An effective video surveillance system is highly essential in order to ensure constructing better form of video analytics. Existing review of literatures pertaining to video analytics are found to directly implement algorithms on the top of the video file without much emphasis on following problems i.e. i) dynamic orientation of subject, ii)poor illumination condition, iii) identification and classification of subjects, and iv) faster response time. Therefore, the proposed system implements an analytical concept that uses depth-image of the video feed along with the original colored video feed to apply an algorithm for extracting significant information about the motion blob of the dynamic subjects. Implemented in MATLAB, the study outcome shows that it is capable of addressing all the above mentioned problems associated with existing research trends on video analytics by using a very simple and non-iterative process of implementation. The applicability of the proposed system in practical world is thereby proven.

Emerging demands for high data rate services, high user capacity and low power consumption systems are the key driving forces behind the continued technology evolution in wireless communications. Multicarrier Modulation techniques support variety of services requiring different data rates and different QoS (quality of service) levels. Multicarrier CDMA is a wireless communication system that can be seen as a combination of direct sequence CDMA and Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing techniques. The main benefits of this system are its robustness to inter symbol interference and multipath propagation in fading channels. This paper studies and simulates the Discrete Wavelet Transform based Multicarrier CDMA and compares it with the Discrete Fourier Transform based one using different number of sub carriers, and different modulation techniques. The results shows that the Wavelet based system outperforms the Fourier based one since it has lower bit error rate BER performance, lower peak to verage power ratio PAPR and higher user capacity.

This paper presents an improved Ant System (AS) algorithm called AS-2Swap for solving one of the reliability optimization problems. The objective is to selection a compatible module in order to maximize the system reliability and subject to budget constraints. This problem is NP-hard and formulated as a binary integer-programming problem with a nonlinear objective function. The proposed algorithm is based on the original AS algorithm and the improvement, focused on choosing the feasible solutions, neighborhood search with Swap technique for each loop of finding the solution. The implementation was tested by the five groups of data sets from the existing meta-heuristic found in the literature. The computational results show that the proposed algorithm can find the global optimal solution and is more accurate for larger problems.

Electric power is the bedrock of our modern way of life. In Nigeria, power supply availability, sufficiency and reliability are major operational challenges. At the generation and transmission level, effort is made to ensure status monitoring and fault detection on the power network, but at the distribution level, particularly within domestic consumer communities there are no fault monitoring and detection devices except for HRC fuses at the feeder pillar. Unfortunately, these fuses are sometimes replaced by a copper wire bridge at some locations rendering the system unprotected and creating a great potential for transformer destruction on overload. This study is focused on designing an on-site power system monitoring device to be deployed on selected household entry power cables for detecting and indicating when phase off, low voltage, high voltage, over current, and blown fuse occurs on the building’s incomer line. The fault indication will help in reducing troubleshooting time and also ensure quick service restoration. After design implementation, the test result confirms design accuracy, device functionality and suitability as a low-cost solution to power supply system fault monitoring within local communities.

Ontologies are spreading more and more in the field of information technologies as a privileged solution allowing the formalization of knowledge. The theoretical model of ontologies is most promising. They are increasingly ubiquitous given the benefits they present. Despite the proliferation of research proposing approaches dedicated to the design of a database from an ontology, the tools to design a database from an ontology are rare or inaccessible. Thus, in this contribution, we present our approach for the development of an Eclipse Plug-in, in order to automatically generate a conceptual model of a relational database from an ontology. To evaluate the usefulness of our approach, we used our resulting Eclipse Plug-in to automatically generate a conceptual model of a relational database from an ontology, customize it, and automatically generate the corresponding SQL script for Data Definition. The results of this experiment showed that our Plug-in constitutes a concretization of our approach and a means of automatic translation from the ontological model to the relational model.

This paper gives a review of energy scenario in India and other countries. Today’s demand of the world is to minimize greenhouse gas emissions, during the production of electricity. Henceforth over the world, the production of electrical power is changing by introducing abundantly available renewable energy sources like sun and wind. But, because of the intermittent nature of sustainable power sources, the electrical power network faces many problems, during the transmission and distribution of electricity. For resolving these issues, Electrical Energy Storage (EES) is acknowledged as supporting technology. This paper discusses about the world electrical energy scenario with top renowned developed countries in power generation and consumption. Contribution of traditional power sources changed after the introduction of renewable energy sources like sun and wind. Worldwide Agencies are formed like International Energy Agency (IEA), The Central Intelligence Agency, (CIS) etc. The main aim of these agencies is to provide reliable, affordable and clean energy. This paper will discuss about the regulatory authority and government policies/incentives taken by different countries. At the end of this paper, author focuses on obstacles in implementation, development and benefits of renewable energy.

In this paper, I present high-level speaker specific feature extraction considering intonation, linguistics rhythm, linguistics stress, prosodic features directly from speech signals. I assume that the rhythm is related to language units such as syllables and appears as changes in measurable parameters such as fundamental frequency ( ), duration, and energy. In this work, the syllable type features are selected as the basic unit for expressing the prosodic features. The approximate segmentation of continuous speech to syllable units is achieved by automatically locating the vowel starting point. The knowledge of high-level speaker’s specific speakers is used as a reference for extracting the prosodic features of the speech signal. High-level speaker-specific features extracted using this method may be useful in applications such as speaker recognition where explicit phoneme/syllable boundaries are not readily available. The efficiency of the particular characteristics of the specific features used for automatic speaker recognition was evaluated on TIMIT and HTIMIT corpora initially sampled in the TIMIT at 16 kHz to 8 kHz. In summary, the experiment, the basic discriminating system, and the HMM system are formed on TIMIT corpus with a set of 48 phonemes. Proposed ASR system shows 1.99%, 2.10%, 2.16% and 2.19 % of efficiency improvements compared to traditional ASR system for and of 16KHz TIMIT utterances.

Vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) is one of the emerging research areas in the mobile computing field which is considered as future technology and promising topic in computer science and computer networks. Which provides road safety, updated traffic information, and infotainment. VANET consists of a large number of vehicles moving in high speeds while broadcasting important information like safety and control information which must be sent with high priority. Crowded networks like VANET having many vehicles competing to reserve the channel to send critical information which may lead to high collision scenarios, and therefore, there must be a protocol to send this kind of information with high reliability, low data loss and with no collision. In this research a collision-free protocol will be proposed to manage the channel access among competing vehicles to eliminate the collisions which occur rapidly in VANET especially in dense situations, the proposed protocol hereinafter will be called (I-MAC) protocol expected to enhance the channel performance, achieve load balancing, fairness, and decrease message loss and enhance reliability, The evaluation criteria will examine the channel throughput, message delay, and message loss; the results show that the overall channel performance with regard to collision and packet loss ratio is improved.

A cross layer QoS framework is a complete system that provides required QoS services to each node present in the network. All components within it cooperate together for providing the required services. In existing QoS frameworks there is no security mechanism provided while Security is a critical aspect for QoS in the MANET environment. Cross layer QoS framework tend to be vulnerable to a number of threats and attacks like, over/under-reporting of available bandwidth, over-reservation, state table starvation, QoS degradation, information disclosure, theft of services timing attack, flooding attack, replay attack, and denial of service (DoS) attack, attacks on information in transit and attacks against routing. So it is necessary when designing protocols for QoS framework, the harmony between security and QoS must be present as one impacts the others. In this work we proposed secure and proficient cross layer (SPCL) QoS frameworks which prevents from various types of threats and attacks. The proposed SPCL QoS framework achieves better performance compared to existing QoS frameworks in metrics of throughput, packet drop ratio, end-to-end delay, and average jitter in both condition when malicious node present in the network and when malicious node not present in the network

The users of electronic service provider often suffered losses caused by internet services did not work properly including losses due to leakage of personal data protection stored in cloud computing. The study aims to examine electronic service provider liability upon their failure performing internet services properly and security attacks on cloud computing. This study was normative legal research by examining national and international legal materials. The finding shows that the electronic provider shall be responsible based on right and obligation agreed under the agreement. Related to cloud computing, providing adequate security to avoid security attacks and misuse of private data that caused losses to the users becoming the liability of service provider. Based on the Federal Trade Commission Act, the liability arises on the grounds of deceptive and unfair trade practices. Under the General Data Protection Regulation of the European Union, the liability arises on the basis as the controller then provider liable for compensation for user’s suffered damage. In Indonesia, based on the Electronic Information and Transaction Law Amendment, the liability to the owner of personal data whose rights are violated and suffered losses arises due to a failure of ISP protect the data security. For better protection in Indonesia, the protection of big data and clear territorial scope of protection become necessary to consider.
