Abstract

In the smart grid infrastructure based power systems, it is necessary to consider the demand side management to enhance the energy reduction and system control. In many countries the resources are very less so the available resources have to be used in an efficient manner without any loss. The total loss cannot be avoided but it can be reduced. In the proposed system, the Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) technique is used to distribute the power in the smart grid. Here, the grids are arranged in such a way that the losses in it are reduced. The load connected to the grid is rearranged according to their use. It uses a new and stochastic scheduling technique to handle the uncertainties in the power system. Solar and wind power are taken in account for twenty four hours and the values are given to the PSO algorithm. The   experiment was conducted by MATLAB and the results show that the efficiency level of wind and solar power systems was increased by an appreciable level. The proposed technique is compared with the normal system without using Demand Side Management (DSM) and it shows that the proposed system gives better results than the existing systems.

Abstract

In service Oriented Architecture, many services are offered with similar functionality but with different service quality parameters. Thus the service selection using a deterministic approach causes conflicts and inefficient results. We use asynchronous queue to model the service inventory architecture avoiding unnecessary locking of resources and thus allowing a provision to consumers to get their required services without intervening and with temporally decoupled fashion. Actually this kind of service selection strategy is considered in regards with game theory to eliminate fluctuations of queue length. It offers a discrete random service which is equal to some request requested by consumers, it means service can be provided based on probability mass function as a substitute of deterministic decisions for selecting a proper service provider as of the consumers. Once the request is taken out from the queue, it is delivered to the interceptor that has validation and sanitization module. It thus reduces the peak queue length and reduces periodic fluctuations in the queue length.

Abstract

In this paper, we present a new dual band metamaterial printed antenna for radio frequency identification applications. The proposed antenna consists of two L-shaped slot in the radiating element for dual band operation and a complementary split ring resonator etched from the ground plane for size miniaturization. This antenna is designed and optimized by CST microwave studio on FR-4 substrate with thickness of 1.6 mm, dielectric constant of 4.4 and tangent loss of 0.025. A microstrip line with characteristic impedance of 50 ohms is used to feed this antenna. A prototype of the proposed antenna is fabricated to validate the simulation results. The measured and simulated results are in good agreement.

Abstract

This paper evaluates the impact of multi-5G small cell systems on the energy efficiency (EE) in a Fifth Generation (5G) of cellular networks. Both the proposed model and the analysis of the EE in this study take into account (i) the path losses, fading, and shadowing that affect the received signal at the user equipment (UE) within the same cell, and (ii) the interference effects of adjacent cells. In addition, the concepts of new technologies such as large MIMO in millimeter range communication have also been considered. The simulation results show that the interference from adjacent cells can degrade the EE of a multi-cell cellular network. With the high interference the number of bits that will be transferred per joule of energy is 1.29 Mb/J with a 0.25 GHz bandwidth and 16 transmit antennas. While, with a 1 GHz bandwidth the transfer rate increases to 5.17 Mb/J. Whereas, with 64 transmit antennas the EE improved to 5.17 Mb/J with a 0.25 GHz BW and 20.70 Mb/J with a 1 GHz BW. These results provide insight into the impact of the number of antennas in millimeter range communication and the interference from adjacent cells on achieving real gains in the EE of multi-5G small cells cellular network.

Abstract

This paper aims at identification of individuals using the retinal image that the extraction of blood vessels based on density classification and identification is carried out according to the Fuzzy logic and then according to the performed operations of individual’s electronic healthrecord. For this purpose, a new algorithm was presented for extraction of specific characteristics of retina based on image analysis and statistic calculations. Extraction of eye blood vessels is carried out based on adaptive filters. Our proposed method in comparison to previous methods which merely have carried out the identification through individually comparison of retina has a higher accuracy and speed. This distinction in the identification accuracy and speed was used in the type of classification and Fuzzy rules. In this paper, we will cluster the image noise at the first stage and at the end of clustering, two classes of noise and the original image will remain. This clustering will be done using the density method of Density-Based Clustering. Then we will extract the eye vessels using adaptive filters. After identifying classes and eye vessels extraction, we will identify the image of the retina under experiment based on the five-stage Fuzzy logic and rules and extract the individual’s file.DOI:http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/ijece.v3i3.2520

Abstract

With the innovative progresses in power electronics in recent years, photovoltaic (PV) systems emerged as one of the promising sources for electricity generation at the distribution network. Nonetheless, connection of PV power plants to the utility grid under abnormal conditions has become a significant issue and novel grid codes should be recommend. The low-voltage ride-through (LVRT) capability is one of the challenges faced by the integration of PV power stations into electrical grid under abnormal conditions. This work firstly provides a discussion on recent control schemes for PV power plants to enhance the LVRT capabilities. Next, a control scheme for a three-phase four-leg grid-connected PV inverter under unbalanced grid fault conditions using synchronous reference frame proportional integral (SRFPI) controller is proposed. Simulation studies are performed to investigate the influence of the control strategy on the PV inverter.

Abstract

This paper analyzes the subthreshold swing in asymmetric double gate MOSFETs with sub-20 nm channel lengths. The analysis of the carrier transport in the subthreshold region of these nano scaled MOSFET includes tunneling as an important additional mechanism to the thermionic emission. It is found that the subthreshold swing is increasing due to tunneling current and that the performance of nano scaled MOSFETs is degraded. The degradation of the subthreshold swing due to tunneling is quantified using analytical potential distribution and Wentzel–Kramers–Brillouin (WKB) approximation in this paper. This analytical approach is verified by two dimensional simulation. It is shown that the degradation of subthreshold swing increases with both reduction of channel length and increase of channel thickness. We also show that the subthreshold swing is increasing in case of different top and bottom gate oxide thicknesses.

Abstract

This paper presents the performance analysis of the direction of arrival estimation algorithms such as Estimation of Signal Parameters via Rotational Invariance Technique (ESPRIT), Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC), Weighted Subspace Fitting (WSF), The Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR or capon) and beamspace. These algorithms are necessary to overcome the problem of detecting the arrival angles of the received signals in wireless communication. Therefore, these algorithms are evaluated and compared according to several constraints required in smart antenna system parameters, as the number of array elements, number of samples (snapshots), and number of the received signals. The main purpose of this study is to obtain the best estimation of the direction of arrival, which can be perfectly implemented in a smart antenna system. In this context, the ROOT-Weighted Subspace Fitting algorithm provides the most accurate detection of arrival angles in each of the proposed scenarios.

Abstract

Current Automatic Speaker Recognition (ASR) System has emerged as an important medium of confirmation of identity in many businesses, ecommerce applications, forensics and law enforcement as well. Specialists trained in criminological recognition can play out this undertaking far superior by looking at an arrangement of acoustic, prosodic, and semantic attributes which has been referred to as structured listening. An algorithmbased system has been developed in the recognition of forensic speakers by physics scientists and forensic linguists to reduce the probability of a contextual bias or pre-centric understanding of a reference model with the validity of an unknown audio sample and any suspicious individual. Many researchers are continuing to develop automatic algorithms in signal processing and machine learning so that improving performance can effectively introduce the speaker’s identity, where the automatic system performs equally with the human audience. In this paper, I examine the literature about the identification of speakers by machines and humans, emphasizing the key technical speaker pattern emerging for the automatic technology in the last decade. I focus on many aspects of automatic speaker recognition (ASR) systems, including speaker-specific features, speaker models, standard assessment data sets, and performance metrics

Abstract

The permanent magnet linear motors are widely used in various industrial applications due to its advantages in comparisons with rotary motors such as mechanical durability and directly creating linear motions without gears or belts. The main difficulties of its control design are that the control performances include the tracking of position and velocity as well as guarantee limitations of the voltage control and its variation. In this work, a cascade control strategy including an inner and an outer loop is applied to synchronous linear motor. Particularly, an offline MPC controller based on MPP method and Laguerre model was proposed for inner loop and the outer controller was designed with the aid of nonlinear damping method. The numerical simulation was implemented to validate performance of the proposed controller under voltage input constraints.
