Abstract

This article discusses several paradigms used in developing computer programs which is varied from the classical – goto programming, until the modern one – object oriented programming. In addition, the main features of each paradigm, the advantages and disadvantages of each paradigm and the comparation of procedural programming, the object oriented programming, and an additional feature like generic programming for the object oriented programming are also discussed in this article.

Abstract

Content base image retrieval (CBIR) is the concept of image retrieval by comparing the existing image on the sample to that of the database (query by example). CBIR process based on color is carried out using adaptive color histogram concept, while one based on shape is performed using moment concept. Following up the process results, a sorting process is done based on a threshold value of the sample image through the utilization threshold algorithm. The image displayed is be sorted from the one that is nearly similar to the query image (example) to the resemblance of the lowest (aggregation value). The threshold value of the query image used as reference is compared with the aggregation value of the image database. If the comparison in the search for similarities by using the concept of fuzzy logic approaches 1, the comparison between the threshold value and the aggregation value is almost the same. Otherwise, if it reaches 0, the comparison results in a lot of differences.

Abstract

By utilizing the augmented reality technology which now develops well, a card game system design and the game prototype are created on through this study Android-based Smartphone. This study is expected to increase the children’s interest to play cards in a modern way, to be utilized as a reference material for business actors in the world, and to be an alternative facility for marketing officers to market their products. The scope of this study is limited only to the system design and the prototype making of the game. The combination of waterfall methodology and a game design by Jesse is used in this study. From the results of the study it is concluded that the augmented reality technology is able to make the game more interesting.

Abstract

Computer graphics is a science widely used in any areas. Its up-to-date technique is applied to solve image problems related to needs of customer and decision-making. Images can be analyzed so as produce good form which its accuracy is still under researches using CAD and CAM. This study aims to associate algorithm Hermite, Bezier, B-Spline on its harmony function by creating a proper image to a form that can be used in drawing engineering for decision making. This study produces an adequate algorithm for image design.

Abstract

Designing car audio that fits user’s needs is a fun activity. However, the design often consumes more time and costly since it should be consulted to the experts several times. For easy access to information in designing a car audio system as well as error prevention, an car audio system based on expert system and web is designed for those who do not have sufficient time and expense to consult directly to experts. This system consists of tutorial modules designed using the HyperText Preprocessor (PHP) and MySQL as database. This car audio system design is evaluated uses black box testing method which focuses on the functional needs of the application. Tests are performed by providing inputs and produce outputs corresponding to the function of each module. The test results prove the correspondence between input and output, which means that the program meet the initial goals of the design.

Abstract

Insufficient electricity supply in Java, Indonesia, has become an critical problem to be dealt by the goverment. One solution campaigned by the government is using electricity effectively by turning off unused devices that waste electricity. To make this action as a routine needs a reminder that can help remind people continually. One example of a reminder is an automatic static sensor which is already applied in some places. Dynamic sensor is one of best method to save energy because it can warn the user to turn off unused lamps. Dynamic sensor is also called moving sensor because it is able to move from a place to another and has a wide service area. This study gives information about the use of moving sensor in some areas in order to save electricity energy. As a pilot project, the use of moving sensor needs to be improved by a further study.

Abstract

Various constraints related to the availability of up-to-date information services and product sales happen to ProPoster Indonesia, a business of digital printing and display services system run since 2002. ProPoster Indonesia needs to offer an easy access to services and online service sales of printing products to its customers and plans to expand its business services throughout Indonesia. These conditions initiate the development of web-based service and products sales system for ProPoster Indonesia. The main objectives are to overcome the difficulties in obtaining the latest information related to services and products and facilitate promotional printing services to all parts of Indonesia. The sequential linear process model is used to develop the overall system while literature study is done to enrich the insight to develop a better system. The user friendly system makes easy for customers to get the latest information that ultimately facilitate the service process and product sales.

Abstract

English proficiency can be measured through several tests that are recognized internationally like TOEFL. To measure the English proficiency of ‘Binusians’ with TOEFL standards and provide rapid and credible test results, an program design of online English test application (ATBIO) is created by displaying a random question, in which every examinee gets different questions. Prior to the design, first performed profile analysis of the questions in the TOEFL test held by Binus University Language Center. Following is the design of the program using standard UML 2.0 notation. Furthermore, the author submitted the draft to be built by the program developers using java script or ASP. With credible, fast and accurate results of ATBIO, it is expected that people, departments or organizations concerned with these test results can immediately make decisions and take necessary actions.

Abstract

This research aims to help universities that do not have an academic information system and facilitate EPSBED data report to Directorate of Higher Education (DHE). The method used is the three first stages in the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), which are systems engineering, requirements analysis, and design system. The result is a design of university business process, design of database, and design of user interface. This research finds that DHE has a specific data structure that can represent the basic activities of a study program. Therefore, this system design can be used for reporting of EPSBED data as well as for data collection of study program activities.

Abstract

Companies that have many applications always deal with application integration problems. For the of company necessity, they often yearn for information that an application can be used by other applications. Often a small portion of data from another application is needed in order to complete and support other business functions. They require an architectural approach that can bridge the information between applications. SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) offers manufacturing services around existing business functions. Applications that wish to communicate with other applications can use the services to achieve business goals. This article will discuss recommendations and tips for implementing SOA best practices in banking.
