Abstract

This paper introduces a good method which is helpful to assist in the design and control of cost effective, efficient Brushless Direct Current (BLDC) motors. Speed Control of BLDC motor using PIC microcontrollers requires more hardware, and with the availability of FPGA versatile features motivated to develop a cost effective and reliable control with variable speed range. In this paper, an algorithm which uses the Resolver signals captured from the motor is developed with the help of Resolver to Digital converters. The program has been written using VHDL. This program generates the firing pulses required to drive the MOSFETs of three phase fully controlled bridge converter driven by drivers. Then the program has been loaded on the Spartan- 3 FPGA device and tested on the 30V, 2000 rpm BLDC motor which can make the motor run at constant speed ranging from 10 to 2000 rpm. The proposed hardware and the program are found to be very good and efficient. The results are good compare to PIC Microcontroller based design.

Abstract

Radiology field is very important in today's world, especially in the field of medicine including dentistry. Radiology equipment that is popular in dentistry is the panoramic machine. A panoramic image facilitate the dentist in making a diagnosis of the abnormality in the mouth and teeth. But unfortunately, for developing countries like Indonesia, panoramic machine available are low resolution which have an effect on the resulting image also has low quality. This research aims to improve the quality of the panoramic image to have a better quality. We use point processing method with emphasis on contrast stretching method. We chose this method because it is quite simple but has a high performance. Based on the second opinion from the hospital, the performance is 83.9%, therefore this method is promising to be implemented on the improvement of dental radiology images.

Abstract

In the last decade, there has been much effort to reduce the supply voltage of electronic circuits due to the demand for portable and battery-powered equipment. Since a low-voltage operating circuit becomes necessary, the current-mode technique is ideally suited for this purpose more than the voltage-mode one. In this paper, performance of multi output current controlled current differencing transconductance amplifier (MOCCCDTA) is evaluated using 180nm, 90nm and 45nm CMOS technology. It is found that the 45nm CMOS-basedMOCCCDTA provides highest frequency i.e. 33GHz. Further a Universal biquad filter has been designed using a single MOCCCDTA as an active element and two capacitors. Filter offers high frequency in GHz. Tunability of all the filter outputs with respect to a bias current has been analyzed. The tunability of the filter circuit for Bluetooth applications is also shown in this work. The performances of MOCCCDTA circuit and Universal biquad filter are illustrated by HSPICE. The simulation results are found to be in agreement with the theoretical predictions.

Abstract

Fuzzy Logic (FL) together with Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) is used to predict the software reliability. Fuzzy Min-Max algorithm is used to optimize the number of the kgaussian nodes in the hidden layer and delayed input neurons. The optimized recurrentneural network is used to dynamically reconfigure in real-time as actual software failure. In this work, an enhanced fuzzy min-max algorithm together with recurrent neural network based machine learning technique is explored and a comparative analysis is performed for the modeling of reliability prediction in software systems. The model has been applied on data sets collected across several standard software projects during system testing phase with fault removal. The performance of our proposed approach has been tested using distributed system application failure data set.

Abstract

In a wireless cooperative network, system reliability can be improved by introducing network coding (NC) for transmitting data packets from user to destination through relay nodes. At the destination, a decoding strategy is required to recover the original data packets. The use of NC in cooperative networks has been intensively studied in previous works in terms of the conventional model for two users and a single relay in a network. However, the network model cannot act as a virtual multiple-input multiple-output system, and a multi-user multi-relay network model could be used in a real system. Therefore, this paper proposes an improved model of two network decoding strategies, selection with soft combining (SSC) and selection with hard combining (SHC), for multi-user multi-relay cooperative networks. Users are classified based on their channel conditions, with better signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio sources being viewed as strong users, and others as weak or moderate users in the decoding strategies. To evaluate the performance of the proposed model, we first derive the bit error probability expressions for each strategy as a function of SNR and then evaluate the performance using numerical simulation for a Rayleigh fading channel. Simulation results show that SSC outperforms SHC. Furthermore, the improvement in network performance is achieved either by having a higher modulation level or using incremental relaying as the signal reception method at the destination.

Abstract

The video compression is used in a wide of applications from medical domain especially in telemedicine. Compared to the classical transforms, wavelet transform has significantly better performance in horizontal, vertical and diagonal directions. Therefore, this transform introduces high discontinuities in complex geometrics. However, to detect complex geometrics is one key challenge for the high efficient compression. In order to capture anisotropic regularity along various curves a new efficient and precise transform termed by bandelet basis, based on DWT, quadtree decomposition and optical flow is proposed in this paper. To encode significant coefficients we use efficient coder SPIHT. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm DBT-SPIHT for low bit rate (0.3Mbps) is able to reduce up to 37.19% and 28.20% of the complex geometrics detection compared to the DWT-SPIHT and DCuT-SPIHT algorithm.

Abstract

Incremental Learning on non stationary distribution has been shown to be a very challenging problem in machine learning and data mining, because the joint probability distribution between the data and classes changes over time. Many real time problems suffer concept drift as they changes with time. For example, an advertisement recommendation system, in which customer’s behavior may change depending on the season of the year, on the inflation and on new products made available. An extra challenge arises when the classes to be learned are not represented equally in the training data i.e. classes are imbalanced, as most machine learning algorithms work well only when the training data  is balanced. The objective of this paper is to develop an ensemble based classification algorithm for non-stationary data stream (ENSDS) with focus on two-class problems. In addition, we are presenting here an exhaustive comparison of purposed algorithms with state-of-the-art classification approaches using different evaluation measures like recall, f-measure and g-mean

Abstract

PID controller has been widely used as one of the basic property controllers in industry. However, tuning PID parameters is not simple and also has a few problems in handling slow response systems, such as boiler. Therefore, the Model Driven PID (MD PID) control is designed for solving these problems, especially for plants or processes with slow response. The MD PID is using the model of the plant itself as the basic model of the controller. In this research, we will show the performance of water heater system step response with MD PID controller compared to the conventional PID controller (PI controller). The MD PID closed-loop system is expected to give fast response, stable, and no overshoot.

Abstract

The emergence of cuprates as a high Tc superconductor gave high hopes in the discovery of a room temperature superconductor. It is almost three decades and the highest critical temperature attained on the cuprates is about 135K. A brief overview was conducted on the progress made so far on the cuprates. A mathematical approach was used to design a formula which could determine the experimental results of critical temperature of versed cuprates superconductors. The result of our findings shows that the possibility of attaining the experimental room temperature cuprates superconductor seems very narrow. The study recommended an elaborate approach on the hybridization of cuprates for future research. Hence, there is possibility of having cuprates with wide engineering application.
