Thus, security risks are very influential on wireless network. Some of the risks are almost the same as the wired network, few are derived from other cable networks and some others are new.
