Abstract

Since the wireless systems are working under nature environments and influenced by turbulence, weather in Iraq that leads to extended amount of fading signal, dissipation or attenuation. Basic “hybrid Subcarrier Multiplying Spectral Amplitude Coding (SCM-SAC) of Optical Code Division Multiple Access (OCDMA)" indoor or outdoor optical system depends on generally “Multi-Diagonal (MD)" security code by using optical space known as “Free Space Optic (FSO)" that was proposed in this work. It is found that the mention hybrid wireless systems can be used in operating mesh networks. The main proposed idea of hybrid optical technique was analyzed and simulated by normally taking into simulation account that the directly effecting by rain and haze attenuations. In addition, there are mention and description for atmospheric effects, FSO mesh network, modulation scheme, simulation, and the data security. From simulation results, the hybrid system using MD code produces reduced “bit-error rate (BER)" at heavy storm rain to distance or range of 500 m and at drizzle rain up to 2500 m range. And also investigates the performance of using the proposed system with radio over fiber (RoF) for UWB signals through indoor propagation in building applications of wireless channel.

Abstract

Recently, the mobile service providers have been growing rapidly in Malaysia. In this paper, we propose analytical method to find best telecommunication provider by visualizing their performance among telecommunication service providers in Malaysia, i.e. TM Berhad, Celcom, Maxis, U-Mobile, etc. This paperuses data mining technique to evaluate the performanceof telecommunication service providers using their customers feedback from Twitter Inc. It demonstrates on how the system could process and then interpret the big data into a simple graph or visualization format. In addition, build a computerized tool and recommend data analytic model based on the collected result. From prepping the data for pre-processing until conducting analysis, this project is focusing on the process of data science itself where Cross Industry Standard Process for Data Mining (CRISP-DM) methodology will be used as a reference. The analysis was developed by using R language and R Studio packages. From the result, it shows that Telco 4 is the best as it received highest positive scores from the tweet data. In contrast, Telco 3 should improve their performance as having less positive feedback from their customers via tweet data. This project bring insights of how the telecommunication industries can analyze tweet data from their customers. Malaysia telecommunication industry will get the benefit by improving their customer satisfaction and business growth. Besides, it will give the awareness to the telecommunication user of updated review from other users.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to provision the on demand resources to the end users as per their need using prediction method in cloud computing environment. The provisioning of virtualized resources to cloud consumers according to their need is a crucial step in the deployment of applications on the cloud. However, the dynamical management of resources for variable workloads remains a challenging problem for cloud providers. This problem can be solved by using a prediction based adaptive resource provisioning mechanism, which can estimate the upcoming resource demands of applications. The present research introduces a prediction based resource provisioning model for the allocation of resources in advance. The proposed approach facilitates the release of unused resources in the pool with quality of service (QoS), which is defined based on prediction model to perform the allocation of resources in advance. In this work, the model is used to determine the future workload prediction for user requests on web servers, and its impact toward achieving efficient resource provisioning in terms of resource exploitation and QoS. The main contribution of this paper is to develop the prediction model for efficient and dynamic resource provisioning to meet the requirements of end users.

Abstract

Detection of nutritional deficiencies in plants is vital for improving crop productivity. Timely identification of nutrient deficiency through visual symptoms in the plants can help farmers take quick corrective action by appropriate nutrient management strategies. The application of computer vision and machine learning techniques offers new prospects in non-destructive field-based analysis for nutrient deficiency. Color and shape are important parameters in feature extraction. In this work, two different techniques are used for image segmentation and feature extraction to generate two different feature sets from the same image sets. These are then used for classification using different machine learning techniques. The experimental results are analyzed and compared in terms of classification accuracy to find the best algorithm for the two feature sets.

Abstract

Compressor cell is often placed in critical path of multiplier circuits to perform partial product summation. Therefore it plays a significant role in determining the entire performance of multiplier and digital system. Respecting to the necessity of low power design for portable electronic, designing a low power and high performance compressors seems to be a good solution to overcome of these problems for computations. In this paper a novel high performance four-to-two compressor cell is proposed using Carbon Nanotube Field Effect Transistors (CNTFETs) technology. The new cell is based on Majority Function, NOR, and NAND gates. The main advantage of proposed design in comparison with former cells is the ease of obtaining CARRY output by means of Majority function. Simulations have been done with 32nm technology node using Synopsys HSPICE software. Simulation results confirm the priority of the proposed cell compared to other state-of-the-art four-to-two compressor cells.

Abstract

Ultrasonic Doppler signals are widely used in the detection of cardiovascular pathologies or the evaluation of the degree of stenosis in the femoral arteries. The presence of stenosis can be indicated by disturbing the blood flow in the femoral arteries, causing spectral broadening of the Doppler signal. To analyze these types of signals and determine stenosis index, a number of time-frequency methods have been developed, such as the short-time Fourier transform, the continuous wavelets transform, the wavelet packet transform, and the S-transform.

Abstract

Detecting the authenticity of paper currencies using automated based Paper Currency Recognition (PCR) with image processing techniques was still a hot topic of discussion, due to the circulation of counterfeit currency that was still overwhelming in some countries. There was a downside along with this advancement in technology in the field of color printing, duplication, and scanning, because it was became one of the supporting factors of the increasing crime rate in production of counterfeit money. Our system has performed a PCR approach based on image processing techniques. In this study, the SAR banknote was the object to be recognized and detected its authenticity with the development of the previous method, which was incorporating the Geometric Template Matching and Grayscale Template Matching. In addition to the pattern recognition process, the classification process on 1 SAR, 2 SAR, 5 SAR, and 10 SAR was also performed. From PCR test up to 100 sample data, for each tested banknote value obtained the average value of the best accuracy level from incorporating GeoMatchingScore and GrayMatchingScore for the classification process was 95.25%. While the average level of system accuracy in recognizing counterfeit money on each banknote obtained a maximum value of 100%.

Abstract

Researches indicate that energy behaviour is the key to energy conservation and suggest that comparative feedback on energy usage can generate savings in residential and organizational settings. In implementing comparative feedback in workplace, there are two different ways to disaggregate collective energy consumption and apportion it to building users; individual or group level. This research uses agent-based modelling and simulation to examine the impact of applying different approaches of energy data apportionment to change staff behaviour toward energy consumption reduction. A simulation model of energy consumption in workplace as a base model is a re-implementation and simplification from former research. Several psychological factors and decision-making mechanism are then being added as an extension. The model divides staffs into four energy awareness stereotypes based on motivation level. Sensitivity analysis suggests that motivation is an important factor in changing user‟s behaviour and the experiment results indicates greater potential for energy saving when energy usage is apportioned to group level. The significant difference of energy consumption level makes user with low and medium motivation should become the target of energy reduction campaign.

Abstract

Multiprocessor system-on-chip (MPSoC) has become an attractive solution for improving the performance of single chip in objective to satisfy the performance growing exponentially of the computer applications as multimedia applications. However, the communication between the different processors’ cores presents the first challenge front the high performance of MPSoC. Besides, Network on Chip (NoC) is among the most prominent solution for handling the on-chip communication. Besides, NoC potential limited by physical limitation, power consumption, latency and bandwidth in the both case: increasing data exchange or scalability of Multicores. Optical communication offers a wider bandwidth and lower power consumption, based on, a new technology named Optical Network-on-Chip (ONoC) has been introduced in MPSoC. However, ONoC components induce the crosstalk noise in the network on both forms intra/inter crosstalk. This serious problem deteriorates the quality of signals and degrades network performance. As a result, detection and monitoring the impairments becoming a challenge to keep the performance in the ONoC. In this article, we propose a new system to detect and monitor the crosstalk noise in ONoC. Particularly, we present an analytic model of intra/inter crosstalk at the optical devices. Then, we evaluate these impairments in objective to present the motivation to detect and monitor crosstalk in ONoC, in which our system has the capability to detect, to localize, and to monitor the crosstalk noise in the whole network. This system offers high reliability, scalability and efficiency with time running time less than 20 ms.
