Abstract

Previous techniques of elevator controllers suffer from two main challenges: processing time, and software size. In this work these challenges have been overcame by implementing a controller random access memory (RAM) in a fast FPGA for a proto-type of two-floors elevator, as known the RAM and FPGA are fast devices. A look-up-table LUT (which is fast technique) has been proposed for this work, this LUT has represented a proposed relation between 10 and 7 lines, the states of the sensors and switches have been represented by the 10 input lines, and the commands for the motors of slide door and traction machine have been represented by the 7 output lines. The proposed LUT has been schematically realize by a (10×7) bits RAM which has been implemented in field programmable gate arrays (FPGA). The proposed system has been performed using 'ISE Design Suit' software package and FPGA Spartan6 SP-605 evaluation kit, the clock frequency of this FPGA is 200 MHz which is respectively high. The processing time and software size of the proposed controller had reached to 20ns and 3.75 MB, which they are less than that obtained from the results of previous techniques.

Abstract

In this study the production functions (Cobb-Douglas, Zener-Rivanker, and the transcendental production function) have been used to assess the profitability of insurance companies, by reformulating these nonlinear functions based on the introduction of a set of variables that contribute to increase the explanatory capacity of the model. Then the best production function commensurate with the nature of the variable representing the profitability of insurance companies was chosen, to use it to assess the efficiency of their profitability versus the use of different factors of production and thus the possibility of using it in forecasting. It was found that the proposed model of the production function "Zener-Rivanker" is the best production functions representing the profitability of the Tawuniya and Bupa Insurance Companies. The proposed model of the Cobb-Douglas production function is suitable for the results of both Enaya and Sanad Cooperative Insurance Companies. The explanatory capacity of the production functions was also increased when the proposed variables were added (net subscribed premiums-net claims incurred).

Abstract

This paper provides a review of orchestration distributed systems for IoT smart services in fog computing. The cloud infrastructure alone cannot handle the flow of information with the abundance of data, devices and interactions. Thus, fog computing becomes a new paradigm to overcome the problem. One of the first challenges was to build the orchestration systems to activate the clouds and to execute tasks throughout the whole system that has to be considered to the situation in the large scale of geographical distance, heterogeneity and low latency to support the limitation of cloud computing. Some problems exist for orchestration distributed in fog computing are to fulfil with high reliability and low-delay requirements in the IoT applications system and to form a larger computer network like a fog network, at different geographic sites. This paper reviewed approximately 68 articles on orchestration distributed system for fog computing. The result shows the orchestration distribute system and some of the evaluation criteria for fog computing that have been compared in terms of Borg, Kubernetes, Swarm, Mesos, Aurora, heterogeneity, QoS management, scalability, mobility, federation, and interoperability. The significance of this study is to support the researcher in developing orchestration distributed systems for IoT smart services in fog computing focus on IR4.0 national agenda

Abstract

Energy consumption of wireless network communication is still a big issue and a lot of research papers have proposed many solutions to increase node life time. The WMN architecture is made up of a fixed and mobile component, whereas the wireless mesh networks (WMNs) are multi-hop wireless networks with instant deployment, self-healing, self-organization and self-configuration features. The reduction in the distance by a factor of two can result in at least four times more powerful signals at the receiver. This paper presents suggestions that the links are more reliable without the increase in power of the transmitter in individual nodes. As a result, the present simulations networks are nine mobile nodes for considering coverage issues of the service area. The analytic results show that the link power node for direct communication between two nodes with long distance consuming more power than it is cleared. The improvement in the network performance for maintaining is available and this solution can be used to implement mobility in such case with low power region for the wireless mesh networks.

Abstract

In this paper, the modern nonlinear theory is applied to a third order phase locked loop (PLL) with a feedback time delay. Due to this delay, different behaviors that are not accounted for in a conventional PLL model are identified, namely, oscillatory instability, periodic doubling and chaos. Firstly, a Pade approximation is used to model the time delay where it is utilized in deriving the state space representation of the PLL under investigation. The PLL under consideration is simulated with and without time delay. It is shown that for certain loop gain (control parameter) and time delay values, the system changes its stability and becomes chaotic. Simulations show that the PLL with time delay becomes chaotic for control parameter value less than the one without time delay, i.e, the stable region becomes narrower. Moreover, the chaotic region becomes wider as time delay increases.

Abstract

The tremendous increase in smartphone usage is accompanied by an increase in the need for more energy. This preoperational relationship between modern technology and energy generates energy-greedy apps, and therefore power-hungry end users. With many apps falling under the same category in an app store, these apps usually share similar functionality. Because developers follow different design and development schools, each app has its energy-consumption habits. Since apps share similar features, an end-user with limited access to recharging resources would prefer an energy-friendly app rather than a popular energy-greedy app. However, app stores do not indicate the energy behavior of the apps they offer, which causes users to randomly choose apps without understanding their energy-consumption behavior. A review of the relevant literature was provided covering various energy-saving techniques. The results gave an initial impression about the popularity of the usage of two power-saving modes where the average usage of these modes did not exceed 31% among the total 443 Android users. To address this issue, we propose a star-rating evaluation model (SREM), an approach that generates a tentative energy rating label for each app. The model was tested on 7 open-source apps to act as a primary evaluation sample. To that end, SREM adapts current energy-aware refactoring tools to demonstrate the level of energy consumption of an app and presents it in a star-rating schema similar to the Ecolabels used on electrical home appliances. As per our results, SREM helped in saving 35% of smartphone energy.

Abstract

The loss of vision restrained the visually impaired people from performing their daily task. This issue has impeded their free-movement and turned them into dependent a person. People in this sector did not face technologies revamping their situations. With the advent of computer vision, artificial intelligence, the situation improved to a great extent. The propounded design is an implementation of a wearable device which is capable of performing a lot of features. It is employed to provide visual instinct by recognizing objects, identifying the face of choices. The device runs a pre-trained model to classify common objects from household items to automobiles items. Optical character recognition and Google translate were executed to read any text from image and convert speech of the user to text respectively. Besides, the user can search for an interesting topic by the command in the form of speech. Additionally, ultrasonic sensors were kept fixed at three positions to sense the obstacle during navigation. The display attached help in communication with deaf person and GPS and GSM module aid in tracing the user. All these features run by voice commands which are passed through the microphone of any earphone. The visual input is received through the camera and the computation task is processed in the raspberry pi board. However, the device seemed to be effective during the test and validation.

Abstract

A database management system is a constant application of science that provides a platform for the creation, movement, and use of voluminous data. The area has witnessed a series of developments and technological advancements from its conventional structured database to the recent buzzword, bigdata. This paper aims to provide a complete model of a relational database that is still being widely used because of its well known ACID properties namely, atomicity, consistency, integrity and durability. Specifically, the objective of this paper is to highlight the adoption of relational model approaches by bigdata techniques. Towards addressing the reason for this in corporation, this paper qualitatively studied the advancements done over a while on the relational data model. First, the variations in the data storage layout are illustrated based on the needs of the application. Second, quick data retrieval techniques like indexing, query processing and concurrency control methods are revealed. The paper provides vital insights to appraise the efficiency of the structured database in the unstructured environment, particularly when both consistency and scalability become an issue in the working of the hybrid transactional and analytical database management system.

Abstract

The control and transmission of huge data constitute an immense challenge in various types of networks (wired and wireless). Congestion caused by the high traffic and low throughput of huge data continues to be major problems in a heterogeneous platforms such as internet of things (IoT) technology and internet-of-robotic-things (IoRT). The heterogeneous network requires new models and mechanisms to deal with the increased challenges posed by IoT and IoRT. Accordingly, eliminating the issues that emerge has compelled finding improved solutions as a new strategy. This study proposed a new strategy called routing information and distance vector (RIDV) to create the best improvement of a heterogeneous network. The RIDV strategy activates the routing information protocol (RIPv2) on a router in wire network parallel with the ad-hoc on-demand distance vector (AODV) protocol on the wireless network. The RIDV strategy is used to solve the problems of the diversity of heterogeneous networks as the basis of the infrastructure IoRT technology. Hence, this strategy can reduce or avoid congestion through the use of enhanced and effective best routing protocols. Simulation results using OPNET show that the proposed method improved the quality of service (QoS) compared with other related strategies and AODV and RIPv1 protocols in terms of data drop, traffic drop, queue delay, and throughput.

Abstract

At this age, World Wide Web is growing faster. Many companies have built and launch social media networks. People so widely use social media to get the latest news, to express their emotions or moods, to communicate with their friends and so on. Emotions of social media users are needed to analyze in order to apply in many areas. Many researchers do research on emotion detection using different techniques with their languages. Currently, there are no emotion detection systems for Myanmar (Burmese) language. So, this paper describes the emotion detection system for Myanmar language. This system uses our pre-constructed M-Lexicon, a Myanmar word-emotion lexicon, in the detection process. This system detects six basic emotions such as happiness, sadness, anger, fear, surprise, and disgust. In order to determine certain emotion from the text, we also apply rule-based decision making on sentence nature. We use Facebook users’ status, which has been written in Myanmar words. Emotions of user groups are also summarized in this system. Our approach achieves 86% accuracy for emotion detection in Myanmar texts.
