Abstract

This research aims to propose the optimal control method combined with the neuron network for an induction motor. In the proposed system, the induction motor is a nonlinear object which is controlled at each working point. At these working-points, the state equation of the induction motor is linear, so it is possible to apply the linear quadratic regular algorithm for the induction motor. Therefore, the parameters of the state feedback controller are the functions. The output-input relationships of these functions are set through the neural network. The numerical simulation results show that the quality of the control system of the induction motor is very high: The response speed always follows the desired speed with the short transition time and the small overshoot. Furthermore, the system is robust in the case of changing the load torque, and the parameters of the induction motor are incorrectly defined

Abstract

The paper presents physico-mathematical models for analyzing transient processes in electrical networks having transformers with a high temperature superconducting winding. One of the main purposes of the study is the investigation of the short circuit current limitation process with the use of a transformer with a high temperature superconducting winding, that allows the combination of two series-connected elements, transformer and reactor, in one device. The efficiency of this method for short circuit current limitation is provided by the fact that the critical value of superconducting winding temperature is exceeded under short circuit current flowing, then it passes into the normal state with a high impedance winding, thus limiting a short circuit current. It is important to know the moment when superconducting material passes into the normal state with the loss of superconductivity. For this purpose, the program for calculating the quantity of heat under short circuit current flowing before its interruption was developed. If a 40 MVA transformer with a high temperature superconducting winding is considered, short circuit should be cleared after 100 ms without transformer disconnection. It is proposed to use a hybrid winding in addition to the main winding for short circuit current limitation. Conducted investigations showed that the return of a winding into the superconducting state depends primarily on the ratio between a short circuit current and a rated load current. This represents the criterion for returning or not returning into the superconducting state for transformer windings.

Abstract

The administrative process carried out continuously produces large data. So the search process takes a long time. The search process by hashing methods can save time faster. Hashing is methods that directly access data in a table by making references to the key that hashing becomes the address in the table. The performance analysis of the hashing method is done by the number of 18 digit character values. The process of analysis is done on applications that have been implemented in the application. The algorithm of hashing method analyzed is progressive overflow (PO) and linear quotient (LQ). The main purpose of performance analysis of hashing method is to know how gig the performance of each method. The results analyzed showed the average value of collision with 15 keys in the analysis of 53.3% yield the same value, while 46.7% showed the linear quotient has better performance.

Abstract

Preventive diagnostic testing of in-service power transformers require system outage and expert’s knowledge and experiences in interpreting the measurement results. The chemical oil analysis may cause significant variance to measurement results due to the different practices in oil sampling, storage, handling and transportation. Thus, a cost effective measuring technique by means of a simpler method that is able provide an accurate measurement results is highly required. The extended application of Polarization and Depolarization Current (PDC) measurement for characterization of different faults conditions on in-service power transformer has been presented in this paper. The oil sample from in-service power transformers with normal and 3 different faults type conditions were sampled and tested for Dissolved Gases Analysis (DGA) and PDC measurement. The DGA results was used to confirm type of faults inside the transformer while the PDC pattern of oil with normal, partial discharge, overheating and arcing were correlated to the oil sample conditions. The analysis result shows that depolarization current provides significant information to defferenciate fault types in power transformer. Thus this finding provides a new alternative in identifying incipient faults and such knowledge can be used to avoid catastrophic failures of power transformers.

Abstract

This paper presents an identification method to estimate simultaneously the electrical and mechanical induction machine (IM) parameters by using only the measured current and the corresponding phase voltage. This identification method is based on the output error and uses the multidimensional Alienor global optimization method as a minimization technique. Alienor method is essentially based on converting multivariable problem to monovariable one. To improve the Alienor method performance, the reducing transformation is proposed and compared with the genetic algorithm (GA). Firstly, the identification method is verified using the simulated data. Secondly, the validation is then confirmed by measured data from one machine. The corresponding computed transient and steady state currents agree well with the measured data. The results obtained show the superiority of the proposed Alienor method versus GA in terms of computing time.

Abstract

In this paper, we present a new method for medical images security dedicated to m-Health based on a combination between a novel semi reversible watermarking approach robust to JPEG compression, a new proposed fragile watermarking and a new proposed encryption algorithm. The purpose of the combination of these three proposed algorithms (encryption, robust and fragile watermarking) is to ensure the full protection of medical image, its information and its report in terms of confidentiality and reliability (authentication and integrity). A hardware implementation to evaluate our system is done using the Texas instrument C6416 DSK card by converting m-files to C/C++ using MATLAB coder. Our m-health security system is then run on the android platform. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve high security with good performance.

Abstract

A novel interesting type of variable phase angle voltage mode oscillator using modern building block has been presented in this paper. The new proposed oscillator configuration which uses four voltage differencing gain amplifier (VDGA) and two grounded capacitors can generate two sinusoidal signals that change out of phase by 0 to 90 degree. It has four floating and explicit voltage mode outputs where every two outputs have the same phase. The circuit is characterized by (i) the condition of phase angle of the oscillation (PO) (this concept is introduced for the first time in this paper) can be tuned electronically (ii) the gain of the floating outputs can be controlled independently (iii) it provides electronic control of condition of oscillation (CO) and independent control of frequency of oscillation (FO). The Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) of the output waveforms was obtained and the results were reasonability values (less than 4.5%). The non-ideal analysis and simulation results are investigated and confirmed the theoretical analysis based upon VDGAs implementable in 0.35μm CMOS technology. Simulation results include time response and frequency response outputs generated by using the PSPICE program.

Abstract

In this research, we intend to suggest a new method based on a parallel hybrid chicken swarm optimization (PHCSO) by integrating the constructive procedure of GRASP and an effective modified version of Tabu search. In this vein, the goal of this adaptation is straightforward about the fact of preventing the stagnation of the research. Furthermore, the proposed contribution looks at providing an optimal trade-off between the two key components of bio-inspired metaheuristics: local intensification and global diversification, which affect the efficiency of our proposed algorithm and the choice of the dependent parameters. Moreover, the pragmatic results of exhaustive experiments were promising while applying our algorithm on diverse QAPLIB instances . Finally, we briefly highlight perspectives for further research.

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to investigate fingerprint quality and quality problems due to nonlinear elastic distortion. The effect of force on fingerprint quality was studied using computation and analysis of the correlation coefficient r between the fingerprint quality score and force. The correlation analysis results show that fingerprint quality is significantly attributed to force. Based on the U test, a comparative study between male and female students about the fingerprint quality was conducted. At the 0.05 level of significance, there is a significant difference between male and female students in the fingerprint quality of the flat left thumb at a greater force level and in the fingerprint quality of the slap left fingers at all force levels.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v3i3.2489

Abstract

In this paper, a modified artificial bee colony (MABC) algorithm is presented to solve non-convex dynamic economic dispatch (DED) problems considering valve-point effects, the ramp rate limits and transmission losses. Artificial bee colony algorithm is a recent population-based optimization method which has been successfully used in many complex problems. A new mutation strategy inspired from the differential evolution (DE) is introduced in order to improve the exploitation process. The feasibility of the proposed method is validated on 5 and 10 units test system for a 24 h time interval. The results are compared with the results reported in the literature. It is shown that the optimum results can be obtained more economically and quickly using the proposed method in comparison with the earlier methods.
