Abstract

Romaita Newanti Lumban Raja & Alex Hartana. 2017. Morphologycal Variation of Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium) in North Sumatra. Floribunda 5(7): 258–266. — Andaliman plants (Zantoxylum acanthopodium DC.) found in North Sumatra, Indonesia, and known as seasoning plants  or 'merica Batak’  in Batak dishes. This study was conducted to explore the diversity of andaliman plants in North Sumatra.  27  andaliman plants collected and  analyzed  based on  their 24 morphological characters of stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, and seeds  using  unweighted pair group method with arithmatic average (UPGMA) and clustered  based on similarity for qualitative data (SIMQUAL) and coefficient simple matching, using NTSYS pc. 2.02 version. The phenetic analysis showed dendrograme of 27 andaliman plants in North Sumatra were clustered into 4 groups. The main characters differentiate each group are the color of young branches, thorns on leaf  midrib, the color of calyx, and the color of  fruit. The group I  and II in dendrograme refer  to local cultivar names ‘Simanuk’ and ‘Sihorbo’, while the group III and IV refer to ‘Silokot’ and ‘Sikoreng’ cultivars. An identification key for  the four andaliman cultivars is presented. Keywords: Andaliman, Character, Clustering, North Sumatra, Morphology, Zantoxylum acanthopodium.  Romaita Newanti Lumban Raja & Alex Hartana. 2017. Variasi Morfologi Andaliman (Zanthoxylum acanthopodium) di Sumatra  Utara. Floribunda 5(7): 258–266.

Abstract

A first study of Frullania in Bali indicate that seven species can be recognized. They are F. gaudichaudii (Nees & Mont.) Nees & Mont., F. gracilis (Reinw., Blume & Nees) Dumort., F. junghuhniana Gottsche., F. meyeniana Lindenb., F. moniliata (Reinw., Blume & Nees) Mont., F. ornithocephala (Reinw. et al.) Nees and F. ternatensis Gottsche. Figure of Frullania moniliata are presented. Notes on description to the genus, key to the species, diagnostic characters, as well as distribution of the species are given.

Abstract

The family of Ericaceae in Sulawesi is represented by four genera namely Diplycosia Blume, Gaultheria L., Rhododendron L. and Vaccinium L. The inventory number of species family Ericaceae in Latimojong Range was conducted based on field collections and herbarium study in Herbarium Bogoriense. Thirty species and two varieties are recognized consist of 4 of Diplycosia, 3 of Gaultheria, 19 of Rhododendron and 6 of Vaccinium. Twenty seven species and two variety are endemic to Sulawesi while 17 of it endemic for Latimojong Range. High endemicity of species Ericaceae in Latimojong Range will need more concern and protection as a conservation site.

Abstract

Sudarmono & Hiroshi Okada. 2011. Genetic variation of Salvia japonica Thunb. (Lamiaceae) and Its Related Species. Floribunda 4(2): 33–39. — Genetic variation between populations of Salvia japonica Thunb. (widely distributed species) and its genetic relationships to relative species (Lamiaceae) were analyzed using allozyme polymorphisms. The fact that all of 12 loci analyzed were polymorphic indicated high genetic variations in S. japonica. Mean of polymorphic loci (P%), mean number of alleles per locus (A), and expectedheterozygosity (He) compared to related Salvia species as well as out-crossing species were highly indicating genetic differentiation between populations. Total genetic diversity (HT = 0.469) majority partitioned within populations and genetic structure which possibly affected by protandry and almost selfincompatible, outcrossing features in S. japonica. Low gene flow (Nm = 0.268) was might be resulted from the movement of pollinators and effect of genetic drift on small, widely scatterred, isolated populations of S. japonica. UPGMA cluster analysis using Nei‘s genetic distance indicated that S. japonica has close genetic relation with S. isensis and S. lutescens.
