Abstract

In the ever-expanding sphere of assistive robotics, the pressing need for advanced methods capable of accurately tracking individuals within unstructured indoor settings has been magnified. This research endeavours to devise a realtime visual tracking mechanism that encapsulates high performance attributes while maintaining minimal computational requirements. Inspired by the neural processes of the human brain’s visual information handling, our innovative algorithm employs a pattern image, serving as an ephemeral memory, which facilitates the identification of motion within images. This tracking paradigm was subjected to rigorous testing on a Nao humanoid robot, demonstrating noteworthy outcomes in controlled laboratory conditions. The algorithm exhibited a remarkably low false detection rate, less than 4%, and target losses were recorded in merely 12% of instances, thus attesting to its successful operation. Moreover, the algorithm’s capacity to accurately estimate the direct distance to the target further substantiated its high efficacy. These compelling findings serve as a substantial contribution to assistive robotics. The proficient visual tracking methodology proposed herein holds the potential to markedly amplify the competencies of robots operating in dynamic, unstructured indoor settings, and set the foundation for a higher degree of complex interactive tasks.

Abstract

A leading cause of accidents during the landing phase of a flight lies in a considerable altitude loss by an aircraft as a result of the impact of a microburst of wind. One of the significant factors focuses primarily on the need to simultaneously satisfy various requirements regarding conditions of environmental disturbances and a wide range of systemic changes. The paper presents an algorithm for synthesizing an optimal controller that solves the mixed H2/H∞ control problem for the stabilization of aircraft in glide-path landing mode in the presence of uncertainty. Firstly, the principles of multi-criteria optimization are presented, and the mixed H2/H∞ problem is interpreted as the synthesis of a system with optimal quadratic performance, subject to its readiness to operate with the worst disturbance. Then, the ensuing section expounds upon the mathematical depiction of the vertical trajectory of aircraft, duly considering the perturbations imposed by wind phenomena. Subsequently, the effectiveness of mixed H2/H∞ control is confirmed compared to autonomous H2 or H∞ regulators through simulation outcomes acquired from the created system. Optimization based on a hybrid (mixed) criterion allowed combining the strengths of locally optimal systems based only on H2 or H∞ theory.

Abstract

With the emergence of cloud computing as a processing backbone for internet of thing (IoT), fog computing has been proposed as a solution for delay-sensitive applications. According to fog computing, this is done by placing computing servers near IoT. IoT networks are inherently very dynamic, and their topology and resources may be changed drastically in a short period. So, using the traditional networking paradigm to build their communication backbone, may lower network performance and higher network configuration convergence latency. So, it seems to be more beneficial to employ a software-defined network paradigm to implement their communication network. In software-defined networking (SDN), separating the network’s control and data forwarding plane makes it possible to manage the network in a centralized way. Managing a network using a centralized controller can make it more flexible and agile in response to any possible network topology and state changes. This paper presents a software-defined fog platform to host real-time applications in IoT. The effectiveness of the mechanism has been evaluated by conducting a series of simulations. The results of the simulations show that the proposed mechanism is able to find near to optimal solutions in a very lower execution time compared to the brute force method.

Abstract

Fifth-generation (5G) wireless systems increased the bandwidth, improved the speed, and shortened the latency of communications systems. Various channel models are developed to study 5G. These channel models reproduce the stochastic properties of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antennas by generating wireless multipath components (MPCs). The MPCs that have similar properties in delay, angles of departure, and angles of arrival form clusters. The multipaths and multipath clusters serve as datasets to understand the properties of 5G. These datasets generated by the Cooperation in Science and Technology 2100 (COST 2100), International Mobile Telecommunications-2020 (IMT-2020), quasi deterministic radio channel generator (QuaDRiGa), and wireless world initiative new radio II (WINNER II) channel models are tested for their homoscedasticity based on Johansen's procedure. Results show that the COST 2100, QuaDRiGa, and WINNER II datasets are heteroscedastic, while the IMT-2020 dataset is homoscedastic.

Abstract

Internet banking is a method for conducting financial transactions online that makes use of the internet as a platform. Customers could transact at any time and from any location. Numerous aspects relating to the adoption of internet banking have been analyzed and studied in recent in-depth studies from the literature. This paper will merge these numerous predefined factors into a model by drawing on the various ideas related to the acceptance model. It was decided to adapt the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) method for finding the important numerous components for the model. The finest mathematical calculation method is AHP, which enables decision-makers to prioritize their ranking in order to satisfy various criteria. The goal of this research is to rank the elements that influence the use of online banking. Three main factors such as technical information, website and service availability were chosen as the main factors of the model based on the literature review. Sub-factors such as ease of use, responsiveness, privacy, reliability, security, communication and efficiency were also suggested and combined into a single integrated framework. Utilizing the systematic literature review (SLR) methodology, several factors were found. As a result, the article will enhance understanding of the unique elements supporting the adoption of internet banking.

Abstract

The spread of social media has led to a massive change in the way information is dispersed. It provides organizations and individuals wider opportunities of collaboration. But it also causes an emergence of malicious users and attention seekers to spread rumors and fake news. Understanding user stances in rumor posts is very important to identify the veracity of the underlying content as news becomes viral in a few seconds which can lead to mass panic and confusion. In this paper, different machine learning techniques were utilized to enhance the user stance prediction through a conversation thread towards a given rumor on Twitter platform. We utilized both conversation thread features as well as features related to users who participated in this conversation, in order to predict the users’ stances, in terms of supporting, denying, querying, or commenting (SDQC), towards the source tweet. Furthermore, different datasets for the stance-prediction task were explored to handle the data imbalance problem and data augmentation for minority classes was applied to enhance the results. The proposed framework outperforms the state-of-the-art results with macro F1-score of 0.7233.

Abstract

A novel high-gain and high-efficiency direct current to direct current (DC-DC) converter is introduced in this paper. The presented converter is suitable for low-voltage renewable energy resources such as photovoltaic (PV) and fuel cell (FC). The existence of series inductance with the input source ensures continuous and low-ramp input current, which is important for extracting maximum power from resources. Using coupled inductor technology and an intermediate capacitor in the suggested converter leads to a high gain voltage. In the presented topology for recovering energy from the leakage inductor, reducing voltage stress on the power switch, and so decreasing overall converter losses, a passive clamp circuit is used. The suitable operation range of duty cycle in the converter, besides the leakage inductor, decreases the problem of reverse recovery in diodes. The low value of the leakage inductor and the low volume and cost of the proposed converter are due to the low turn ratio of the coupled inductor. Details of the operation principles of the proposed converter have been discussed in this paper. The presented simulation and laboratory prototype results verify the theoretical analysis and performance of the suggested topology.

Abstract

The cognitive radio network is designed to cater to the optimization demands of restricted spectrum availability. A review of existing literature on spectrum sensing shows that there is still a broader scope for its improvement. Therefore, this paper introduces an efficient computational framework capable of evaluating the effectiveness of the spread spectrum concept in the context of cognitive radio network in a more scalable and granular way. The proposed method introduces a dual hypothesis using a different set of dependable parameters to emphasize the detection of optimal energy for a low signal quality state over the noise. The proposed evaluation framework is benchmarked using a statistical analysis method not present in any existing approaches toward spread spectrum sensing. The simulated outcome of the study exhibits that the proposed system offers a significantly better probability of detection than the current system using a simplified evaluation scheme with multiple test parameters.

Abstract

In recent days, extensive digital communication process has been performed. Due to this phenomenon, a proper maintenance of authentication, communication without any overhead such as signal attenuation code rate fluctuations during digital communication process can be minimized and optimized by adopting parallel encoder and decoder operations. To overcome the above-mentioned drawbacks by using proposed reconfigurable code rate cooperative (RCRC) and low-density parity check (LDPC) method. The proposed RCRC-LDPC is capable to operate over gigabits/sec data and it effectively performs linear encoding, dual diagonal form, widens the range of code rate and optimal degree distribution of LDPC mother code. The proposed method optimize the transmission rate and it is capable to operate on 0.98 code rate. It is the highest upper bounded code rate as compared to the existing methods. Abstract

The media content shared on the internet has increased tremendously nowadays. The streaming service has major role in contributing to internet traffic all over the world. As the major content shared are in the form of images and rapid increase in computing power a better and complex encryption standard is needed to protect this data from being leaked to unauthorized person. Our proposed system makes use of chaotic maps, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) coding and ribonucleic acid (RNA) coding technique to encrypt the image. As videos are nothing but collection of images played at the rate of minimum 30 frames/images per second, this methodology can also be used to encrypt videos. The complexity and dynamic nature of chaotic systems makes decryption of content by unauthorized personal difficult. The hybrid usage of chaotic systems along with DNA and RNA sequencing improves the encryption efficiency of the algorithm and also makes it possible to decrypt the images at the same time without consuming too much of computation power.
