Abstract

Pathogenic bacterial resistance to antibacterial agents used in the treatment of recent formal systems have undergone significant increase. It is necessary to get a source of new antibacterial agents to overcome resistance. Endophytic fungi have been known as one of the organisms that have the ability to produce a variety of bioactive metabolites. In this study, 26 endophytic fungi have been isolated from various parts of Cinnamomum burmannii plant. The results of antibacterial activity screening of endophytic fungal extracts byTLC bioautography method without elution showed that as many as 18 extracts inhibited the growth of Staphylococcus aureus InaCC-B4 with the diameter of inhibition zone (DIZ) were in the range of 5.00 to 16.00 mm. On the other hand, the number of extracts that could inhibit the growth of Escherichia coli InaCC-B5 were 24 extracts with the DIZ were in the range of 4.00 to 28.00 mm. A detailed analysis of eluted TLC-bioautography method showed the chemical compounds of extracts that were responsible for antibacterial activity.

Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the effect of dilution towards milk liquid waste in biologically producing hydrogen gas by photosynthetic bacteria, Rhodobium marinum. The methods included pretreatments of the milk liquid waste by sterilization, filtration, neutralization, and centrifugation, before and after dilution. From several experiments, 100% of milk liquid waste substrate generated the highest hydrogen gas production up to 93.45 16.15 ml, but the highest efficiency was obtained at level 12.5% of milk liquid waste substrate which valued 0.33 mol hydrogen/ mol glucose consumed. Kinetics measurements for hydrogen production process in milk liquid waste which was added with nutrients obtained yield of biomass formed per substrate consumed (Yx/s) i.e. 0.192 g/g, yield of product per substrate (Yp/s) i.e. 0.009 g/g, and yield of product produced per biomass (Yp/x) i.e. 0.043 g/g. For kinetics measurements on the milk liquid waste medium without nutrients addition, obtained Yx/s was 0.261 g / g, Yp/s was 0.019 g/g and Yp/x was 0.070 g/g

Abstract

The environment-induced cracking (EIC) behavior of Ni3(Si,Ti) intermetallic compound was investigated as the function of applied stress, test temperature, and chloride-ion concentration in NaCl solution using a constant load method. From the applied stress dependence of the three parameters ( tf, lss and tss/tf ), the relationships were found to be divided into three regions: stress, EIC, and corrosion dominated regions. The ratio of tss/tf in the EICdominated region was independent constant of applied stress, test temperature, and chloride-ion concentration. Furthermore, the relationship between log tf and log lss in the EIC-dominated region became a good straight line, irrespective of applied stress, test temperature, and chloride-ion concentration. The fracture appearance in the EIC dominated region was intergranular. On the basis of the results obtained, an intergranular EIC was supposed to be influenced by hydrogen entry, dissolution, and film formation.

Abstract

In this paper, a preserve work on the ability of cerium dioxide nanoparticles (CeO2-NPs) to remove acid orange-10 (AO-10) dye from aqueous solution by adsorption, focusing on the study of the kinetic of AO-10 dye adsorption onto CeO2-NPs surface, was reported. The kinetic data obtained at different concentration of AO-10 dye were analyzed using three different kinetic models, including pseudo-first order, pseudo-second order, and Elovich model. The result showed that the kinetic data fitted with the pseudo-second order kinetic model. Based on the adsorption mechanism data obtained through intraparticle diffusion evaluation, it was found that the adsorption of AO-10 dye onto CeO2-NPs was controlled by the mass transfer rate of the adsorbate molecule from outer to innerof the adsorbent particle. Thus, considering both previous and present studies, it can be suggested that the CeO2-NP appears to be a good adsorbent for the removal of AO-10 dye from aqueous solutions.

Abstract

Axial flux generator that consists of two rotors and one stator has been engineered. The rotor consists of eightimported NdFeB permanent magnets with 6 x 4 x 0.7 cm dimension and remanant (Br) 1.1 Tesla. The stator with 300 mm diameter consists of a spoils with 80 mm diameter with 400 coils, and the diameter of copper wire is 0.5mm, while the number of the spoil is varied. In this paper, the design and analysis for generator model has been done using 3DS MAX 2014 and Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 Express software, so that the right number of spoils in producing the optimal out put voltage (Erms) is obtained. From the experiment and simulation of axial flux permanent magnet (AFPM) generator, it has been obtained that there is correlation between the rotational speed (Vr in rpm) and the frequency and the voltage (Erms), which are given by equations i.e. frequency = 0.0667 Vr - 0.0001 and Erms = 0.4027 Vr + 3.2619, repectively. Meanwhile, the relation of the rotational speed and the number of spoils (Ns) to the outout voltage (Erms) is given by Erms = 0.0695 Ns Vr.
