Abstract

In this work, we are interested in implementing, developing and evaluating multi-antenna techniques used for multi-user two-way wireless relay networks that provide a good tradeoff between the computational complexity and performance in terms of symbol error rate and achievable data rate. In particular, a variety of newly multi-antenna techniques is proposed and studied. Some techniques based on orthogonal projection enjoy low computational complexity. However, the performance penalty associated with them is high. Other techniques based on maximum likelihood strategy enjoy high performance, however, they suffer from very high computational complexity. The Other techniques based on randomization strategy provide a good trade-off between the computational complexity and performance where they enjoy low computational complexity with almost the same performance as compared to the techniques based on maximum likelihood strategy.

Abstract

Solar energy can be converted into thermal energy with the help of solarcollectors. Electricity can be produced directly from solar energy usingphotovoltaic devices or indirectly from steam generators using solar thermal collectors to heat a working fluid. This research is using the conversion of solar energy into electricity in a closed cycle driven by natural convection. It would mean that electricity is cheaper than from any other renewable technology and cheaper than from fossil fuels. This paper describes converting thermal energy collected by solar collector to electricity by using turbine. Anywhere in Myanmar will cheaply use electricity by using solar turbine generator. Remote areas will improve more and more when getting the efficient electricity. The design calculation and performance predication of 1 MVA turbo-alternator/generator are also mentioned. Design calculation of absorbed flux, useful heat gain and exit temperature is described. And then development of two-tank thermal storage system that uses molten salt as the heat transfer fluid is described.

Abstract

The aim of this research focuses on construct a computerized system for textile defects detection. The system merges between image processing methods, statistical methods in addition to the Intelligent techniques via Neural Network and Fuzzy Logic. Gabor filters were used to identify edges and to highlight defective areas in fabric images, then to train the neural network on statistical and geometry features derived from fabric images to form the special neural network distinguish and classify defects into the fourteen categories, which are the most common defects in the textile factory.  The proposed work includes two phases. The first phase is to detect the defects in fabrics. The second phase is the classification phase of the defect. At the defect detection stage, a Discrete Cosine Transfer (DCT) converts the images to the frequency domain.  Image features then drawn and introduce them to the Elman Neural Network to detect the existence of defects. In the classification stage, the images are converted to the frequency domain by the Gabor filter and then the image features are extracted and inserted into the back propagation network to classify the fabric defects in those images. Fuzzy logic is then applied to neural network outputs and interference values are used in fuzzy logic to increase final discrimination. We evaluate a distinction rate of 91.4286% .After applying the fuzzy logic to neural network output; the discrimination rate was raised to 97.1428%.

Abstract

Association Rule mining plays an important role in the discovery of knowledge and information. Association Rule mining discovers huge number of rules for any dataset for different support and confidence values, among this many of them are redundant, especially in the case of multi-level datasets. Mining non-redundant Association Rules in multi-level dataset is a big concern in field of Data mining. In this paper, we present a definition for redundancy and a concise representation called Reliable Exact basis for representing non-redundant Association Rules from multi-level datasets. The given non-redundant Association Rules are loss less representation for any datasets.

Abstract

Owing to the wireless and mobility nature, nodes in a mobile ad hoc network are not within the transmission range. It needs to transfer data through the multi-intermediate nodes. Opportunistic data forwarding is an assuring solution to make use of the broadcast environment of wireless communication links. Due to absence of source routing capability with efficient proactive routing protocol, it is not widely used. To rectify the problem, we proposed memory and routing efficient proactive routing protocol using Depth-First Iterative-Deepening and hello messaging scheme.  This protocol can conserve the topology information in every node in the network. In experimental analysis and discussion, we implemented the proposed work using NS2 simulator tool and proved that the proposed technique is performed well in terms of average delay, buffer and throughput.

Abstract

This paper presents the analytical study of flexible stimulation waveforms in muscle fatigue reduction for functional electrical stimulator (FES)-assisted hemiplegic muscle activities. The major challenge of muscle contraction induced by FES is early muscle fatigue which greatly limits activities such as FES-assisted standing and walking. The fixed stimulation pattern applied on a same motor unit has resulted the motor unit to be overworked and fatigue easily. Therefore, in this work, the stimulus parameters, which include the pulse width duration and the frequency were varied to create a few flexible stimulation waveforms using MATLAB/Simulink. The pulse width duration was modulated from 100µs – 500µs to generate five types of flexible stimulation waveforms such as Rectangular, Trapezoidal, Ramp Up, Ramp Down and Triangular. Concurrently, a few ranges of stimulus frequency were also used, which include 20Hz, 30Hz and 50Hz. The generated flexible stimulation waveforms were applied onto a humanoid muscle model to investigate and analyse the muscle output response and early muscle fatigue reduction. From the conducted simulation results and analyses, it was observed that flexible stimulation waveforms such as Triangular, Ramp Up and Ramp Down could reduce early muscle fatigue phenomenon by having lower average of negative slope, in the range of 0.012 to 0.013 for the muscle fitness. In contrast, the Rectangular and Trapezoidal shapes were found to have higher negative slope of muscle fitness in the range of 0.028 to 0.031. The Ramp Down shape was found to have the lowest average of negative slope (0.012) while Rectangular was found to have the highest average of negative slope (0.031). Therefore, it can be concluded that flexible stimulation waveforms such Ramp Down, Ramp Up and Triangular shapes could reduce early muscle fatigue phenomenon with Ramp Down shape having the highest muscle fatigue reduction.

Abstract

Aggregate function and iceberg queries are important and common in many applications of data warehouse because users are generally interested in looking for variance or unusual patterns. Normally, the nature of the queries to be executed on data warehouse are the queries with aggregate function followed by having clause, these type of queries are known as iceberg query. Especially to have efficient techniques for processing aggregate function of iceberg query is very important because their processing cost is much higher than that of the other basic relational operations such as SELECT and PROJECT. Presently available iceberg query processing techniques faces the problem of empty bitwise AND,OR  XOR operation and requires more I/O access and time.To overcome these problems proposed research provides efficient algorithm to execute iceberg queries using priority based bitmap indexing strategy. Priority based approach consider  bitmap vector to be executed as per the priority.Intermediate results are evaluated to find probability of result.Fruitless operations are identified and skipped in advance which help to reduce I/O access and time.Time and iteration required to process query is reduced [45-50] % compare to previous strategy.  Experimental result proves the superiority of priorty based approach compare to previous bitmap processing approach.

Abstract

In a physical system several targets are normally being considered in which each of nominal and robust performance has their own strengths and weaknesses. In nominal performance case, system operation without uncertainty has decisive effect on the operation of system, whereas in robust performance one, operation with uncertainty will be considered. The target of present paper is a balance between nominal and robust performance of state feedback A new approach of present paper is the combination of two controllers of μ and H2/H∞.  The controller for robust stability status, nominal performance, robust performance and noise rejection are designed simultaneous. Controller will be achieved from solving constraint optimization problem. Where a simultaneous H2 /H∞/µ robust multivariable controller has been designed over an X-29 Single Person.  This model has three inputs and three outputs, where the state space equations of the system response to an unstable one. Abstract

Air pollution is one of the most serious problems the world faces today. It is highly necessary to monitor pollutants in real-time to anticipate and reduce damages caused in several fields of activities. Likewise, it is necessary to provide decision makers with useful and updated environmental data. As a solution to a part of the above-mentioned necessities, we developed a Java-based application software to collect, process and visualize several environmental and pollution data, acquired from the Mediterranean Dialog earth Observatory (MDEO) platform [1]. This application will amass data of Morocco area from EUMETSAT satellites, and will decompress, filter and classify the received datasets. Then we will use the processed data to build an interactive environmental real-time map of Morocco. This should help finding out potential correlations between pollutants and emitting sources.

Abstract

One of the main aims of transport layer protocol is achieving best throughput without any congestion or reduced congestion.  With rapid growing application needs and with increasing number of networks in Internet, there is a primary need to design new protocols to transport layer.  To transmit multimedia applications, one of the suitable congestion control mechanisms in transport layer is TCP Friendly Rate Control Protocol (TFRC).  It controls congestion based on its equation. However, every packet requires an acknowledgement in TFRC. It creates congestion in the network when the transmitted data is very large, which results in reduced throughput. This paper aims to increase the throughput when the transmitted data is large with minimal congestion by reducing the number of acknowledgements in the network.  We modified some fixed parameters in the TFRC equation. The results show the increased throughput with minimal congestion.
